Listening to Karl, in these candid moments, makes me realise why Ricky fell in love with him (for want of a better expression!).

Karl ended up predicting virtual reality. Ricky and Steve's lack of knowledge or foresight of technology goes to show, Karl is the real genius.

It’s really weird to think I was working at Piccadilly radio 10-2 and Karl was doing the 2-6 the same years. He was on the 103 FM side and I was 1152 AM side, same building opposite studios.
Very cool but not weird, i expect 100s worked there. What would have been weird is, if no one waa working in the entire building, your side or Karls apart from a twin with two faces and a cat that didnt look happy. Imagine that 😳

I've heard it said that Karl is "wisdom without intelligence". That clears some things up for me - he has a very strong "heuristic", and is quite quick to intuit the world around him, even when it makes close to zero sense. It shows me that, however whiny he may seem, he does have a great deal of confidence and resolve deep down that keeps him going. He knows what matters to him and has little interest in anything besides. There is something very beautiful about that idea

This was such a good live stream. I had never heard the story he begins at 1:13:38 about talking with a fan whose husband passed. He hears it all the time, but I'm glad he was able to see his impact finally.
Karl will never understand how appreciated he is
I really like that you can tell just how much it impacted him, it's a world away from the situations that Gervais and Merchant contrived to put him in where it was almost cruel at times. Karl can be kind and thoughtful and genuine, it's just letting him be him rather than asking him stuff on the spot that most people could struggle with.

Karl doesn't NEED them, Ricky is way too overbearing, mistreats Karl, and very annoying with his hyena laugh, since with his huge ego he always wants to be the total center of attention....sick of it !!! Let Gervais write his stuff and Steve can carry on with Karl, their exchanges are great, I'd be dead chuffed listening to their banter, doyaknowutImean ! Karl is a very intelligent, wise, witty, honest and humble man, also the Poet Laureate of England and President of Society, really something, innit ?

I listen to this in bed and today I listened to it on my walk. I had to stop myself smiling and laughing at Karl's ramblings (when he said when he goes on holiday but doesn't think of anything). I must have looked mental on the street!

Still love Karl just as much after all these years! Still listen to these every night. If you missed his cameo as the copper recently in ‘the thief, his wife and the Canoe’ he was genuinely good. I was pleasant surprised. The whole show was good too! But seeing him call ‘bullshit’ made it all worthwhile. Would never have guessed from these days he’d ever be able to act. Miles better than in Derek. Displayed some actual nuance...
