I first saw David Russell play at a Church in Prestiegn Powys Wales on the border of Herefordshire when he was a young man with a mop of unruly blond hair, So lovely to see his growth into the Maestro of Music that he is today, may he live long and provide such wonderful music for many years. After suffering a stroke in 2022 I took up learning classical guitar again in April 23, after one year of work I hope to play several small pieces on my 80th birthday later this year, music is a healer, no doubt about it best regards
I've followed maestro Russell's career since the early 80s, he never ceases to impress, what an astonishing performance! Thank you David for bringing myself and countless others so much joy and happiness over the years, bravo!

If there is a better classical guitarist in our world, would somebody please tell me who it is? I'm not trying to start a competition . . . and I believe there are many fine players . . . but I haven't heard anyone like David Russell -- complete technical mastery, and utterly musical . . .

Thanks for posting this! What a beautiful tone David produces. In the vain hope I have shaped my nails like his (ramped, triangular shape). I don’t think anyone comes close tp him in playing baroque repertoire on the guitar: just so perfectly paced and polished in the Kuhnau.That looks like his Dammann rather than an Altamira though!

To play this clean with zero mistakes and still be lyrical and musical is incredible . It takes amazing talent and years of playing to be this good.
