It's a good decision you made.. working 12 hours a day is common in Dubai. It's not worth it. I quit too and now I have my own business.. never going back. Life is not all about work

Unfortunately ,ticked some boxes, like WLB and negativing feelings of walking up and driving to the office! But I realised I just don't like the strict rule of 5 days work week , as I seriously enjoy the work itself and have that passion to constanly improve my skills in it! Plus, good luck with your new adventure, looking forward to your update!
This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my RUclips channel 6 months ago about self development. Now I have 350 subs and > 100 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I couldn’t have learned without getting started in the 1st place.
The conversations you have with yourself when you are in a position like this are quite something, glad you found a happy ending, wishing you an exciting adventure in your next chapter :)

I can relate so hard for the happiness meter going super low, dreading work, and just not being able to manage a work life balance. My role is as a Business development manager. I literally related with every single word and you even articulated things in my brain that i struggle to put into words, it was like seeing someone play back my daily struggle-- literally EVERY SINGLE WORD. I make the same food decisions as you, I also struggle with having a full life when co-workers all seem to be doing crazy athletic things or hobbies, I'm miserable and all I do is complain.
I just wanted to validate you like you are definitely not alone. I've been in consulting for 1.5 years now and I have reached a breaking point to the point where even if I wanted to stay, I'm so burnt out and unhappy that when I put in my best my work isn't even good anymore which has been so hard.
I sadly am on a visa in a foreign country and really don't want to move back home which is the only reason I'm still in the job, but I think this video also helped me realize I need to prioritize my health, well-being and happiness and make a decision. Thank you I'm so glad I found you.
P.S. your apartment background is GORGEOUS.
Good luck with your next chapter! I work internally for a Big 4 which is no where as bad as the client facing side and I feel the same about culture. Consulting will always be there if you ever change your mind.

I am so happy for you! I have been trying to get into the consultancy in Dubai but the barriers to entry are so high which is so disappointing. But after seeing this video, I feel kinda relieved. I am in the Tech industry and crushing things but such is life. You like what you dont have until you have it. 😂

This is me right now. I’ve been in consulting since February. I joined straight out of uni. So glad that I got my dream job BUT the saddest part is that I’ve been on the bench since I joined! I’m doing tons of internal work (slide decks and meeting facilitations).
Now I’m thinking of quitting but I’m concerned about finding the next job, as it’s not easy.
Im sorry to hear this but trust your gut feeling and dont be scared, just put yourself out there and apply! If it makes you feel better wait until you have another offer before quitting! Best of luck ❤️

Thank you for sharing your experience! I’m actually struggling with work-life balance myself. I wanted to ask how different was your experience doing your PhD and working in consulting. I have considered doing a PhD but many people say it can be consuming, so I was wondering if it can be as challenging as consulting (work-life balance wise).
Oh no nothing like consulting! PhD is very self driven so people sometimes find it difficult to draw the line as to where it ends and life starts daily but in my experience my PhD was very well balanced lifestyle, except the few times with deadlines for the thesis which is normal
I just finished an interview with one of the major consulting firm and they were ready and congratulated me on clearing rounds with Partners as well. Oh boy that was a stressful time! But I’m glad that they are not able to match my current package and it seems like they moved on. I don’t think it’s for me either. I do like spending intellectual time but I do relate with you on other parts like creativity and work life balance.. I mean keep control of your time with you right ?

Heyyyyy. Am a cse grad from a tier 2 clg from India. But am not really interested in software or coding stuff and I've been gng through these videos and suggestions abt management consulting and it interested me. Im ready to put long hrs and even learn more in smth am interested rather than the coding stuff which might be not as stressful as consulting but i still wanna do it so am thinking of dng a masters in management degree.... do u think if put good efforts and if i study in a good b school I'll be able to crack a nice paying job??? Coz the masters degree is gng to be a huge deal to me. I wanna be sure before even running it with my parents. What'd u think

Definitely not
There are consulting firms you can choose your time, and not overload you. Find smaller ones, like NGOs maybe.

You and your friend Ali are the biggest encouragements for young people these days to not strive for employments, but rather for unrealistic expectations. There is so much influx on “famous” RUclipsrs with no real life jobs. Buhuuu you were sad for starting your job from Monday to Friday … how many people feel like this 🙄🙄🙄
there is a reason why most college graduates that got a job as an investment banker or management consultant after 1 or 2 years of working there.
