The cinematography is outstanding in this one.
I agree. His videos---which are generally better than most of what you see on RUclips---are getting really, really sharp and slick.
I could listen to those nature sounds for hours
Yep & yet again many more screen saver worthy shots here.
You need to have your own program on PBS.
“ Slim Potatohead and His Travels “
Your videotography and narration is excellent.
Yea he does
i said victor years ago you wont find better hope you and family are great greets from Ireland
I feel like I'm watching an epic travel show in each video
One mushroom makes you larger and one mushroom makes you small and the ones that Slim cooks doesn't give you any buzz at all.. ;-)
Walter Blackledge go ask Slim, when he’s ten feet tall.
💗🎶
🤣
That is good!
This is my home here. I like that you show the little things like a caterpillar, mushroom, moss and ferns. Tears of joy fill my eyes by the babbling brook. I'm elderly now and don't get out much. Thank you, thank you Slim for taking me home again.
I live on the Oregon coast and totally agree it is a beautiful place! Yep, tough to find "free" camping here. I really enjoy watching your videos, very well crafted and photographed! Keep up the excellent work! On a brief side note, the giant tree you showed and mentioned that it was a spruce, probably is not. The bark looks like a very old douglas fir, definitely a "grandpa". Thanks again for sharing your travels with us!
Free along any coast seems to be a problem. Try living free on coastal Florida, Georgia, SC, NC and you will drive a long way. We can barely find beaches to walk our dog on for a few hours.
We lived in Myrtle Beach SC about a block and a half from the ocean. I could hear the surf at night. Still had to use special walkways to go surf fishing. Even then at high tide was harassed by motel employees as if they owned the beaches. Not a political rant but one of social restrictions. Put lots of people together and "travelers must keep traveling", or pay to stay.
I find myself watching your videos at night before bed. Its how I unwind and relax. Thanks for taking the time to include beautiful scenery, great narration and camping information. Best videos I've seen
Me and my friend google translate trying again. In a troubled day, I find it incredibly soothing to see such beautiful photography, superb composition of motives and manage to capture the beauty around us. Again, a natural thank you from me.
Slim, I hope you get the message that we're ALL saying here...You have developed an outstanding ability to capture natural beauty via media (video, photography, etc.) Your narrations and voice tonality are perfectly matched with the content, not too chatty, but reverent, respectful. The top notch quality of your videos is the outward expression of your love and thought about the places you visit. The last few seconds of this vid. where you sat quietly contemplating the beauty of that brook was amazing. And you brought us there with you. Thank you so much and keep up the inspired work. The world really needs it!! ;D
Glad people appreciate my videos CDB. It makes it all worthwhile if I can give even a few minutes of joy each week. Thanks! SP
One hour and over 500 views!
Your a very popular person....How does that make you feel slim...lol
Peaceto You an Yours, Truly Sir.✌✌✌🤗🤗🤗❤❤❤🤗🤗🤗✌✌✌
The reason I like your vids. are that your old school , respectfull and GRATEFUL.
Linc.
Your videos just get better and better, I think this one’s my favorite!
The clarity in your filming and editing are amazing.
And you have a great voice, I hope someone with more importance than me sees that in you.
There’re plenty of campsites in Washington state that have been closed in the past few years.
If you watch Nomadic Fanatic he talks about this and being from WA he knows a lot of places to go.
You cracked me up with ‘go ask Alice kind of mushrooms.’ Hahaahaaa
Cyndi Foore the mushrooms, where outstanding. This photography was awesome, great job.
I live in Washington state. Love Oregon. Camped all over both States for many years. Thanks for sharing.😁
There is so much energy from the ancient forrest, you can feel it even through the filming of it. I needed it. Thanks.
“Go ask Alice mushrooms” lmao!
Even when there’s a fee involved, National Forrest camp grounds are usually less expensive than State Park camp grounds.
The southern half of the Oregon coast is far less populated than the northern half. A few, not tons, more boondocking spots available. Thanks for the Hwy 20 videography. I also love Hwy 138 from Roseburg to Diamond Lake/Crater Lake along the North Fork Umpqua River. Tons of falls and USFS campgrounds that are $10/night, almost empty and safe.
My sister and I did the Oregon Coast a couple of years ago in my little Honey (my RV). It was really difficult to find a free place to stay on the coast. We did stay at Beverly Beach State Park one night, which was very nice, but very expensive. Makes me appreciate our BC campgrounds more. All in all, we've found Oregon to be , shall we say...'unfriendly' to travellers looking to escape the 'norm' and spend time enjoying their state. Too bad, because it is a gorgeous area.
I even tried St Vincent de Paul which ostensibly has a program where us campers can park overnight in church parking lots etc but they couldn't be bothered, it's really overwhelming- if you're not hotel fodder or absolutely destitute there's no middle ground for frugal travelers who enjoy the outdoors but the rest stops.
"Holding his Ax" I will have to remember that one Slim :) Thank you again for a very beautiful and entertaining video. You are living the life for many of us.
I love the peace filled way you poetically share your journey with us!
Another great video! Great photography, superb narration. Safe travels on your journey!
Great video as usual. Indeed everyone likes different things. Although I grew up and lived in Ponderosa pine country in the Interior of BC I have lived on Vancouver Island this whole century so far. I love the moss and ferns etc, so much I have not been off island in 9 years. One trip through the rest of the province next year upon retiring, then back to explore every nook and cranny of my beautiful island. Really have no desire to go anywhere else anymore. I will rekindle memories of other places through you and others. Thanks for the brilliant content Slim.
I enjoy your videos so much. Always looking forward to a new one. Hope to see more of you and your adventures real soon.
Found your channel and really enjoying it. I especially like the ones on the Pacific Northwest. Beautiful and now I want to go camping there.Hope to see more of that scenery. I will definitely share your channel with others.
Gosh I love your videos. Thank you so much for the time and effort you put into each and everyone of them.
Stunning and achingly beautiful. The scenery and your video work.
I do not believe I have ever seen a video short that captures coastal Oregon as well as this. The nature that awaits is astounding as is the remarkable and mostly unfriendly semi-mobile subculture that dots the landscape. That lifestyle seems to have begun around the summer of love and has never left. I used to visit the Oregon coast yearly yet by the 1980's had preferred to boondock elsewhere. Perhaps this is why I am drawn so strongly to central and eastern Oregon and the semi-arid lands of the southwest. I was quite relieved when you joined Hwy 20 and escaped eastward. Thanks for taking us along on this latest adventure Slim.
I think you should give lessons in nature photograph. I am always so thankful for the way you can slow pan the scenes around you.
Too many vloggers rip through so fast it makes me dizzy. I have learned a lot from you Slim, thx
Beautiful footage of a beautiful part of the country. Thank you for another wonderful video. Loved the “go ask Alice” comment!
Just stunning shots of the forest, love Oregon and this is another brilliant spot. The water sounds and soothing music interspersed could make a relaxing soundtrack for those that need to unwind or fall asleep.
I really like your presentational style!
Such gorgeous scenery and music in this video! Thank you!
Wonderful and informative video, Slim. One thing you missed were the fabulous art deco bridges along the coast hiway. All built by one man: Conde McCullough, head of the Oregon highway department during the twenties and thirties. Still in good shape and considered to be masterpieces of engineering art by many.
Mushroom season! Oh my. As always, this was beautiful and informative. I especially enjoyed the coastal sunset clips with the amazing contrast between the ship skeleton && the young humans sharing the beach.
I always enjoy your videos. Thanks for all your work!
Outstanding scenery Slim. Very soothing.
What a gorgeous video, loved all the nature shots. It really relaxed me looking at the trees and brooks. Well done. I will rewatch this one.
A few hours north of Highway 20 is Highway 6 to Tillamook. The Tillamook State Forest straddles Highway 6 and provides lots of free camping. Just stay away from browns camp and diamond mill as both these areas are for off-road vehicles and get noisy. Also it was probably mostly Morel and Golden Chantrelle mushrooms that people are interested in.
Highway 20 near Sweet Home was the hunting grounds for a serial killer back in the seventies. Great video Slim 😊
was it the one who killed the campers who were jogging or hiking the trail? weird stuff happens around National Parks
..... Excellent video quality Slim!Great shots of the ocean and sunset with the dog running on the beach very well done...
Well it took you some time to find a place but when you did it was wonderful. Thank You
The Cascades are my favorite mountains ever!!! So green, so magical. Loved seeing them again through your video.
I am just so , so happy to see these gorgeous paradise that you visit. I don’t know what I am waiting for me to go a see these beautiful paradises here at home !!! I just love the little doggie at the beach and the sunset , btw. I love any place with ferns I think ferns are magical 😍❤️👍Thank you !
Well now I have to watch it again. Between the peacefull sounds and tranquil music, I fell asleep. Thanks for a wonderful nap, Slim. Beautiful.
Wow, what beautiful places you visited! Thank you for sharing them with us, I really enjoyed the scenery. “Go ask Alice mushrooms” was quite funny! Thanks Slim.
I'm planning a long road trip this spring and summer from the southwest up the NW coast and to wherever the road takes me, so I was intrigued with the first video I watched, and wanted more. I've now subscribe and look forward to learning more throughout the winter as I plan and learn. Thanks so much, Slim, for sharing your experiences and your photography!
What a relaxing video to watch before bed. Thank you!
I loved the sunset on the coast with the sun coming thru the rusted ship and with the dog playing on the beach. Such beauty.....awesome. Thank you for sharing.
Your videos just keep getting better and better. Thanks for sharing such outstanding photography.
The "B" roll montage with the harp-style music was both hypnotic and breathtaking. I can't thank you enough for giving me that moment of peace today.
What a beautiful video, thank you!
I'm originally from the Pacific northwest. I miss the color green, ferns, ocean and lots of rivers.
I know where I'm heading in the spring, thanks for the inspiration!
hey I always enjoy your videos, the beauty you capture & your humor r so enjoyable. thanks 4 all your hard work
Beautiful forest scenes!
Wow, Slim, You passed by my house! As for “funny” mushrooms....most of my friends are not out there to pick those....this was a good year for Chantrelles....yummy culinary delights
yes I live in columbia county & I pick chanterelle's, funny shrooms are mainly in pastures on the coast... plenty of boondocking spots all over the place & you should learn how to spot shantys they are a delish. You drove all the way to saddle mt.but did'nt hike up to the top, great view.I'm a little offended but I still subscribe love ya man
Speed, I could not PARK at Saddle Mountain. Every available pullout taken. SP
Hi Lindy, yes I'm sure other people were picking different mushrooms. I only talked to one couple, and they only had one type! SP
Same here - my friends are out getting chantrelles!
I grew up in Oregon. Free camping along the Oregon coast has been gone for many many decades. There are back roads and old mountain roads in the coat range, but how safe they are who knows any more. Free camping is pretty much found in central and eastern Oregon now. Oregonians like to fence everything in and own it. I do enjoy your video's very much. This one reminded me of home. I spent a lot of my childhood on the coast. Now I live in Idaho. Big change, but a lot easier to boon dock and camp by a long shot.
Jeez Mr. Potatohead , just amazingly beautiful scenery, thank you , I love the moss covered trees 😍
Another great travel channel thanks for the ride along, we hope to do this in my home made teardrop camper
Great nature videography. Thanks, Slim!
Oregon is Gorgeous this time of year especially up by Pendleton Rodeo town chilly nights though during the day it's nice ad warm
Thanks for another entertaining video. Also for bringing back memories of Jefferson Airplane and Alice!
Thats starship for you young'uns out there
Beautiful music during the forest sequence. And of course, gorgeous photography.
After you picked up the cat shovel and walked into the bushes, I expected you to jump up from behind the bushes after you'd done the deed going "Meow!" hehehe
Wow, those coastal pictures were amazing. Loved those!
Also...beautiful video. Thank you for starting my day out on a positive note.
Sorry about the lack of boondocking, but you did manage to get some AWESOME Videos and pictures. One of my Favs was the close up to the Rocks showing all the wonderful cracks, crevices and colors!! Wonderful, Thank you!!
Splendid episode, Slim. Thank you for taking us to that beautiful stream with falling leaves.
Thanks for this captivating & informative video. You, my virtual friend, have the "eye of an Artist" & the "soul of a Poet".
Your reply is the one that SHOuLD BE the "Highlighted Reply", not mine.
LMAO!! "The funny mushrooms...Go ask Alice mushrooms!" I couldn't stop laughing! Yeah, seems like we both 'grew up' in those times! You"re a hoot Slim! Great video as always...safe travels my friend!
Another outstanding video. It is amazing that you had that camp site all to yourself.
You are a good soul. Please know we all enjoy the love that you put into your content. As a long time weekend worrier, looking forward to being able to slow down and smell the nature before being back into the office on Monday morning.
Great vid as usual Slim. Some stunning scenes and filming, good info...live and learn, no doubt.. I’ve recently learned that my own travels may be greatly reduced for the foreseeable future...that makes the vicarious travels with you (and a few others) all the more important. No pressure though!! Ha! Thanks and keep ‘em coming please !!! Peace-Dale
Beautiful country! I grew up in the Willamette valley. Thank you for sharing a special place in my ❤️!
One of your most beautiful videos. Just awesome!
Beautiful video! Lots of beautiful poison oak plants displaying their fall ambers and reds. I started itching from looking at it. 🤪
New to the channel - thank you for highlighting Oregon's coastline - it is beautiful, even tho pretty darn cold. You got lucky at the coast. It's usually windy and rainy.
Beautiful coastal shots!! Camping anywhere along the coast can be a challenge
Absolutely beautiful shots😊 Safe travels 🌈🌸🌻
Very peaceful. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful nature video. Thank you.
Wow. That Oregon coast is beautiful. Thanks for the tour Slim!
Nice post! I live in Florence Oregon and I’m amazed all the time. I’m about a mile from the beach and I can hear the ocean 24/7/365. It’s incredible here.
Excellent filming, great interpretations of your journey!!! Thank you, Slim!
The Pacific Northwest is definitely on the bucket list. Thanks for showcasing and reminding me that I need to get out there sooner than later. By the way I love your sense of humor.
Wow the scenery is absolutely beautiful
Loved this video very much. You really are good at creating a mood.
Very good photography that I always enjoy with your vids. Oregon coast is pretty unbelievable for people who aren't use to it. Great site seeing. Keep up the good work and be safe...
Loved the video. Being from northern Cal I understand some of those seedy spots. But what beauty. How about northern cal. Redwoods are beautiful.
I agree with you Slim. I grew up on the Oregon coast, and it is beautiful! The full timers, the tweakers, and various other types of full time "campers" ruin the experience of feeling safe while camping. I had one car drive into my campsite demanding their brick or cinder block back. They were obviously checking to see if anyone was at home. I would love to find a good place to camp back at home.
Thanks Slim, another phenomenal video!
Thank for the continued videos and tips on the Aliner. Just bought an expedition based on your adventures and insight concerning the Aliner. Keep the tips coming!🎥
Really enjoying seeing through your eyes and hearing your poetic musings! :)
Fantastic. It does get rainy and stormy there, as you could no doubt tell from the twisted tortured trees overhanging some of the beaches. And the many streams and falls give the range the name of Cascades, from my understanding. Your videography of your forest camp was soothing and beautiful.
Just found you, wow! I'm in southern Oregon. Unfortunately what you didn't know is that you can boondock along Highway 101 in those incredible pull-offs. Free. By the sea! Love your sense of humor, videography, again just wow!
Amazing video of the water and woods!
Thanks Slim, I live here in the NW and love it. Hope you had a good time.
Fantastic job on the video. Looks kick ass on my huge 4k. Happy travels my friend and hope to see you on the road.
Slim! you should have stopped in Bend while you were passing through central oregon. Tons of free camping in the surrounding forests. Rivers, hiking, beautiful views. Bend is a great place to re stock. Maybe next time.
Actually, I did stop in Bend. May be in a future video. Thanks! SP
Hey Slim. You drove right past my house, not far from Sweet Home. We loved seeing our area on your video, quite a surprise. Yes, the coast is hard to camp at, we never do. It's a hassle. Glad you found a spot in our mountains. Keep up the great work, love your videos
I had no luck on the Oregon coast either, wound up finally finding a spot 15 miles inland. I'm with you, I'll take dry anytime 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞
You post the best vids! Love your channel!
That forest was absolute perfection!!!! Love the water!!!!
Stunning Oregon coast. Great job!👍🏼😘🍄🧚🏼🧚🏼♂️🦄🌈
some beautiful cinematography you did. Oregon has some awesome nature .
Absolutely beautiful photography ... you captured the essence of my heart's desires😍. Thanks, Mr. Slim ... continued safe and happy travels💕
Thanks Tsuki! SP
