  • Beginning the swap on my 93 4 cylinder over to a stock 302 V8. one thing I said in the video that may have been misleading is the harness part, if your 4-cylinder car is a 1990 for example you want to use the same year V8 harness try not to mix them up.

    Great video detailing the project. I did a few of these years ago when these were everywhere and unmolested 2.3's were cheap and clean. Note on the power steering pump. Line can be reused, just a little long but you should rent the tool and swap the pump, keep the 2.3 pump with that rack. The ratio of the 2.3 rack is 20:1 and the v8 rack is 15:1. The valving on the pump gets washy when you start doing locks to locks driving. Do swap in the v8 rack when you can, much improved over the old man PS from the 2.3 -Also, the alternator harness, swap a v8 harness, tried to lengthen the wires once and had all kinds of charging issues and burned the wiring, granted I used the butt splice connectors which didn't handle the load well. Could extend if you get some salvage yard wiring and limit the splice, use soder joints not butt splice like I did.

    Looking good! Glad you mentioned the kmember being the same, I’ve seen so many people say it’s different and change it when it’s the same damn thing. Just have to unbolt those 4cly mounts on it and your ready to go.

    91 has a brown plug by the booster just like the 92.5-93. The difference is 91 doesn’t have a fuel pump relay on the EFI harness like the 92.5-93. So it’s wired differently. It’s under the seat on the 91. 87-90 had the black/grey plugs by the booster.

    Hey man how did u put the 8.8 rear in the 4cyl car did u unbolt the brake line from the onion over on the fire wall by the A/C in take that brake line that runs all the way down the passenger side I believe at 1 point it ends up in the trans tunnel!! Or do u have a easier way to do it I am going to be using super 10's I would like to use tail pipes I know the 4 cylinder union don't bolt up in the middle like the V8 cars it comes out to the right of the rear!! I hope u understand what I mean in might be able to give me a lil info on a different way to put the 8.8 in & run tail pipes instead of taking in drill all those dam rivets out in all the 1's for V8 fuel lines I think this is the shitys part of the whole job!! I mean I have a V8 car 92 GT for my parts car I have a 87 not I am swapping I already got the 89 harness everything I need o2 harness headlight harness this is my first swap just want to get shit right thanks for ur time any info will be appreciated but if not I understand that 2 probably have people bugging the shit out of u!!!!!

    Awesome information!!! What about front coil springs..do those need to be changed since 8 cylinder is heavier than 4 cylinder?

    • @pcpalan
      @pcpalan  2 года назад

      Yes and no. The four-cylinder front springs have been a tried and true method by drag racers. They lower the car a bit and it will transfer weight even better.
      My white Coyote Swap notch currently has four cylinder springs in the front. It rides perfect and if I make a few suspension adjustments it will lift the wheels at the track

      jonathan hall use og v8 fuel lines and KEEP the 4cyl body brake lines. If u have a disc rear Use a 94 95 v6 mustang rear end brake line. Will bolt right up. If u have a v8 drum rear then use the one from the 4cyl. Just swap it from the 7.5 to the 8.8 make sense?
