Pablo Márquez at the pinnacle. This artist definitely deserves to be seen on the most important stages of this planet. For decades he has been challenging the status quo and constantly pushing the boundaries of his artistry.

An excellent and enlightening rendition of this great piece! I also enjoyed the videography, especially the over the shoulder view of the left hand. There were also some on point cuts between the left and right hand work.👍
This is really fabulous, a beautifully thought-out rendition with so much energy, intensity and depth of feeling. (I remember hearing your semi-final recital in the Geneva competition in 1988 and still think it is the best guitar concert I ever went to 🙂)
oh what a powerfull performnace, the sound just explode directly in to your brain. l would like to know how this was recorded, though l will probably not understand even a fraction of it,sadly.
Beautiful! Is the order of the variations based on something from Ponce, or more of a personal choice? I really like that you change it around from what we are used to hearing, it opens our ears to new perspectives of this wonderful Music.
Siano benedetti entrambi.
Sublime! Love the agogics, the dynamics! A very enjoyable interpretation! Subscribs to your channel! A big like from me! All respect! Regards! //Tobias
Good playing, good sounding guitar. I would fire the camera man immediately. These moving cameras and constantly changing the angles doesn't work for classical guitar music. This is not an action film. Love your guitar, so glad to see a player playing a real classical guitar and not a double top like so many are playing these days. They sound so bad with their heavy basses and woolfnotes all over the place. This is a normal but really good classical guitar. A very good musical instrument. Congrats on the video and especially on your tone and interpretation. Such a big work takes years to make it sound this good. Thank you.
Certainly such a way of shooting a video makes me unable to concentrate on listening to his very music. Maybe Mr. Marquez preferred that way and accepted it, I think. Nevertheless, I cannot help being very much moved by his musical performance. I recommend you not to watch the video and just to listen.
I'm glad you appreciated the guitar and my playing, thank you very much for that. Regarding the visual esthethics of the filming (which I find very good and of course you don't need to agree with that), its choice is related to the history of the piece, if you like to know more about it you can read my article about the piece published by three different guitar magazines: Roseta in Madrid (Spanish), Il Fronimo in Milan (Italian) and Gendai Guitar in Tokyo (Japanese). Unfortunately no English version of it was published yet so far.
@@dougcameron6609 this how a traditional guitar should sound (and how it should be masterfully played to produce the best tone)! Such historical instruments are not easily available, but there are few contemporary makers which take inspiration from them in their work
There is historical evidence that Ponce was not happy with Segovia's edition of the piece, side that he left aside the Preludo, which was part of the original project of the piece. I therefore took the freedom of re-integrating the prelude and finding a more logical order for the variations from the compositional point of view. Everything is explained in detail in an article published by three guitar magazines, Roseta in Madrid, Il Fronimo in Milan and Gendai Guitar in Tokyo.
@@pablomarquezguitar Thank you for this answer and I understand now the background: we are used to the order we know; I didn't know about the existence of the Preludo, for instance and it fits so well to the variations of the composition, because I have also the Segovia edition...
