    I just bought the 12v Makita "Power Cutter." The cutting head end looks the same as this Ryobi. I bought the Makita tool because I thought less power would exempt the cutter from several jobs that I wanted out of it. The 12v works well. I'm glad I got the 12v cutter; I don't think a 4v or 6v cutter would be good for anything but small jobs.

      You're probably right, but the effort needed to repeatedly cut cardboard or clamshell packaging with scissors is like hauling buckets of tar up a ladder to a roof. Not to mention the odds of slicing your hand open on clamshell packaging, that shit should come with a warning.

    Happy that you demonstrated carpet tile and the synthetic grass. I was looking for a gauge on cutting carpet. Everybody says it shines for clamshell or blister packaging, but on 99% of products, you can just slide a knife through the mounting hole against the cardboard and slide it around the edge and it cuts quickly and easily.

  • @2down4up
    @2down4up Год назад +4

    I use this and like it alot. It’s not perfect and definitely isn’t the most powerful or fastest tool but I can cut a whole lot of blister packs or cardboard with much less effort then a utility knife or scissors. There actually is a battery charge level indicator right next to the top switch. Definitely not a pro tool but far from useless and I do like it a lot.

    Ryobi can't modify how the English language works. If they wanted to be pronounced Reoby they should have spelled their name properly. Same goes for Brett Farve.

    • @robertjoseph1592
      @robertjoseph1592 2 года назад

      Except it's a Japanese name spelled with English (technically Roman) characters. The capital city of Japan, Tokyo, is pronounced Tok-ee-o, not Tok-eye-o. The letter y when used in a Japanese word or name is pronounced ee, not eye. Always.
      And Brett Favre (don't know who Brett Farve is), says hi.

    This tool and tools like it are trying to create void and fill it but scissors and knives already fill that space. To me, I'll stick to scissors and knives for package opening or cutting cardboard and fabrics. This seemed like a cool idea and I almost purchased one of these during one of the Christmas sales till I stepped back and thought about it for a minute. This thing is either an impulse buy or you'll use and abuse it (then its not for you anyways).

    I like ryobi and I own some ryobi tools, but those 4v lithium tools are not worth the money due to the fact that you have to remove the cap each time you want to charge the battery, and you have to put the cap back each time you put the battery back in. Ryobi should have give us the ability to charge the battery from the tool so then it will be worth buying. As for now there are many great 4v tool on amazon that is cheaper and better. For example, for the price, I would rather buy the worx snip zip instead of this ryobi cutter.

      Definitely a miss on the battery indicator. I'm guessing they couldn't package the boost converter to allow charging other devices without making the batteries larger/more costly to produce. If someone knows better, feel free to correct me.
