Ron,
One addition I made to my self-healing cutting board was a thin piece of steel. I purchased
It at a hardware store, and used crazy glue to attach it to the bottom. It makes the surface
a little more rigid and I can use magnets to hold the work in place while cutting.
Good tip. Thanks.
Love that idea going to get a plate today thanks for the idea.
Ron, I have been enjoying your tool comments. I have built models for many years but am always learning new ways to do thing.
Thank you for your comment and thanks for watching.
Hobby Lobby sells packages of tiny wooden clothespins that make good clamps. They can be cut square across the tip so they can be more precise in placement.
Yes, I discussed those in the previous video. Check it out here. ruclips.net/video/BkSPl7SSWbY/видео.html
That square magnetic pan is fantastic. It's useful for anyone building small items. Definitely on my list of things to get.
It is an absolute must-have.
Excellent tips, Ron. Thanks for sharing. - Drew
Hi Ron, I reallycdo appreciate that scratchbuilding tools come right after the basics. Well done. Again, learned more new things than expected and have to think hard about anything to add. Highly recommended!
Thanks.
Add scrapers to your collection get blades up to 8" long and the scraper itself is very customisable make it into an XL styrene cutter so you can cut from 2" to 8".
you forgot safety glasses, trust me, i have suffered a few minor eye injuries, and they can prove themselves to be priceless.
Another winner Ron. Thanks for producing all the content. While I have all the tools you described it was still good to be reminded of how to use them. And repurposing the old micro brush handles was a new to me and neat idea.
Thank you for your comment and thanks for watching.
GREAT VIDEO RON, thanks for all the hints, looks like I'm going to add some took to my bench....Jack 😀
Thank you for your comment and thanks for watching.
Totally forgot how useful clamps can be for keeping struts on home made scratch bridges. Leveling is hard without a laser level. Great tips!
I just did a review of a laser level.
Ron a few ideas for those financially challenged. Community garage sales excellent source for brushes, cutting mats, other hobby supplies, old cutting boards for cutting against. storage boxes. cutoffs from counter installers polished marble and Corian.
Hey Ron, thank you very much for your great helpful work. My pleasure I found you through one of Derral Eves' videos, my favorite one. Being a fellow you tube education consultant myself, love to learn and share something around the world and watched your kit building structures. It's amazing with brilliant learning points and instructions. Amused with you different effective kit and design. Really thanks for your great work.
Thank you so much, Tom, for your comment and thanks for watching. I'm glad you enjoyed he videos.
Ron's Trains N Things I truly did and it’s my pleasure! As a youtube creator myself I know how much work goes in to these video and I can truly appreciate it!
Thank you Ron. I use 3 different size cookie trays that have a lip all the way around them. Got sick and tired of dropping or having items roll off into floor. Just an idea. I also cut to fit those trays with the mats. Hope it is a good idea
Sounds good, and if it works for you that is what is important. Thanks for sharing. That may be an idea that helps someone else too.
great video Ron. Thanks
Thanks.
Good video and suggestions...thanks!
Very good suggestions.
Thanks.
Thanks for a great tool review Ron.
Mike
HI, Mike. Thanks for watching.
Awesome video again wish I could find some of those things here.
Where are you?
I am in South Africa, had to import my Chopper and Scale ruler, luckily I have family in Canada/USA.
When working with styrene while scratchbuilding are you aware of any cutter / tools that will allow you to sand the edges (bevel) that will permit the joining of two pieces in a more seamless look?
The only method I know would be to use a stationary disk sander with a tilting table.
If you want to get something that will combine the straight edge and square, I like the good old carpenters square
Good, but generally too big for benchtop use.

that glueing jig, i love and its a must for my feeble old man hands
The razor saw was more like what I was talking about last time with the track saw
Yes, I knew that was what you meant.
Yes, I knew that was what you meant.
Great stuff. Youre going to put me into the poor house lol
We will be right there together...runnin some trains.
How about 3-2-1 blocks
Thanks for the video. Anyone has a source to get the Flex I File Touch and Flow in Germany or Europe as none of the sellers on amazon.com ships overseas…?
Slow down Robo Preacher if you try and trump my sunglasses with that thing. I will call you out for trademark violations. (I will let you get away with a one time use for parody)
I assume you mean the magnifier. If I tried to wear that thing and walk around I would fall down--which could be a great blooper video. LOL.
All you need is some sweet moves to go with it. ruclips.net/video/4UKeXReVHgU/видео.html
How did you get hold of that video of me in high school?
Ron's Trains N Things - Um 😐 RUclips...
Hello Ron ; Did you get my order for one of the mugs I sent you on your gmail acct. about two - three weeks ago? Thanks, Steven
I will double check, but those orders will be invoiced and filled next week.
I love your videos. They help me a lot but sometimes you take too long to get into the subject and once you do get into the subject you go into great detail which is nice however the videos get to be too long. I find myself skipping a lot to get onto the next tool. Just try to get the details in fast and move on. Not hating just a suggestion.
