Obviously scamming anyone with any product is bad but being a pokémon card scammer just seems so...low. Like even insurance scammers and people who make phishing emails would look at you in disgust.
@Death Omen People are actually making jewelry with Mucha prints and claiming they're legit antique pieces? Wow. I know that Franz Winterhalter portraits, as well as portraits of the Romanov family (especially images of Alexandra and the children) are frequently used for scams like this, but I'm surprised that anyone would fall for a Mucha print since they're so frequently reproduced and recognizable (and already "collectable").
From a Magic:The Gathering player/content creator (another card game): trust me, the card market is insanely lucrative. A ton of cards are worth serious money and selling fakes could hypothetically generate someone great revenue.
I run a comic book shop, you'd be surprised how many people take magic and pokemon cards. There's a good way to tell with magic cards but people are very tricky.
There's actually a ton of money to be made in selling counterfeit school trading cards. People who know what they're doing won't be fooled, but all it takes is one Timmy buying your counterfeit Black Lotus and you just made 20 grand in profit
Just realizing this also, don’t know if anyone has said this, but he probably was going to scam them because they knew nothing about Pokémon and didn’t expect to have leonhart there and the other guy. Also probably would’ve tried to talk them out of opening it if those 2 weren’t there

Don’t know how Logan is still around and having a huge effect on not just RUclips, but the world. Somehow he had a redemption arc, unlike his brother. This whole thing is like an anime
If you're genuinely interested in knowing more about his whole "redemption" thing, I would recommend D'Angelo Wallace's video on him (and Jake also). It's very informative
I wouldn't say he had a full redemption arc (yet). But unlike Jake, I do hear good news about Logan from time to time. And it does seem that he's trying to change his content and behaviour for the better. It's easy to be the good brother, if Jake is your brother. But he could also have easily stayed with Jake in the "bad press makes money" scene, which he didn't. Actions speak louder than words. And so far his actions seem to show growth.
I mean, Logan may have not found the end of his "redemption ark", but at least he's beginning to mature. Idk if 2020 really is changing everybody, but he seems to grow after all the controversy. From his BLM podcast to his newfound interest in Pokemon cards, he's doing pretty well-unlike his brother who've been raided and stuff by the feds. (Logan still defended Jake though, but maybe that's because they're family or some shit) I wouldn't say his "redemption" is 100% genuine, but hey, let's give the benefit of the doubt to him for once. Maybe one day, Logan will find his redemption and finally mature, finally apologizing (unlike Dawson or another YTber I can't remember with a crappy apology) for his past mistakes, and grow from them-becoming a "better" person (despite the shadow jester that is Jake that follows him around). Or maybe he'll have the same treatment as Pewds, still stuck in controversy but still a decent guy?

8 1/2 months later, Pokémon card price inflation is still an issue. Thanks Logan and Bald Bastard. As a Pokémon TCG collector since 2012, I hate you with every fiber of my being.
@@Aims1502 This may be surprising, but no. A lot of the older single cards aren't worth all that much even now. A huge amount of EX, GX, etc., are anywhere from $1-5 each. The only real things that make money are sealed product and Charizard cards, but even those can be hit or miss on the prices.
That guy was definitely trying to get one over on them, without a doubt. He got so nervous when he found out they were opening it right there, and the way he couldn't stop preemptively giving all this backstory and rationalization as if he knew they were going to be fake. Combined with the fact that people called him a scammer before it even started. I feel no hesitation in saying his behavior from beginning to end was indicitve of him being up to no good. He thought about all those arguments he was going to make if the scam came to light. Those guys are suckers. He tried to scam them for a quarter of a million dollars and not only were they apologetic to him and bought his story, but they dealt with him again after lol
I was just about to make a comment about that until I found yours. Idk how this guy is working as a scammer And Its Working he's so obvious about his lies
While you may think the others are stupid , they might not be, they may just be calm and non-confrontational. They're rich and have lawyers , so if they got scammed like this, it would be more effort to them than it is worth, rather than sick a lawyer on the situation. This is probably why they even called for the unboxing live on camera, and didn't just vault the box.

As a kid who spent a year living in multiple hotels cause I had no place to call home, charity is charity regardless if the donor is doing it for validation or clout, they're still actually doing something to help. Because sending "good vibes and thoughts" doesn't put food on the table or give someone a safe place to sleep.
There is a thing called useless charity. It looks good in theory based on perceived value. I was in a safe parking program while living in a car. People wanted to donate food and it was usually can goods and other items that required cooking. We could take the atuff you could eat out the box, but can goods we couldn’t use were pervasive. Cooking in the safe lot wasn’t allowed, so most of us used things you could eat without prep or bought food already prepared (a lot of us worked, just couldn’t afford apartments. And prioritized our shelter….our cars). We couldn’t use things that required stoves or ovens. People were mostly cleaning out there cabinets not thinking about what we need. And when donations were rejected, we were called ungreatful. We were just trying to protect out safe parking vy not doing things we weren’t allowed to do. It’s much more valuable to the end user to sell the item and donate the money so that the money can be used in the way most useful then donate something based on a perceived value if sold the right way. Not every ´stuff’ donation is a usable donation.
The fact that these guys are getting ahead of themselves with their plans is exactly why they were easy to scam. The first thing a con artist does is try to make the mark feel invested-- and these guys practically did all the work for him.
wait but i thought jarvis was insinuating that logan was possibly part of the scam, as he had made mr. guru look credible. but if logan was completely innocent in all this, i agree with you wholeheartedly :)
The fact that Logan Paul isn’t the center of this scam is only not surprising to me because of dangelo wallace, that man has changed the internet’s entire opinion of that Paul
How would Logan be at the centre of the scam? He just bought cards from the bald guy, he didnt like tell people to go buy from him or tell the money guys to try and double him or whatever.
@@isabellehodgetts6162 I think the point is that it’s surprising that Logan Paul is involved in a scam as a bystander instead of the instigator. When you hear his name in the same sentence as “scam” or “controversy”, it may be surprising to find out he’s not involved like one might think he is, given the Paul brothers track record for usually being the centre of trouble. Well, it’s surprising until you watch D’Angelos video on him and find out that Logan is actually, you know, growing as a person, and then start seeing he’s the more mature of the two
18:18 that's exactly what's going on. You're really astute, lol. It's most likely why he's been constantly interrupting them with lies about their "concerns" before they even voice any. At the very least he could have taken to their social cues / body language better and been like "anything to ask?"
I would love if they instead of "are you okay" they were like "We will have to get the police involved because before we can confirm the validity of your story you might have tried to scam us", like real business peopoe would have and see guru pour like a fire hydrant
I'm sorry... I can't get past the "donate the cards to charity" part, lol. I can just imagine an orphanage or something getting a box of donated pokemon cards and thinking "Well its not money or food but at least we can battle and trade monsters..."
I think the goal was to donate the proceeds from reselling the, since investing money and donating the proceeds seems to be their deal. That said it is a funny image
dude people donate money and food way more often than they do toys. there is literally nothing wrong with donating pokemon cards; let the poor kids have fun, too.
They weren't giving them cards lol they were gonna resell the cards and give the charity that money (tho they could've just given a charity money in the first place but ahhh). I giveaway toys, cards, etc to kids too tho as I know how much silly things from a dumb series they love can mean to them when they're poor. Tho for charities that take food and clothing doing both is even better ofc.
@@ngocto3290 More likely because the statement was technically false; it hasn't been proven that the dealer knew the cards were fake, so it was technically fake news to announce that yes he tried to scam the Dumb Money guys. Although we all know it's pretty likely.
@@jaretchapman265 Jarvis also said in a community post that the video looked like it wasn't getting pushed by RUclips so he decided to change the title and thumbnail

@Death Omen obviously they're not serious

Don’t know how Logan is still around and having a huge effect on not just RUclips, but the world. Somehow he had a redemption arc, unlike his brother. This whole thing is like an anime
I wouldn't say a redemption arc, they're just lying low before they do some other stupid shit.
(Logan still defended Jake though, but maybe that's because they're family or some shit)
I wouldn't say his "redemption" is 100% genuine, but hey, let's give the benefit of the doubt to him for once.

As a kid who spent a year living in multiple hotels cause I had no place to call home, charity is charity regardless if the donor is doing it for validation or clout, they're still actually doing something to help. Because sending "good vibes and thoughts" doesn't put food on the table or give someone a safe place to sleep.
Actions speak louder than words.
@@TheDawnofVanlifehope you’re doing well now

But like what did Logan Paul do here the bald guy did everything
How would Logan be at the centre of the scam? He just bought cards from the bald guy, he didnt like tell people to go buy from him or tell the money guys to try and double him or whatever.
@@isabellehodgetts6162 I think the point is that it’s surprising that Logan Paul is involved in a scam as a bystander instead of the instigator. When you hear his name in the same sentence as “scam” or “controversy”, it may be surprising to find out he’s not involved like one might think he is, given the Paul brothers track record for usually being the centre of trouble.
