Sure was. I mean, It is what it is. Somebody uploaded a video & broke it down to us. It all make sense now. & i honestly do see why Nintendo was so tilted. But also that video also made the emulation community relieved.
I've been using emulators for many years and I hate to comment "Every single thing he said I agree with", but that's what I'm saying. Even picked RetroArch for the Saturn. The man knows his stuff. Subscribed.
I'm pretty sure lime just took the last available Citra build and hosting it under a different name. I'd wait for updates to a proper fork, or the release of Mikage
You’re a good man for this , your videos are very helpful and straight to the point and you have opened a lot of peoples eyes to the awesomeness of emulation.
Flycast is the better DC emulator. Trust me bro, once you get your hand on the Bios Files by sailing through the Seven Seas, Flycast is a breeze to use. Since it's open-source, you get each and every upscaling options available to you. from Texture Upscales, to Super Widescreen, you name it. Oh and it also emulates Sega Naomi arcade roms as well. And for NES, there's another emulator called Mesen. Which has texture replacement, that no other emulators offer. Using that feature, many people remastered classic NES games with 16bit Textures, and it's awesome. Love the video! Long live emulation
Man you don't have any idea how many people you are helping or have helped. If it weren't you i wouldn't be playing call of duty finest hour or older call of duty games and many more games. Thank you very much man. I wish you all the best
What a fantastic video you made here, it's exactly what I needed. I'm a 90s teen, long time gamer and I'm just getting into the world of emulators after a long gaming hiatus. To know I can play games of all eras in a single PC and to show my kids now, absolutely blows my mind. Some of my all time favorites are Zelda: A link to the Past, Donkey Kong, Castlevania, Turok, Goldeneye, Killer Instinct, Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo series, Resident Evil2, GTA, Battlefield, The Last of Us, and so on.. lol Subscribed!
just a very small clarification. retroarch cores are not "basically" emulators, they are ACTUALLY emulators, just compiled to be used within retroarch instead of standalone. i had to compile retroarch myself, because the version i had didnt do something i wanted, so i looked up what libraries i was missing, installed them, checked the makefile and modified it as needed. i havent changed it since then. it works just as i want. i havent set up all the emulators only nes, snes, sms, genesis, gb, and some mame, as follows: nes - nestopia mame - mame2003+, mame 2010, mame 2016 because some games dont run in the most modern mame but run in older versions gameboy - sameboy snes - snes9x 2010 dreamcast - flycast sms - genesis plus gx
Thanks for the video, it is a good one. A few comments that may help: Vita3k's compatibility has improved a lot for almost a year, perhaps give it another go. As for N64 emulator I think RMG is where it's at now, sad to see you didn't even list it.
visualboy for gameboy gbc and gba is awesome and super easy to set up and use with upscaled graphics. For pcxs2 you forgot to mention the bios that are oddly hard to come by
Found your channel this week. thanks to you im emulating PS2 now. Very much appriciated. your videos and tutorials are very very good. keep up the great work
this was great recap my bro. i have a pentium 2020m laptop with 2gb ram, so far i randomly tested many emulator and games, but unfortunately my laptop cant run our beloved ps2 games
Huge thumbs up and a big thank you for this informative video. Only issue I have is that I use EPSXE for my Playstation 1 games, but you mention Duck Station. I've never heard of that one before. But you said it requires a BIOS. I wish you would have mentioned where to find the best one or name it so I can give Duck Station a test run. These are things I need to know since I only go with the best and most reliable stuff when it comes to my computer. But thanx for the video either way, family.
PCXS2 question: Can I resume my saved game from a memory card file that I have on a flash drive from my backwards compatible PS3? (P2 game saved and played on PS3)
I must admit 20 years I would of never entertained the thought of running emulators to play my games but these days and pcs being as powerful as they are and emulation being so good now I've gone the complete opposite direction I sold most of my collection a few years back and built a gaming pc and now I have every system and game I ever owned on there I love the way you can upscale older games especially old polygon games to run in much higher resolution and frame rates, then you have shaders which can make old Sprite based games look amazing, I do use retroarch with many cores as my main source for my systems its runs old systems very well, I only have 2 systems I run outside of retroarch and that is Yazu / Ryujinx Nintendo Switch and PCSX2, PS2 runs likes garbage in retroarch but the standalone emu is coming on leaps and bounds now especially with the nightly build version it's updated everyday with fixes and new bits, yup emulators are the way to go I love the fact i got everything in one place and done away with setting up consoles and sorting out wires its just there ready, I also play emulators using original console controller or I should say usb or wireless controllers that are faithful to the originals to get the feel like your really playing on original hardware.
Everything up to PS1, I just switched to RetroArch so I can have uniform setups plus it lets me resize the screen on any individual game so I can get rid of black bars on a lot of SNES games that don't fill the screen (like Final Fight that you have showing at 3:38)
Linux + Wine can run some of these emulators meant for windows. Personally, window's version of Xemu runs better then the Linux one on Linux because of Wine. In fact, they shouldn't bother making a Linux version since Wine does the work for them. Can even run Xenia on Linux.
I prefer using these emulators over Launchbox and Retroarch. Constant problems with Retroarch. Keep up the great videos. I hope this year brings us a better Mame front end.
What i dont understand is why the nintendo emulator devs who got shut down dont just send their cores, or whatever, to the other guys to make theirs better. Are they doing this for passion or money?
I always thought any emulator could play any and all platforms. I was just having trouble starting Spider-Man Web of Shadows (PS3) on AetherSX2 lol Thanks for the intel. 👌🏻
It is almost disrespectful that you didn’t even bother with the PC Engine, TurboGrafx-16 Emulator’s Console. PC engine had some of the best games ever released in a console. It was a huge hit in Japan. Granted a lot those great games were not released over here in the states but with emulation those problems were solved. Can’t believe you didn’t include that one in here. 3DO console was ok but there are emulators for that one too.
Biggest problem with Kega Fusion is that because it hasn't been updated since 2010, it doesn't run well on windows 8 and above. Genesis Plus GX on RetroArch is far better now.
The one emulator that somehow keeps kicking my butt is MAME any tips and tricks for beginners? Id like to play The simpsons arcade, TNMNT, and some classi ones
You're infact an emu /emulation Master a king too even & I'll call eta prime the emulation God or overlord I just Like all your vids cuz your Love for nastolgia gaming stuff it inspires me a lot deeply I had to subscribe cuz of this may i know the game @ 11:59 / 16:55 please please please I am needing it so very much so badly
Cemu is available for both Windows and Linux and I have to say that with Ubuntu I have much more higher and stable fps on Ubuntu with Zelda BotW rather than Windows.
I am much of a Hardware console not a Emulator guy . I have 3DS Capture card & Nintendo DS Capture Card , plus n64 , Original Xbox , Dream Cast console & a lot of consoles i’ve own.
I never understood why people call retroarch an emulator because it's not, it just a front end like batocera, retropie, lakka, etc, retroarch didn't make any emulator it just compile it into their front end.
I liked the emulators that this video recommended. It got me curious about the melon ds emulator, but i also don't like the switch emulators even yuzu. imo existing consoles or handhelds that are still in the market shouldn't be emulated it just beats the purpose of emulation and it's killing the industry
This was one hell of a week in emulation
that it was
What was the first game shown?
@@Amp1771die hard. Likely redream Dreamcast emulation
Comix zone needs its modern day next gen lift. Ahead of its time.
Subscribed.
There are 2 new switch emulators that are called sudachi and suyu.
Not to mention, there is another 3ds emulator being called lime 3ds.
I'm pretty sure lime just took the last available Citra build and hosting it under a different name. I'd wait for updates to a proper fork, or the release of Mikage
Suyu is just a fork of Yuzu and Lime is just Citra
They arent any new emulators they are just fork of the former
But which is the best
Just try ryujinx
You’re a good man for this , your videos are very helpful and straight to the point and you have opened a lot of peoples eyes to the awesomeness of emulation.

Love the video! Long live emulation
And flycast can run any Naomi games like zombie revenge or wave runner gp even project justice can work
Man you don't have any idea how many people you are helping or have helped. If it weren't you i wouldn't be playing call of duty finest hour or older call of duty games and many more games. Thank you very much man. I wish you all the best
Very helpful for beginers who's trying to get into retro gaming. Thanks man

I love this channel.
Thank you
NBA Jam SLAM DUNK! With this one bro. Really took me back with some of the clips. Long live emulation!
DANG! What a great video! Thank you :) defiantly a job list of things to do for my retro fix :)
just a very small clarification.

i havent set up all the emulators
only nes, snes, sms, genesis, gb, and some mame, as follows:
nes - nestopia
mame - mame2003+, mame 2010, mame 2016 because some games dont run in the most modern mame but run in older versions
gameboy - sameboy
snes - snes9x 2010
dreamcast - flycast
sms - genesis plus gx
I respect you on the video...I have Dolphin on My S23 Ultra and ePSXe...had that for 7yrs #Respect
Awesome channel, definitely reinvigorated my love for retro gaming. Stay up bro
I would like to play Street Fighter Alpha 2 and Shockwave for Saturn again. Something about the Saturn version of that Street Fighter was awesome.
Thanks for the video, it is a good one. A few comments that may help:
Vita3k's compatibility has improved a lot for almost a year, perhaps give it another go.

Great job! I love your channel and information. Nostalgia is very powerful.
All this helps so much just getting into the emulating game now there's so much to know better list the community helps so much
The world of emulation opened up to me all thanks to you. Thanks for continuing the fight!
this was great recap my bro. i have a pentium 2020m laptop with 2gb ram, so far i randomly tested many emulator and games, but unfortunately my laptop cant run our beloved ps2 games
Crazy that Project 64 is still alive and kicking in 2024. Such a great emulator!
The work up put in to make this video I appreciate it. Stay safe.
I had the main ones, but with ur help I got the rest of them, and even found all the mednafen bios 😁
Not gonna lie I followed this exactly and using the same emulators now. Can confirm it's spot on with what's the best to run the roms
Huge thumbs up and a big thank you for this informative video. Only issue I have is that I use EPSXE for my Playstation 1 games, but you mention Duck Station. I've never heard of that one before. Thnx for your hard work.. I'm using psp, ps1, ps2 emulaters on my phone they work just fine
No problem
Excellent brother thanks as always!
I started off with the Atari's a thousand years ago🤪
Great video, thanks so much. You're so easy to listen to!
Awesome video bro ! :)
Video idea: do a tier ranking of all the emulators regardless of whats best for each console.
Great List! Personally, I use Mesen-S for SNES Games.
Thank you so much for the suggestions for emulation.
I'm surprised desmume still exists today. I used to play Pokémon B/W and B2/W2 with it when my DS Lite broke
Thank you for the rundown!
Great video! Now I have some new emulators to try!
PCXS2 question: Can I resume my saved game from a memory card file that I have on a flash drive from my backwards compatible PS3? (P2 game saved and played on PS3)

Well that's some kind of nostalgia console I like the setup
Everything up to PS1, I just switched to RetroArch so I can have uniform setups plus it lets me resize the screen on any individual game so I can get rid of black bars on a lot of SNES games that don't fill the screen (like Final Fight that you have showing at 3:38)
Arcade alone has so many separate for niches. Maybe a separate video for that. Example Teknoparrot.
Damn! Didn't know about the Dolphin Bar. Gotta Get me one of those! Thanks😁😁🤟🤟
I missed def jam ffny now I don’t miss it because of emulators best thing ever
Great video brother. Really ggod stuff.
Linux + Wine can run some of these emulators meant for windows. Personally, window's version of Xemu runs better then the Linux one on Linux because of Wine. In fact, they shouldn't bother making a Linux version since Wine does the work for them. Can even run Xenia on Linux.
Can you have one frontend and have all the emulators launch from within that ? If so, what do you recommend
That’s crazy, had no idea that the switch could be emulated
I prefer using these emulators over Launchbox and Retroarch. Constant problems with Retroarch. Keep up the great videos. I hope this year brings us a better Mame front end.
What i dont understand is why the nintendo emulator devs who got shut down dont just send their cores, or whatever, to the other guys to make theirs better. Are they doing this for passion or money?
I always thought any emulator could play any and all platforms. I was just having trouble starting Spider-Man Web of Shadows (PS3) on AetherSX2 lol Thanks for the intel. 👌🏻
Great video, being a long time emulation layer - I love your videos - would like to colab with you at some time.
Nice detailed video but people like me just want to know the best emulator that works the best for the most consoles.
Biggest problem with Kega Fusion is that because it hasn't been updated since 2010, it doesn't run well on windows 8 and above. Genesis Plus GX on RetroArch is far better now.
On Sega Saturn and lower, do the emulators you recommend have graphics upscaling?
Great video! Thank you
Good video. However, isn't YabaSanShiro widely known as the best Saturn emulator?
does the PCSX2 emulator also "emulate" the backwards compatability that the ps2 had for ps1 games?
CXBX claims about 100 games playable, Xemu has over 800 games playable...
Stella is my Dogs name. For that, you get a thumbs up
next content mobile android emulator.. thank you!
The one emulator that somehow keeps kicking my butt is MAME any tips and tricks for beginners? Id like to play The simpsons arcade, TNMNT, and some classi ones
wow this is a great job 👍🏼👏🏼
You skipped the Sega Master Sytem 😢
if a game exists on both PS2 and Gamecube would it be better for me to play it on Dolphin instead of PCSX2 Nightly?
You're infact an emu /emulation Master a king too even & I'll call eta prime the emulation God or overlord I just Like all your vids cuz your Love for nastolgia gaming stuff it inspires me a lot deeply I had to subscribe cuz of this may i know the game @ 11:59 / 16:55 please please please I am needing it so very much so badly
Great video Sir, Salute
Ps2 is still unmatched not even the 5th gen compares in my eyes
What's a genesis emulator and a cd emulator with a speed up that isn't too fast. I've tried Kegafusion that speed up way too fast for function
i got red rings twice lol I tell ya that console was so good its the goat if red rings dont happen.
what is the name of the race/car gunner game he plays on the ps3 segment
The PS3 only having a 60 gb hard drive was a problem? The Xbox 360 only had a 20 gb hard drive.
Xenia available for xbox series now and a bunch of other stuff supported on Xbox
Cemu is available for both Windows and Linux and I have to say that with Ubuntu I have much more higher and stable fps on Ubuntu with Zelda BotW rather than Windows.
Should have covered the turbografx and neo geo too
Imma need that PS4 emulator pronto!
I can never get the saturn emulators to work on retro arch which makes me sad.
on my last Comment i point out there is problem with kega Emulator
but there is more the newest version freezes up wen you go full screen
What's a good vectrex emulator ? also awesome channel!
OpenEmu can run a lot of the "non-CD" games I find. Vectrex is listed on there, but it's only for Macs.
Thank you so much ✨
I am much of a Hardware console not a Emulator guy . I have 3DS Capture card & Nintendo DS Capture Card , plus n64 , Original Xbox , Dream Cast console & a lot of consoles i’ve own.
I own most of these as well, but I still prefer emulation.
I never understood why people call retroarch an emulator because it's not, it just a front end like batocera, retropie, lakka, etc, retroarch didn't make any emulator it just compile it into their front end.
Because the cores themselves are emulators, only usable with retro arch, and are not the same as their standalone variants
a lot of those emulators are also available on Android
Are these for android
Watch the video lmao
UrCasualGamer i have a question for you. if i run romstion though steam on a steam deck will it boot and play my games correctly?
BRO I LOVED SONIC ADVANCE
You forgot to mentioned Amiga and Commodore 64 emulators.
Cemu is available for mac too
Would the emulators you recommend work on the rp4 pro hardware?
Cemu is weird I got one game to work but when I repeat the same steps for other games it just doesn't appear.
GOOD STUFF 👍👍👍👍👍
I liked the emulators that this video recommended. It got me curious about the melon ds emulator, but i also don't like the switch emulators even yuzu. imo existing consoles or handhelds that are still in the market shouldn't be emulated it just beats the purpose of emulation and it's killing the industry
I really want a Nintendo switch but my parents won't get it for me
What was the first game shown/being played - looks like a fun beat em up brawler
I believe it was "Final Fight".
Simple64 has worked better for me than project64 personally
Why I can't find the fkg ROM in RetroArch and Dreamcast
Why doesn't resident evil 2 work on project 64
N64 was my favorite controller 😂
I don't care what they say. Redream, & Retro Arch DuckStation, PCSX2, RPCS3, Including You. Yourself are the G.O.A.T, bruh ❤💯
Lol thanks 😊
@UrCasualGamer Lol your welcome bro 😄
