    This is awesome! My Vanleigh Vilano has these built in! Had no idea what they are for. I have one tire wearing really badly so glad I can make some adjustments!

    I have a question why do you do full turns that’s just a Caster adjustment wouldn’t that just put the bolt back in the same place Because that part moves as you turn it it just pushes it forward or backwards if you do a full turn it will just put it right back where it was

    Very helpful video. I just checked my boat trailer and found the right side measures was 23.55 ft and left was 23.57 ft to the front tires. Distance between the front and rear tires was within 2 mm, so I think that about as good as it gets.

    HOLY CRAP! LOL ! ! A drop spindle with spring "under".... A huge stack!... I have a trailer in my yard right now, & that's the problem I'm fixing .. The spring plate & U bolts hang lower than the (rim)... Not only does the trailer get hung up on the slightest un-even surface, but it is a VIOLATION.... You can't have metal that sits "lower" than the rim. If you lose a tire, the u bolts are first to hit the road & the firework show will be beautiful!
    Oh, moving -1- end of the leaf spring 2 inches will result in a ONE INCH jump......

    By moving the bolt on the eccentric plate I see how the axel moves front or rear. What happens to the spring on the middle spring hanger or equalizer between the two tires?

  • @dar7771
    @dar7771 Год назад +1

    Thats confusing. If one side is off why would you do the opposite side the same two turns. Wouldn’t you want to turn the front and rear of the same side? I have this system and would appreciate clarification. Thanks for the info.

    I am installing the Road Armor system and I need to check my alignment with the Correct Track. When you loosened your bolts to make the adjustment with the plates did you leave the weight on the springs and tires or did you use a jack to relieve the pressure?

    So after you make alignment don't you need to redo all of the measures to verify the changes? The nail marks would have moved.

  • @southfork67
    @southfork67 2 года назад +2

    I would argue that this adjustment is only for tracking. Alignment is the adjustment of caster and camber on each wheel.

    So for a single axle trailer, the tongue triangle is the measurement you need to get this right. Two inches of lift sounds about right. Four inches from an axle “flip” concerns me. This plus a shock kit , and viola!

      All of these adjustnents can be specialised to your prime mover or tralier by forementioned principle

  • @swss12
    @swss12 Год назад +2

    Nice work. However your diagonal measurements based on the tangent and plumb Bob of the wheels will not be accurate. Tires are not exact. Recommend to plumb off the axle centres for better measurements. These measurements also don’t have a huge impact on alignment. Trailer will run slightly on an angle while travelling with ever so slight more side load due to airflow

    • @kurtbyars766
      @kurtbyars766 2 года назад

      I'd check to see if it's got the proper tongue weightv when empty. Axles maybe too far forward ? That's usually the case when the problem you mentioned happens. Contact Atlas spring and axle in Wichita ks. They are unbelievable good ! Been in business for ever and they know their stuff like no other ,

    Very good video , my question is why does the alignment changes with different weight?

    • @kurtbyars766
      @kurtbyars766 2 года назад

      It's due to the axles are higher on the center so as weight is added the angle changes which makes it follow better and not tip over as easy.

    one year ago i had both axles replaced had got a new one and it came with a little bend I changed it and notice it was bent so i drove trailer to Missouri they changed both axles a month later I hit a curb on drivers side the front axle I could see was tilted inwards like almost One o'clock I noticed that the back tire on same side was wearing out on edge I figured from the front axle being bent was causing the back to follow it and was wearing it out this week I bought a new front axle and installed it took about 2.5 hours i put all new bolts shackles in it tonight i looked at rear axle noticed the top of back axle was leaning in just a little bit not sure I want to put a second axle in it again axle was $600.00 and fuel was $100.00 to go get it I have changed the back axles 2 or 3 times I have a 22 foot trailer like yours people unfortunately bend axles more then you think could you find out how to bend it so its straight Up and down like 12 o'clock and 6 pm ?

      The axels are manufactured with a slight bow in them. The axel should be installed so the highest point of the bow is at the top most point (bow is pointing up at trailer feck). You're buying a lot of axels for no reason. Hope you saved the ones you took off.

    Did you do one of the on-line RIVA trainings in addition to going to the tech seminars? Or was there another school you went to? I've been thinking about the cert for myself. Friends are always asking me to fix or find out about this and that. (I'm a technician of other mechanical sports, lol). Thanks in advance for the technique and VLOG! :)

      For my story, head to my web page and click to the resources - > about us page. At the bottom of that about us section there's a magazine article I wrote for Workamper News Magazine. It talks about how I was an engineer and transferred into this trade and the steps I took to get here. Since that article came out several years ago I have continued to attend Factory training and Technical Training. I do plan on putting together a separate video series on business best practices. It takes more than technical know-how and having tools to run a successful business like this. Phone calls, text messages, warranty claims, scheduling, insurance, taxes Etc will bury even the best technicians along with all their tools if they don't set up their business properly.

  • @markhenry6486

    Prior to any adjustments your axles were parallel to each other. Therefore, the tires would wear evenly. It's not like one wheel or one axle was fighting others. But this is what you said was occurring, you said one tire was wearing quicker than the others. This would not happen with two parallel axles, AKA four tires all tracking in the same direction. Therefore, your solution, should have absolutely no effect on the problem. Mark Henry.

I need some advice what do I do know ❤I know it's messed up it's on them 🤔 but no one cares I live in my trailer with dogs I can't afford for new tires all the time what can I do if the 3rd party agrees with them😢

    This was very frustrating. It’s a 15 minute video and when it got to the point to actually do the adjustments he says “I don’t need to show you that part” and skips actually doing the work. I was hoping to see *how* to make adjustments, not just the theory as to why.

    • @MyRVWorks
      @MyRVWorks  3 года назад +4

      After you make your measurements, if you need to make an adjustment it's as simple as loosening the nut & bolt and turning the yellow stop sign looking plate the necessary number of stops. I figured most people would figure that part out.
