    Omfg bless you and this video. Been looking everryyywhere for good info on gloss for poly. clays! This seems perfect, seeing how its not sticks, doesn't crack and you can control the shine level! Thank you so much c': So informative and to-the-point.

    If I already covered my clay beads with one coat of Sculpty. I had no idea that it wouldn't hold up. Can I go over it with Varathane or is there away to get the Sculpty off the beads. Thank you for an awesome video! Very helpful!

    I love using Varathane water based polyurethane on my polymer clay projects .The satin or gloss finish gives them a nice shine

    I am definitely going to have to try this out. I've been using Triple Thick for about 2 years but my charms get dirty and I feel like it doesn't get that "hard-plastic" feel. Thanks for the video!

    I could let the paint dry over night and it will still smear sometimes. I just think it has to do with the glaze making the paint wet again so then it smears. It doesn't do it all the time but I've found my way around it, but thanks anyway!

    Does the Rust-Oleum Ultimate Polyurethane glaze work as well? I found it at Ac Moore for pretty cheap (around $10 US for a ½ pint) and I'm not sure if it acts the same. It's the same brand and it's polyurethane, so I have a feeling it will but I'm not sure. Thanks! xx

    I use DuraClear Gloss Varnish. It's a polyurethane gloss too.. so I think it's pretty much the same thing as the Varathane gloss. It works great! I switched from Triple Thick to this, and it's just as glossy as Triple Thick (as long as I use 3 coats of DuraClear), but it goes on soooo much easier, and does not seem to have the cons that Triple Thick does.

    Your always helpful, I was at my local Michaels and they had in their clearance section a small can like the one you show in your video of Minwax waterbased Polycrylic protective finish, or protective topcoat for wood floors. Since i remember seeing something like that in your videos. But just in case you were not aware of it , you should check your local Michaels, because that is where i picked up mine , on clearance for $4.48 for 8oz..

    Before finding your vids I was already using the oil base Polyurthane, and I've never had a prob with stickiness. I just let my charms sit overnight and they're completely dry and stick free in the morning. I got mine from the hardware section in walmart, although I didn't look too hard so I don't know if they have the water based one there. It's a small 8fl ounce can. I've also found if you let the charms just sit out in the opened for about a day or two the smell will go away for the most part. -miv

    Do the glaze dries off solid? I have tried various brands like Sculpey & some other Japan brands but after drying, if I were to use my nails to "scratch" or "press" on it, there will be marks on the glaze.
    Will this happen to Varathane Glaze too? Or does it happens to all sort of glaze?

    Do you know if this gloss is ok to be washed? (by hand not dishwasher)

    • @CoolRiceBunnies
      @CoolRiceBunnies  4 года назад

      I would give it a full 72 hours of drying before trying to wash it by hand, but i think it should be good! I’m not entirely sure if it is food safe though - after researching online it seems like that topic is up for debate. Since this kind of gloss is used for things like wooden dining tables, people wonder why it may or may not be considered “food safe”. Please use at your discretion!

    I was bummed because I couldn't find this in my area and I'm on a super tight crafting budget, but I did find a polyurethane glaze by Delta Ceramcoat for $2.99 at Joann Fabrics, and it seems to be working pretty similarly to this glaze. I talked about it in a review and I'm still experimenting with it, but it might be a cheaper alternative for people who want to experiment with polyurethane glazes :)

    Hi, not sure if you'll see this anytime soon, but I have a couple questions if you have a moment. I think I'm going to use this on a building I am renovating for cats. It has OSB wood walls (kind of like particle wood), and I want to put one coat of this on the walls to protect/seal them just in case there is ever a cat that "sprays" any of the walls so that it cannot penetrate into the wood. My questions are, is the odor from this gone pretty quickly after it dries (unlike oil based polyurethane)? I'll need to have the cats in the building shortly after I use this and don't want to poison them with toxic fumes. Also I was wondering if this is thin enough to where it could be sprayed on with a paint sprayer instead of using a roller? I know that is a totally different application than charms, but I just thought you might have some good input on it. Thanks :)

    • @CoolRiceBunnies
      @CoolRiceBunnies  9 лет назад +1

      dwight1860 Hi! I'm going to try my best to answer your question :D As far as I can tell, on the small scale that I use this product on, the smell is completely gone once it dries, which takes about 24 hours. However, I can't really judge how long it'll take for it to dry completely if you'll be painting a confined space. But overall, yes the smell is gone almost instantly once it dries.
      I have heard of people using glosses like this, and watering it down so that way they can spray it on their clay sculptures, instead of brushing it on. I would double check this to be sure, but if they can do it for their sculptures, I don't see why you can't! I'm sure this will just mean you will need far more coats of it. I hope my input somewhat helps you!
