This used to be my favorite move after I learned it in 4th grade! I haven’t done ballet in so long and watching this, hearing all the old ballet verbiage makes me want to again

It is also known as "tour de jete". Even at 49 years young I can still do this advanced ballet move quite well.
It is even used by lead dancers in paso doble competition dancing as a highlight, outside its common use in the ballet environment!!!!

My problem is that I always rond de jamb. This is in my competition dance and I need to get it down. Thank you for the tutorial.

It is really cool to compare the styles and execution of the tour jete and the tour jete in gymnastics. I did gymnastics and that's where I learned how to do it, but mine looks very different from this one.

I believe tour jete, entrelace and grand jete en tournant are all the same movement

It's a common myth to battement front. Even the student flips the battements to the side before her heels even leave the ground when she actually has to jump the step at 1:16 in the video. So while the student is being told to demonstrate it incorrectly, she performs the step correctly. Here's the screen capture image. imgur.com/KtWSHeP

1:07 how do I fix the leg circling around thing? I can’t figure it out for the life of me

I hear you:-) Personally, I make sure their grand battlement is directly in front and not ‘open’, if it’s out to the side or at a weird angle they then under turn their body and can’t brush behind for the grand battement back.
A trick I often use is standing next to the student at the barre when they do a tour jete, if their leg in circling they hit the teacher:-)

I'll never know how they can meet both legs in the air, turn around, and then be in arabesque all before landing.
