I think that the Castform one is pretty accurate. The water cycle is basically when the sun evaporates the water to be turned into clouds and then, it ends up falling as rain. The sun form may represent the sun evaporating water, the water form is the rain and the ice form is a gimmick to the possibility of the water falling as hail instead of rain (obviousy with cold temperatures). I don't know if i explained myself well. Hope it helps.

Castform is partially based on tiny plushies Japanese kids put in their windows wishing for a nice weather the next day (Teru teru bozu). Castform has a rain form and a hail form because kids use those things to prevent hail (yeah) and rain, and a sun form because kids wish for sunny days. A sandstorm form wouldn’t make sense as there are no sandstorms in Japanese cities.
Also there is no sand involved in the water cycle but water, sun, and hail are involved.

For the combee wasprince thing, Vespiquen, has the word vespula, part of the scientific name for wasp. Therefore, wasprince would be valid because vespiquen is also wasp-like.
I thought it was from vespa, the Portuguese for wasp...
Also possibly from Vespidae, the insect family containing most wasp species
I guess all those words are Latin, that's why there's the similarly with the Portuguese word...

Yeah the sun form exists because the sun causes water to evaporate.
And yes the sun also heats up the earth causing winds due to high and low pressure areas, this is how sandstorms are created of course. However.
Being based around a water molecule in shape, known for being a pokemon that has a cellular structure similar to water should indicate it reacts to temperature differences and humidity like one would expect from water. Heat causes it to become warm, rain causes it to grow in size, while hail causes it to freeze over. The sun plays an important role in the water cycle, and they couldn't really make a vapor form, since that would in essence cause people to wonder why it isn't just fire type, or why it has two water type forms, or why water vapor is a fire type.
Sand simply has no place in the water cycle: The entire premise of the pokemon. In fact, dust and sand storms are washed out of the atmosphere by humidity, rain, and since castform's body is similar to water. I have reason to believe sand particles simply don't mix with its body in any way.

Here's an idea:
What if Castform's, er, forms are actually based on the different forms of matter water can take?
There's the Rain form, that one's obvious.
There's the Blizzard form representing ice, and it's an ICE type.
That leaves gas with the Sun form, and when water heats up, using FIRE, it becomes steam.
