- On Saturday, July 25, 2009, the Tenerife International Film Music Festival celebrated the 80th birthday of film score legend, Jerry Goldsmith. Music selections, as chosen by Jerry's longtime friend and Varése Sarabande producer, Robert Townson, included music from Jerry's vast cache of science fiction and horror scores; Star Trek: First Contact, Planet Of The Apes, Poltergeist, Gremlins, and Total Recall.
But for fans of The Omen, this clip is a rare opportunity to see Jerry's Oscar-winning music performed. The first movement of the Omen suite, "Ave Satani," (The Omen Main Title) is conducted by festival creator, Diego Navarro.

The most haunting film score I've ever heard. Performed brilliantly here.
As a long time horror fan I just have to share with you all this little domestic tale from my teen years, 'cause listening to this brought the memory of it back instantly.
One night a long time ago I was in my bedroom listening to this (I still own the 3 Omen OST CDs and DVD movies as the series is one of my all time favorites), home alone, bedroom door closed but windows open. I was sitting on the floor and backs to the open windows, skimming thru one of those giant H.R. Giger books (I owned most of them back in those days). Man, I felt like something evil, a dark shadow of some sorts perhaps, would jump on my back or neck from outside the window at any moment. Horror films never gave me nightmares or some such (I started early, with the Hammer Cristopher Lee Dracula films and others), but to my recollection this was the only occasion in my life that I felt a legitimate aprehension caused by fiction (by now I suppose you all know that reality is much much frightening). I stopped with everything, got up and closed the windows as I couldn't shake the feeling off.
I hope you enjoyed this little tale.

I remember watching this film when it first came out in the 70's. The music is so haunting. You can feel the presence of evil all around you. Brilliant Masterpiece of music. It does what a score is supposed to do in a film, TELL THE STORY !

I´m a big fan of the Omen movies. I was like 8 or 10 when i watched this movie for the first time and since then i love this amazing piece. Is the most darker, scary and gloomy thing i´ve ever heard in my life but that´s one of the things that makes this piece so damn epic. Amazing. I love it.

I used this as my ringtone after years of using Tubular Bells from the exorcist (which was the first ringtone I have ever used) and just now, I have googled the lyrics of this and there happened to have some translation of it to english. Man! This is one creepy song! I don't know what possessed Goldsmith to come up with such powerful rhythm and hair raising lyrics! Since it's Halloween month, I'm using this again as my ringtone for nostalgia!
