- The Doors were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on January 12, 1993. The surviving members of the band (John Densmore, Robby Krieger, Ray Manzarek) were joined by Jim Morrison's sister, Anne. The induction ceremony was followed by a live performance of three songs, "Roadhouse Blues," "Break On Through," and "Light My Fire," with Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam standing in for Jim.

What a great speaker was Ray. Even today in 2022 it gave me goosebumps to here his acceptance speech. The Doors one of the greatest 60’d bands. 🔥
Now fascists have switched parties. Vedder not doing song justice
I almost cried; you can tell that Ray missed Jim a lot.
@@bluerfoot Oh yes, my brother in Trump. Americans can rest safe knowing that the brave MAGA patriots pushed back the rising tide of fascism on January 6th 2021. As soon as pictures of Brandon's son's weiner are released, the de-nazification will be complete!
So cool
Robbie Krieger definitely an underrated guitarist great solo on Light My Fire
agree 100%...his progressions on some compositions are true beasts.
Also, damn good for a first song.
True, but I’m not liking the tone he’s getting in this performance. I usually think of Krieger as having a clean and cool sound.
Bobby is one of the Greats for sure👍👍👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥🔥
Dude he kicked ass and took no prisoners. That was one of the best melodic solos I have ever heard - just totally trippy. How cool was the way he worked in favorite things. That's the jazz influence that is gone from the music today.
"Remember getting high? Feeling the earth and feeling we are brothers and sisters?" You can laugh it him saying that, but people were MUCH happier then than now. Love and understanding never go out of style.
Drugs are for the weak. One can feel himself when sober. Drugs and alcohol are a way of escaping reality. Therefore everything is speculative love isn’t true the feelings are fake
I love him for being that way. I have an aunt just like him, always tells these long winding stories that turn some people off, but she's just saying it for anyone who wants to listen
@@THEAMERICAN-ob2wt Agreed, but the opposite of addiction is not sobriety but it is meaningful connection which is sorely lacking in our culture and this is why people become addicted. Therefore addiction is created by trauma rather than weakness and it is always other people that traumatize people who then turn to drugs to escape their pain which is more real than the sham of a cruel and weak society that always blames the victims of the injustices it perpetrates. American and Australian cultures are soulless , shallow and violent - it's no wonder there is a drug epidemic that is destroying lives - I'm actually referring to pharmaceutical drugs which kill more people than all illegal drugs combined. The real drug dealers work for the government.
@@jeffwhite2511 I believe that this trauma creates a weakness
@@THEAMERICAN-ob2wt Agreed based on a very narrow view of what defines 'weakness', however see my comment above in response, somehow it ended up elsewhere in the chat
Ray Manzarek is what this world we all live in today is crying for; we need Ray Manzarek so very badly.
Ray speaks so beatifully just like Jim did.
Reminds me of Nearl Peart. Imagine if they had gotten in a room together to discuss Philosophy.

Extremely dangerous.
Overdose of intellectualism.
Saw them at the Surf Nantasket,1967, again at the Back Bay theatre in March,1968 (they were late). Morrison had the most dynamic voice of that era. John Lennon was second. Anybody record these concert. I have the Boston Arena 1970.
My favorite band in the world. It would have been beyond amazing if Jim were there with them but Eddie most definitely did him justice. RIP Ray and Jim.
Me too. It takes a unique individual to be a hardcore Doors fan, but every one I’ve met is a down to earth, decent person.
I’ve been to visit Jim in Paris twice. I’m hoping to be able to meet Robbie and/or John one of these days.
Vedder did a first-rate job. I'm glad he mentioned the volume of material between 67 - 71.

Ray‘s speech was brilliant and wholesome, fckng love the doors man
Eddie Vedder is the only guy who could have done this. What a great jam, all of them.
Eddie did great. I bet Chris Cornell could/would have crushed it too.
Scott Weiland did it best___its here on youtube as he sang with The Doors
RIGHT ON
I agree with you their as well. Eddie Vedder is only guy that could have done this. I had thought I read somewhere they were going Bono from U2 to do it. But thank god for that.
eddie was shit,
i love the fact that the majority of the songs the doors did were equally credited to all 4 of the members
Love the doors and so do my three sons
ALL THE SONGS.
Most likely because they wrote their parts.
Eddie Vedder did such a great job with this. He and Jim both with very distinctive voices. Robbie always was (and still is) in my list of top 10 guitarists. I was 15 in 1967. Love the Doors catalogue.
RIP Jim and Ray
Right on brother! I always loved the Doors even though I was born in 66. My pops was a DJ in the early 70’s and he brought me home a limited edition doors first album and many other incredible albums. Unfortunately the damn movers stole my whole collection and my guitar when we moved from New York to Florida. My pops was too busy to do anything about it in 1980. That collection would have been worth tens of thousands today. I hope God scolds them for that!
Ian Astbury by farrrr, was the best fill in for Jim!
What a time to be a teenager growing up with bands and music like this so cool your very lucky 👌
@@robert.m4676man, what a dick move. Everyone hates a thief, and that’s a totally cool item. Still, nice to meet a fellow Doors fan.
@@mickeyshooter5298 I agree all the way around!🤙🏻
When I listen to the doors, I feel the energy of my youth coming back.
Me too. Reminds me of high school 20 years ago. I had a kick ass sound system and would just blare the Doors because my Dad had the Greatest Hits cd. I was a bit of a novice stoner back then, too. I used to cruise around in my 1990 Nissan Stanza and just f*cking rock out. It was awesome.
I also visited Paris my senior year, and you better believe I visited Jim’s grave. I went again a few years later, and will go yet again eventually.
So yeah, these songs bring me right back to those wonderful days of youth, freedom, and challenges of authority.
we miss you, ray 💔
very much :(
There were a lot of great bands in the history of rock music...I don't know and I don't care which was the best, the greatest, or the most loved one...but THE DOORS was by far the most different, strange and unique band of all times for me...a class of their own...there will not be another band like them ever...thanks for the memories JIM,RAY,JOHN and ROBBIE...
Omg that voice never fails to give me the Mf chills I’ve never heard anyone come close to making me feel the way Morrison can when singing his songs but I’ll be damned if Vedder doesn’t pull it off the band was feeling him too so bad ass
Check Scott Weiland fronting them. Amazing. Taylor hawkins a nice surprise too.

Tour d' force, Masterpieces!!!
I was born in 1981 but this kind of music never gets old, some day when i can buy a time machine, definitely ill go to that decade to enjoy a whole concert of the doors!!
@Realistic Thinking that's funny... why do you specify 13&1/2 instead of just 13??? 😆
I wanna take Jim for a road trip on a muscle car.
AGREED!!! I was born in 1980 and I discovered the Doors in elementary school by stealing my mother's Cassette tape.I remember doing a project for music class in 1991 in the 6th grade on the Doors and EVERYBODY hated it! I like to believe they just didn't appreciate and understand them yet and hopefully later in life they all listened to them again and understood what I heard just a few years previously. If time Travel were possible they're ABSOLUTELY who I would go back and see!
You are all right ! The Doors were a one of a kind, magical band that made you “feel” the music and lyrics.
I was lucky enough to see The Doors in concert . Truly, one of the best experiences of my life !
But you should be careful)
The greatest rock band in my opinion! I was a little girl when they blasted onto the scen and my older brothers would play their jams! The Doors: Amazing, innovative, creative, funky, multitalented, and soulful as hell! RIP Jim and Ray!
I got to see him with my childhood best friend who went with me to all the great concerts and we saw the Doors at Felt Forom in Madison Square Garden 6 months before he died they recorded it called Absolutely live
Yes the best band ever
I would never say they are the greatest rock band, but they are my favorite. I starred listening to them in my late teenage years, during the early 90’s.
Agree the Greatest most creditable American rock band! Amazing poetry, songs, lyrics, musical compositions guitar, drums, bass.......

Or post Jim 1971 - 1972. 1993

I did, and it was everything you’d hoped and thought it would be !
Jim Morrison would have been approximately 50 years of age had he been able to attend this introduction.
Jim Morrison and the doors were hands down the bounds of reality
Great speech by Ray. I'm glad to see someone representing Jim
Ray always has kind words about Jim. I could only wish to have a great friend like him in my lifetime. I really liked seeing Jim’s sister too. She looks a little bit like him In female form. I’m sure he picked on her a bit as older brothers often do. She was probably surprised as hell her brother went on to such incredible fame!
Ray is absolutely loveing it
I don't know about anyone else but that is some of the best and interesting poetry I've ever heard. Critics said he wasn't a great poet, fuck that!

long live the Doors
John Densmore was once asked who his choice to sing would be if the Doors ever did a reunion show like Pink Floyd Did for Live 8. Without hesitation he said Eddie Vedder. Sadly with the passing of Ray Manzarek, that will never happen!
Just have to find someone who could play just like him.
Vedder just inducting literally everybody into the hall.

I heard Eddie Vetter singing the songs of the Doors and he is absolutely amazing! What a vocalist!
Scott Weiland was better than Vedder.
Insomniac ur opinion 🤷🏻♂️
damn this was really good ! i know eddie vedder couldn't show up to rehearsal so he messed up a bit but honestly his knowledge of "dead cats, dead rats" and the "bum bum bum bum" part on " light my fire" (which was probably learned by listening to absolutely live and live at the hollywood bowl) amazed me! he did a great job considering he didn't have much practise.
Eddie Vedder conjuring up his Inner Jim Morrison is magnificent. The Doors created a sound that is instantly recognizable and yet very few (perhaps The Stranglers?) have ever been able to replicate.
The Doors have been my favorite band since the 70’s! I was born in 66 and 27 years later they got inducted into the Rock and Roll HOF.now 27 years later I still love The Doors and I finally get to see this! Pretty cool!!! RIP Jim and Ray!
Ray Manzarek is insufficiently recognized for the genius he was,
Perfect to have Eddie Vedder sing for the Doors! Excellent job!
Vedder the bedder!
Eddie Vedder does one hell of a Jim Morrison! One of the hardest acts to follow in Rockin Role by the way....
Ray was just the coolest of guys. You couldn't help but love him. I remember reading his book. When he talked about how did the key boards in this song or that one he would often put into parenthesis "practice practice practice"
I'm reading Robbie's book right now and I had to stop and look up this performance they all did a phenomenal job Eddie vedder's vocals for spot-on
Same! Right now.
Jim Morrison was way above his time may the legend live on
That was a special moment in history
I'm a huge Doors fan, I had all their albums, Eddie Vedder did a great job singing with the Doors, he nailed it!! It's sad to hear people put him down, very sad but That's it!! Incredible performance love the Doors and absolutely love Eddie Vedder 💓😊🤘✌️ thank you for sharing.
Robby is so underrated
Grew up with this band and the memories from the music at that time was my escape. At the age of 13 living in NY with my parents mom would say"you really like that music"??
It was 1968 and "The Doors" were my band. I will be 69 this year and the "Doors" still do it for me when I just want to "escape with my own thoughts". What Ray said about 1967 was spot on. We have come to a different place in our lives today...it is sad we still have much to learn about loving each other and respecting each other no matter what color we are.
Peace to you who remember the way it use to be. ✌😉
Wow! Doors have always been in their own world! One of the greatest bands ever. They had the vibe of the 60's in their souls! Plus they play my favorite song ever! " Light My Fire " I believe was number one for at least 6 weeks!

This was a great chance to see these guys. Vedder was a great choice to front the band. Thrilling to hear to this.
Eddie Vedder did it justice! Great job!!!
i love that eddie vedder says "We couldnt get much higher" thats so important haha
Baby want you bite my wire
Fantastic performance by Vedder and the doors! He captured the essence if Jim’s vocals.
i was lucky enough to see Ray and Robbie perform together in 2012 in Austria. The Doors were one of the first bands that introduced me to the magic of music and to actually witness these guys playing together was one of the best experiences of my life. Ray introduced the band members by calling them a „Love Machine“ while playing the keys to the intro of Touch me concluding the introduction by introducing himself to the audience saying „and i‘m Ray Manzarek and i am a Love Machine!“
one year later he passed away and i will be forever grateful to have witnessed these men playing together and unfolding their magic. I just had broken up with my girl back then. i was shattered to the ground and they came and lifted me back up again when i needed it the most.
Thank you Ray and rest in love. ✌️
Great story. I have yet to meet any Doors, but I retain faith that it’ll happen. I have been to visit Jim in Paris a couple times, though.
The music reminds me of happier times in my life, and lifts my spirits.

I used to write songs about the man! then one day I turned around and realized, I was the man!

Light my Fire is the most psychedelic commercial song ever made. Describes my entire teen years
I was lucky enough to attend a Krieger/Manzarek concert a few years ago in Rome. I went there with a lot of skepticism, because I didn't think you could make Doors music with a replacement for Jim.
It was one of the best concerts of my life.
The singer who replaced him was a perfect copy of Morrison, in voice and look, and was kept in skilful twilight by the lights. The illusion was perfect.
The two of them were unleashed, although Manzarek was already ill, it was wonderful. And it had its original red Farfisa.
It was REALLY an unforgettable evening.
Wow I wish I could've been there
@@Nannahd It was a moving evening, they played all their classical repertoire, except The End: Manzarek told us he didn't want to play it out of luck. Then we understood why: he wanted to get rid of the idea of death, poor man ...
A few days later, in the same location, I had the good fortune to attend the 50th Anniversary reunion of the Beach Boys, with Brian Wilson reuniting with the survivors of the band. It's hard to say which of the two concerts was the most memorable ...
What a week...! 😉

I think that the nineties were really like the sixties. In a musical sense especially. The Doors, MC5 made the first beam of the bridge that was finished in the nineties. I was born in 1992. in Croatia and I have only gratitude for The Doors who really helped me in my dark alleys of life. Bless to everyone reading this! The sixties and the ninties were an echo of Romanticism. From Shelley, Byron, Chateaubriand all the way to Morirson. Morrison's father, George, was an Admiral in the Navy, and oversaw naval operations during the Gulf of Tonkin incident that led to the US war in Vietnam.
