A Different World: It’s Greek to Me (part 6/6)

- Hello everyone! My name is Jake Carpenter. I was truly blessed to be an actor on the great and important show, A Different World. It was the highlight of my life. It dealt with important issues and was simultaneously so entertaining. I wish there were more shows on the television like this today.
I was so blessed to be given the role of Rick in the episode of A Different World, "Cat's in the Cradle". It is the episode in which Ron and Dwayne encounter three white guys at a Hillman football game, Ron makes a bet (against Dwayne’s protestations), they all end up in a fight, go to campus jail, and are encouraged to work out their differences. I play the white guy with a conscience who apologizes to Dwayne and Ron in the jail cell. I feel like I had been prepared my whole life for that role.
I will never monetize this channel, sell any products, or have any affiliate links here. “I Love A Different World” is purely for the celebration and enjoyment of A Different World, a show that was so important to millions of people worldwide.
If the channel really takes off, I will see how else to add to the channel, such as seeing if some of cast members would be willing to be interviewed about the show and answer your questions. 😊 I hope so.
Full episodes of the entire series are available on Amazon Prime.
Please continue to support the work of the great artists of A Different World in their careers now and into the future, including:

I liked that it showed Greek life isn't necessarily for everyone, and friends can still be friends even after pledging.
Went through this same situation back in 1998 at Lincoln University, with my group of friends.
2 went KAPP, 2 went with the BLUE color fraternity (been so long since college, forgot frat names) but I just didn't feel like, jumpin through the hoops.
But til this day in 2022....
Still got LUV for them, when I met them all, freshman year 1996 at Lincoln University.
GIRL YOU TOOK THE WORDS OFF OF MY FINGERTIPS!! LOL That's exactly right! My mother didn't pledge but her BEST FRIEND is a Delta and it never interfered with their friendship at SC State and we were all hanging out together even last month! This is real life!
yep, same as BOTH of my brothers, in college while ago, Early 90s... and the other late 90s. they both loved it,and remain friends, with the guys who clearly were not a part of it, one just like Dwayne only was in it at first, but later, he did not finish it, great epie, best frat song, and i am surprised no 1 jacked it, or made remake in their own talent with it. such a great acapella harmony, to it, get chills, emotional each time, we all hear it. 1 of the best epie's, in pop culture, for life, got this one on tonight on tv one channel.
@@invisiblerevolution
We needed a longer version of this. I always got emotional when the brothers started singing.
Me too
I love this song. I wish there was a full version.
💜💛 Came here to say this. I just watched this episode and I have always loved this song. 💜💛
The closest version is the alpha phi alpha zoom song

Exactly! That’s why I watch this clip over and over.
Dang all these comments are recent. I thought I was the only one that had the frat song stuck in my head for the last 30 years lol
amanda, That is nice.
Me too. 💜💛
1of my all time favie frat songs, so good. and should've been longer on the mega-hit show as i am having this epie on tonight, black network TV ONE... great song, and harmony, love it til i am old and grey, middle age now, puerto rican, blk(mom blk) dad is Afro - Hispanic latino, we all love it, when it first was on and still do .adios.
aw, that is nice Law 0806. This is on tonight, TV ONE. I love this epie the best, well, the complete ending of "brotherhood" and the words to the song, no music pure talent while acapella. My 2 older brothers, relate to this, for sure. great show, well done, like always, by Debbie Allen mega-talented self, and appreciate the actor Jake Carpenter who was on the show, i remember as "Rick, in the 1 of the best top 3 epie's on ADW when Dwayne Ron experience racism by "Rick Friends" played by actor Dean Cain, was one of em." I am glad he upload this." @@LawMami0806
Til this day, this "frat" song/chant has always popped up in my head! You aren't the only one. lol
I loved the Fraternal song at the end!!
I love the melody of the ending song

One thing about Kadeem and Darryl, they always had the shoe game on lock; I love the way they always repped Nike

Yup and Kadeem said those were always his personal sneakers. He had to wear clothes from a wardrobe provided by the set but he was allowed to wear his own sneakers and he rocked it every episode.

Brings back good memories. I love my HBCU!

Forgot Phil Lewis was on here for this one....he looks so young her compared to when he did suite life on Disney
The 90's was the best!
This episode was from the 80s.
Dayne knew his best friend needed brotherhood more than he did.
im agreeing with that, Dwayne you mean? yes, so true.
Need the whole version of that song
Yeeeeeeeeeeessssssss! This is why I'm here!
I know it sounds soo good. I would love to be part of a group that welcomes new members this way.
The frat cadence makes the episode.
I loved that song tho lol
I love when they sang listen everyday to it
This was such an awesome show!
I need that song at the end

"Brothers we will be"
The song gives me chills, but in a good way!❤️ Is this a “real” song? Who knows the title?!? HELP😫😩
This is a song a black org called SISTUHS use
No it is not the real song .. It is a little different .. Alpha Phi's usually sing the song but other frats do sing it too .. Their is a military frat that sings the similar way
I don’t think it’s real bc I’ve been asking the same question for yrs! It’s a great song, isn’t it?

For real. I love this song
Me too I love it
It’s kinda wild how none of the females in this cast aged even remotely well.
Jasmine Guy looked decent, Cree Summer was cute but man they all look rough now
Aging is a tricky thing, aint it?
What you look like?
@@Joe_Parmesan one of the worst things that can happen to a completely healthy, happy and successful individual.
Ask any billionaire over 60 how much of their net worth they’d give up to be 40 again and almost all of them would say you can have all near 95% of it if I can get 20-30 years of being younger, better looking and obviously healthier.

Seeing White in NYC other day, she was great and she also ook great on live tv, i appeared at, in the new york city awesome audience. Sorry, maybe to you, but close up, front row seat we had a short week ago, there she is. or was, she look great in person not "old" like some see on here, or other places."Actress Cree Summer middle age, so not OLD yet, that is 65 and up. she look cute still. yep. not sure u r seeing her new photos, and stuff like that." and I m thinking Charnelle, cute dark skin actress, Charnelle Brown, is almost or sixty already . Never sick of watching this show. "
