Hi i purchased the same Segate HD , and i'm getting error msg when formating , do you think somthing wrong with th HD or it is not compatible with S380
I love Eufy products. Made by Anker, a top notch company. Since I only have 3 cams that only record events, the on board storage is good enough for me, but it is awesome that they support hard drives in the home base.
I installed a 2tb ssd into my homebase 3 and I have no idea if my cameras are recording to the added drive or just to the inbuilt 16gb storage. I wish Eufy showed both storage options in the app. I formatted the Ssd after a few days and my clips were still available, which makes me think it records to the built in storage first and maybe once that's full it starts using the added storage. Do you have any thoughts on this? If this is true, I won't know if my hard drive is working properly until the built in 16gb is used up.
How many cameras can continuously record? eufy says 4 and the rest just events but right now i have 4 pan and tilt indoor 2k cameras and 2 4k cameras all recording continuously. Why is eufy saying only 4 cameras can continuous record?.
My S330 can read license plates during the day but not at night. I played with the three settings for night vision. Any ideas? I tried to reach out to support by email. They never respond,
Didn’t help .. trying to contact support to see if they can teak the settings for night vision to keep the shutter open longer Set your video camera to a lower f-stop, such as f/1.2 or f/2.8. This wider aperture lets allows more light to reach the sensor. It also limits depth of field, so keeping subjects in focus is more complex. For scenes with lots of movement, add extra lighting and use f/5.6 instead
i bought EUFA also bought a 6 t hard drive. i can record events if they occur also can manually record on my i phone by pressing record button , how do i get it to manually record to the eufa base hard drive in the base unit manually recording not just by events occurring but by me saying record what i see on the camera at that time of turning on camera but not by event happening, hope that makes some sense

i can get it to wotk on iphone but how to make it record on demand using ipad or alexa on desk top computer using the new 6t hard drive located inside eufa base unit not security events but events i call for
I have the e340 and homebase 3 and only have one camera so I'm trying to decide what size hard drive to buy. I don't think the app is very good. I don't think it's designed very well. If I try to record live it seems to only record and save to my phone and not to the home base 3, but if it detects motion and records by itself then it will save it to the home base I think. I can't tell where it's being saved to. I look under events and it shows videos but it doesn't tell me where it's stored at. The video doorbell has 8 gbs of on-board storage. The home base also doesn't ring when I press the doorbell. I hear the doorbell when I press the button on the doorbell but it doesn't ring on the homebase. There is also a lot of motion outside my door so I think I need to buy an extra battery just in case.
All those are adjustable settings. Clicking record on the live view screen stores it to your phone but I'm pretty sure there is an option to always record live views (to home base). The home base can be the doorbell chime, mine is.
Can Nater Tater or others comment on the issues of privacy with Eufy cameras. I was just about to purchase several Dufy cameras and after reading some reviews, I saw several issues with privacy and security - unencrypted video streams, data sent to Eufy cloud. Has this been addressed/fixed? Thanks.
In my opinion it was all overblown for attention. Eufy has always touted the ability to be local, no monthly fees and secure. However it was discovered that when you option to get a thumbnail of the camera when a motion alert happens then that thumbnail goes to the eufy cloud to then get pushed to your phone for the notification. They then delete that thumbnail but people see that as an issue. If I felt truly concerned I wouldnt have a few dozen Eufy cams at my property.
The only reason to do SSD in this use is if the homebase is near a place where you could hear it and be annoyed by the hard drive (like bedroom). It will constantly be making slight vibration/clicking noises.
@justme19852 right. SSD can offer faster read/write speeds but you don't need that for real time recording and you'll also likely be limited by the network connection (wifi or ethernet) so the HDD isn't the bottleneck.
@@NaterTater This makes sense but I'm curious if using an HDD vs SSD effects recording for wireless cameras that records only when motion is detected. I would assume that recordings are buffered using the internal memory then writes it to the drive? I'm glad you upgraded to a 5TB 2.5-inch HDD drive because i was curious if it would even fit. Also are there any noticeable heat issues created from the drive constantly running? Again, i would assume the internal memory would mitigate the need for the drive to be constantly writing. Lastly, your video suggests that the usb port is for archive backup only and cannot be used for real time recording?
