The rubber gloves are to ensure no static electricity is conducted from yourself to the drive. Alot of people who handles drives, processors, psbs regularly do this. FYI you can now also get the Samsung 8TB SSD for around £4-500. One of the best drives and a decent bang for buck.
Those are specialized ESD (electrostatic discharge gloves) I believe you’re speaking of. He’s wearing basic work gloves (Flexi-max). A wrist grounding strap if you feel the need can be used, or touch a grounded surface prior to handling the electronics.
FYI.. Anybody thinking about installing a 16 TB 2.5 inch hard drive, You are going to need approximately $2500. To $3800. For that memory in 2.5 inch. The most memory I found offered is 4 TB at around a $185 on Amazon
@@Apollo_GodModebasically with an HHD, it’s not happening, 5Tb is about max for them, you’ll need a 2.5” SATA SSD for that much, and as stated, you’ll need at least about $2500. Although a sata adaptor for M.2 sata drives with 2x 8Tb m.2 SATA SSD might be an option.
I got the hard drive before the home base and I’m like wtf is this 💩! I got one Reddit said was good. Looks just like this one just not as many TB so it’s the right one but I thought I was getting an external one I plug in like my Xbox. I just clicked the link and bought it I didn’t even look..seemed legit. 😂
I have both a 2.5" SSD and a 2.5" HDD ready for when my Homebase 3 arrives, hopefully in a couple of days. Looking at the labels on the drives the label on the SSD says 5V 1.7A, the label on the HDD says 5V 700mA so it would seem that the SSD takes more power and I would expect it to get hotter tann the HDD. I also noticed that the Eufy instruction label on the caddy was left in place, and the label on the lid is also in place. I think these are meant to be removed to ensure efficient airflow and cooling.
Would you happen to have a link to the one you purchased? I purchased one but clearly it was too big and I am confused on what is the proper one to purchase size wise. My friend said I needed one that is specially for surveillance. I just want to purchase a 1 TB drive.
Oh my god what a waste of our time, watching this video of you just installing the hard drive and the most important part not showing of telling us how to make it recognize the hard drive in there

Memory? You mean storage. Now I don't trust your assertion.
Just FYI, this is called internal storage.

Should I power down my home base before installing the hard drive? If I do, will it automatically reconnect my cameras?
You should power it down, after powering it up, all cameras will automatically connect.
Good question.
Why the gloves? 😂
Gloves makes it even harder to maneuver ... LOL
Are you keeping the white stickers? Mine overheaded i got an ssd

Hello, could you tell me the model of that hard drive? Did the screws come with the hard drive or were they purchased separately?
The Homebase 3 comes with the screws.
Nice video.
What's the brand name of the screw driver?
The name of the company is wera.
Oh my god what a waste of our time, watching this video of you just installing the hard drive and the most important part not showing of telling us how to make it recognize the hard drive in there
Were the screws for securing the hard disk supplied by Eufy or by Seagate?
Eufy adds them in for you
They are provided by Eufy !

Great video....the 1Gig ram helps alot ? From 128 megs ?
Thanks. Yes, its a good option on the hub.
This is not external hard drive. It goes inside the unit. How is that external?
Can the storage capacity be 2tb or is 1tb the maximum ? Thanks

Can it support 2-pin instead of 4-pin power connection?
I just installed a ssd 1T but it's been recording and it still shows as 100% available...why?
Once your 16 GB is full maybe?
Can I use portable hd via usb?
What is the screw size?
They are provided by eufy !

Mechanic's gloves to install a hard drive?????? Are you fucking serious?
To prevent electrostatic damage to the HD.
@@SenorSammy Whatever floats your boat rookie.
😂 the saying 'ignorance is bliss' has true meaning.
Gloves??? How about a condom and a mask too?
