I have added live sand to 15 year old system many times and I have never had a cloudy tank for more than a few hours.

Did you add an entire system worth of sand or just some to top up what you already had? I just know that through starting systems without rinsing sand, it caused a cloudy tank for days. Even running a reefmat1200 and 2 Skimmers it took several hours to clear up after rinsing. I can't imagine how long it would have taken if I just dumped it in without doing it.

Turning all the flow off just delays the inevitable I didn't bother so my filtration could do its job 👍
