Even though the switch is not as powerful as the PS4, I've seen some *_beautiful_* looking games on that system. Developers really need to stop sleeping on the switch!
I notice a few graphical downgrades on the switch my first playthrough but at least the gameplay is still there to make it feel like spyro. I appreciate both versions
Wanted to check how well the Switch version ran, and oh boy, I am impressed! It seems like it is a very good port. Obviously the PS4 version looks better, but I don't have one, so I'm gonna buy the Switch version ;)
The biggest downgrade for me is the total lack of interaction between Spyro and the water. Even without ripples, a simple texture would have been enough. Here there's absolutely nothing. It really stands out. I mean come on, even the bad Enter the Dragonfly had interactions between Spyro and the water.
As bad as Enter the Dragonfly was, it had some amazing water ripples. Also hate how there's no interaction between Spryro and the grass when he walks through it. The burned grass effect is also way too pixely.
@DeltaGem Well, I wouldn't go that far. Enter the Dragonfly may have had good water effects but everything else about it looked hideous, especially the animation. The Reignited Trilogy Switch port is beautiful aside from the small missing details we talked about and the animation is just as good as any of the other ports. And it's beautiful animation, unlike Enter the Dragonfly.
@@depressedunicorn4444 The grass animation isn't that big of a deal for me, I didn't even noticed it until I watch comparisons. The burned grass doesn't become black, that's why it looks not as good, especially when you're in the light. In the dark, the burned grass still looks good in my opinion. But the lack of water animation really is the biggest and most visible downgrade of these games, it just look off. Other than that I agree with you, the Switch port looks really good. Especially when we compare this to let's say, Bloodstained ?
The difference is minor. You can’t play Spyro Reignited in an airplane, train, park, beach under an umbrella or anywhere other than your home in a PS4. That alone makes the Switch version the winner
Probably not the best game to play in public places as a grown adult. But on a flight, train ride or in a hotel room, maybe even on the hotel TV, pretty awesome.

But on portable mode, the downgrades are clearly visible. Still looks decent of course but the downgrades are more present and more visible.

Nintendo Switch Lite is definitely the best portable system Nintendo has ever made...consider that point: Switch is portable, PS4 no. The Switch graphics is awesome considering that we are comparing a tablet with a console.

What bugs me about the Switch version is that even with all the compromises they made-- lower screen resolution, lower-res textures, reduced polygon count, etc.-- it still can't hold a steady framerate. This game is a beast made to run on a beast machine, and now I wish I had a PS4.

It’s very hard to play on tv , cause of the continuous frame drop. It give me motion sickness, also if I turn of motion blur. In portable it work better but is always like playing a streaming game, not a native one. And it get slow if there are lots of enemies or animations. The circuit and the level where Spyro must run fast are quit impossible to do (catch the thieves for example). I’m ok to play with a bad resolution (like the Switch porting of Crash Bandicoot), but it must work properly. Will Toys for Bob fix these problems with a patch? The game is available since september 3rd!
Does anyone know if the load times are longer on the Switch version? Crash Team Racing (also released by Activision) takes longer to load on Switch than it does on PS4.

If only the switch had the same quality as ps4 I had another game that did the same thing the quality was better on the other console and less glitches because I was supposed to be able to double jump and some of the platforms were double jump related
I have it on Switch. Not gonna lie it's noticeably uglier. Not a deal breaker, but you can see it, it also runs fine on Switch. If portability means a lot to you or you only have a Switch, it's worth it. However if you don't care about that and have another console, get it there.
Tessellation should be possible on the Switch, it's not even performance heavy. But they already removed that effect from the N. Sane Trilogy. Not quite sure why.
I have the Switch version and noticed this weird artifacting where it looks like there's a double image on somethings while moving the camera, especially in water. Anyone else seeing this? It goes away in handheld mode. Maybe it's my television?
It's because of the TAA, TAA is replaced with a cheaper AA in handheld mode, which do not show these kind of artefacts. Handheld suffers of dithering though, TAA while docked mostly hide it.
I can't disagree that the PC version is the absolute definitive way to play because it's just superior in every way, but I love being able to play this on the go and it does look and play very well in handheld.

I guess you could turn up your screen brightness maybe. And I noticed the cave sections look brighter on the switch which I like.
Liam L it's a cave, it's supposed to be dark
@@gmcubed yes but being brighter fits more with the theme of the game
@@liaml1694 Got my Switch brightness at max :p...I think the colours themselves are more muted?
@@Blast112 oh, I was referring to docked mode on a TV or monitor I don't know why I didn't think of handheld I just mainly play docked that's all.
I’m happy we got the game on switch
well switch seems not more powerful than ps4....
but when it executes its own exclusive game application... nintendo switch is really awesome
Much prefer pc over both.
I'm probably the only person in the world who cares about such a tiny detail, but I hate how the grass dosen't move when you walk through it on the Switch version.
It's not doing that either on PS4 as far i as can see in the video
and now TV mode? because the portable version we know it's 720p
Some cheerful music would fit the bill better.
The only noticible difference is the Switch version is missing flowers in some areas.
This game was so amazing on PS4
Nintendo Switch Lite is definitely the best portable system Nintendo has ever made...consider that point: Switch is portable, PS4 no. The Switch graphics is awesome considering that we are comparing a tablet with a console.
I hate the little things switch leaves out honestly its a real pain. The switch handles wither 3 amazing and honestly it could handle spyros water physics.
"It handles Witcher 3 amazing" Sure, if you're comparing it to how a potato handles Witcher 3. Though to me, the Switch far from handles Witcher 3 amazing. Lowered framerates, muddy textures and decreased foliage is not really amazing. It's quite mediocre.
Nintendo fans be mad coping in the comments if they seriously believe the difference is "minor" lmao
Literally everyone in the comments are saying ps4 version looks better, TF are you talking about?
@@cyrusgamer2648 Literally one of the top comments: "The differences are minor."
PS4 looks better but Switch still looks good for a portable console. I'd say its around as what the PS3 would be capable of.
*Switch up to 1TB sd card* 😂
Maybe better than what a PS3 would be capable of, by a small margin.
@@ThibautMahringer Atleast switch is better than ps vita :) Android memory cards are cheaper than only sony cards. Switch has LCD screen but looks like it is as colourfull as OLED ps vita. Thinner than OLED vita but it is larger. Wii u is larger than ps vita too but has lower resolution than vita. Now, i have a switch and enjoying my switch with looking to wii u videos while being jelious. :)
@@--SargonOfAkkad The OLED found in the PS Vita is a very cheap one. The blacks became grey after like 1 year of use on my unit. I prefer a great LCD to a cheap OLED. Also LCD don't burn in.
@@ThibautMahringer switch has LCD.
I mean what do you expect? Of course the graphic looks better on PS4. But the switch isn’t made for people who just want all the details. And it is cheaper but u can play everywhere. I think you can’t compare here. Both look amazing
Honestly, not bad!
What bugs me about the Switch version is that even with all the compromises they made-- lower screen resolution, lower-res textures, reduced polygon count, etc.-- it still can't hold a steady framerate. This game is a beast made to run on a beast machine, and now I wish I had a PS4.
I got this on x box one because it was on sell love it, I wanted to try the switch version at first but after seeing this in kinda glad I didnt. Don't get me wrong there are a lot of switch games that look good and run good, but the switch versio Looked blurry and a lot darker.
That must only be when docked. I have a Switch Lite and neither brightness or sharpness have been an issue at all.
Why not compare the 2 while the switch is docked and the output resolution is 1080p??
is it 720p on the big screen too? just wondering since it can run up to 1080p
Kristian Berget yes, it‘s 720p in docked mode and less in handheld.
720p docked and dynamic res up to 648p handheld.
@@ThibautMahringer thanks for letting me know
@@kristianberget6511 You're welcome :)
The result is not at all underwhelming for the switch so.. switch for me for the sake of space
Does anyone know if the load times are longer on the Switch version?
Crash Team Racing (also released by Activision) takes longer to load on Switch than it does on PS4.
I feel like I’m 10 again.
im ok with the lower framerate and everything but why is the switch version so dark its like a muddy n64 game
The switch version looks blurry as hell man, is it that blurry on a TV too? i have it on PS4 and just got it for PC was tempted sell my PS4 version for the switch version but if it looks THAT bad i might pass.
Never played a spyro games ever prob gonna pick this up in the future
Netherealm should've learned from activision on how to port games on switch. I mean mk11 just liiks horrible on the switch. It doesn't even use switches full power
@@ChiruKobra 10gb!?
If only the switch had the same quality as ps4 I had another game that did the same thing the quality was better on the other console and less glitches because I was supposed to be able to double jump and some of the platforms were double jump related
Video: kids game
Music: your grandfather died
Sony needs a digital only PS4 portable.
I have it on Switch. Not gonna lie it's noticeably uglier. Not a deal breaker, but you can see it, it also runs fine on Switch. If portability means a lot to you or you only have a Switch, it's worth it. However if you don't care about that and have another console, get it there.
Monster hunter world iceborne please :)

The artist in me: 😢
hello darkness my old friend…. framepacing :P
PS4 💙
PS4 :)
I agree that the PS4 is the better version but you got to admit that the switch is surprisingly pulling its own weight.
@Sagistar Como el mío entonces?
The stone floor is flat in the Switch Version.
Tessellation should be possible on the Switch, it's not even performance heavy. But they already removed that effect from the N. Sane Trilogy. Not quite sure why.
I see.
Switch es una consola portaril
I disliked the switch version so much i got and preferred the steam version. I feel like it stutters way too much.
I can't disagree that the PC version is the absolute definitive way to play because it's just superior in every way, but I love being able to play this on the go and it does look and play very well in handheld.
Nintendo switch look not bad graphics
I have the Switch version but I have to admit the PS4 version looks better.
What music are you using in the background?
Are you using the MClassic on the Switch ver?...
Solo Nepeon nope, i bought 2 so I would know the difference.
It would be useless, the game already have AA.
