I can relate! I quit my public accounting offer to stay with a company that aligns with my value. Even though I am making a lot less.... I am so much happier right now :)
Yesss I found you through "I quit my job" video because I was looking for an inspiration as I myself was in a really toxic job and like you said I listened to my intuition and quit that job stayed home for a month but then found much much better job, I feel so happy when I look back at the journey and unknowingly you have been a constant companion in this. Thank you Zoe!!
I remember feeling so identified to my last management job as well and when I left I felt I had no identity and had no idea who I was before. Leaving my dreadful job was the best thing that happened to me
That was the video that lead me to find your channel! I didn’t work at big 4 but I worked at a large international public accountant firm and I was so miserable. I found your video while I was having a crisis debating whether or not to quit my job after a year there and it gave me reassurance that others have gone through the same thing and that I wasn’t a failure for wanting to leave. I’m so glad I listened to my intuition and left because a month after I quit a started a new job that I’m still at today and I am so much happier!! I don’t stress about work 24/7 like I used to and have time to myself again. I was resentful at first when I left but looking back I’m also at peace with it and I realized I learned a lot of life lessons while there. I will always listen to my intuition from now on.
that is so amazing! i love this story, thank you for sharing ❤️ when we are in the middle of hard times it really sucks, but its so beautiful to be able to look back and reflect on what we learned.
I think i found that video a couple of months after you uploaded it and it helped me so much. I've been subscribed ever since and I love your content. You're so honest and open and you make me feel very confident in the idea that I deserve the best for myself because you chased it for yourself. Watching this video, I am so happy for you and excited for myself because I feel like so much is possible for me. Thank you so much for being real and honest xx
wow, I have been watching your videos for 1 year now and you can actually see sooo much difference, you irradiate so much happiness now, it is a whole different vibe! I am really glad for you, people can definitely make a 180 change in their lives when they really set their minds to, and you're an example of that! This was really inspiring to watch :)
I don't know you but I'm proud of you too, you're 100% going to be super successful in your career because you seem like such a motivated worker. Asking questions is soooo important, never stop learning!
That original video is how I found you on RUclips and it came at a defining moment for me too. And it's super special for us to have the year update. Love and light 🌺✨
i don't remember since when i followed you but i do remember watching that video back then, and ever since all i can say is that you def look different, better. An although we don't know each other, it is obvious you have grown so much in 1 year so be proud, flex on it you worked your part and you're doing amazing truly glad to see you happier!
I remember me watching your ‘’I Quit My Job„ video, one year ago(the first video of yours, that I saw),and I felt how miserable you had felt at your previous job,and now here we are:you being happy and proud of yourself and me being happy and proud of you😊💛
Yes, I found you through that initial video. Great to see the follow up one too. I made it to my 1 year mark and just quit too!! One year overdue. I’m still in serious detox mode now. Thanks for all of your advice :)
Hey Zoe! This is a great topic and you are so brave to open up about all that you have gone through at previous work place, as well as how it has affected your personal life. I have been there, so I can relate to some of your feelings. Very glad that you feel fulfilled at your present job and positive in your everyday life 💛
Hey! Hope you don’t take it the wrong way- I love love the sponsors you choose! You are def a real vlogger when I watch other bloggers like Gretchen or anyone else all their sponsorships are so focused on CONSUMPTION CONSUMPTION CONSUMTIOPN! And it’s so fresh to hear you have real content to work with
hey - thanks so much for saying that!! I only want to promote things that will add value for people or I would actually spend/waste MY OWN money on (and you guys know im cheap 🥴) Thanks for the support ❤️❤️❤️
I´m really happy for you!! I actually found you recently and it was through your video of quitting your job! But I´m really glad you are finally on the right track!
I'm so happy for you Zoe! For being brave, finding a way out, and reflecting so beautifully and deeply on this change. I also worked for a consulting company with a similar mentality to the Big 4. It was toxic in so many similar ways. Quitting was one of the best things I've ever done.
Hi, I am very happy for you. You are less stress. It was putting menal toll on you. You share more about big 4 pro and con, work relate, so people know what they getting into it. What it like to work there. What you are doing now.
I found you through that video because I wanted to quit my job too. I put in my two weeks but I actually ended up staying and I moved to a different department. So happy I found your videos!
Hey Zoe! I don't normally write to people here but this time I genuinely felt the need to share with you my story :)...I did found you a year ago because of your big 4 consulting video and I must tell you that I was in the exact same situation as yours, I remember listening to you and not believing that someone else on the other side of the world was feeling in the exact same way I was, I was miserable, totally feeling like I had to beg for a project and being surrounded by a completely toxic situation and I must say that your video and the one you did with your dad (I still remember it) helped me so much with my decision of quitting. since then I went through rough times with pandemic and unemployment but right now I'm in a much better place, fighting every day with impostor syndrome and trying not to let my job define me, just as you are describing here. I feel really related to you and all your transition, I did feel like I broke up a really toxic relationship and I'm still in the healing process but oh boy! it was the best decision ever, thank you for sharing it, ... ahh and PS: I also find Linkedin soooo toxic, I do post there but not to brag about how amazing my company is, I just like to share interesting material that someone in my field must enjoy as well, thank you again and I send you a big hug! ...Aura.
Hi Aura!! Thank you for sharing ❤️ Like I said it the video, it really took me a long time to transition into feeling more comfortable. It will happen for you too! I wish you all the best xx
Hey !! I found you with that video and I'm glad I did. I binged your videos after that and related so much that you are my favorite RUclipsr now in lifestyle/productivity genre. Since you upload on Sunday and I live in India, I watch your videos on Monday mornings before starting work which really helps me with my work procrastination ( I have anxiety and I procrastinate on work because of so many irrational fears)
Amazing video Zoe! Weldone, so proud of you! I worked in consulting previously and I can agree on the fact they expect you to find projects yourself 😕 and then it looks bad when you don’t have work to do
@16:15 spoiler alert! I work for a global professional service firm and I have audited clients where every personnel (same years of experience as me) is paid double than I am as a second-year associate. So safe to say Big 4 is necessary not "the place" if one is to find a job that pays well to associates. Not to mention the ridiculously long hours and the ever-existing realization that nothing is ever good enough. :-P
you made my day when I saw you uploaded two videos in a week! actually, when I first found your channel, the first video I watched was when you were getting Maggie! also, wanted to say to keep up the great work that you are doing
Everyone says accounting is boring, but no one talks about how stressful our jobs can be, and how consuming it is over our lives, I've been in the same situation as you where I'm constantly thinking about work, even outside of work and constantly worrying that this and that needs to be done and sorted at work and always doubting myself as a worker, it was so lovely seeing this video made me feel sorta not so lonely ❤
I recently quit my job after having covid. The job offered no benefits snd my boss didn’t keep his word about raising my pay after my evaluation nor did I get paid while I was sick with covid. I was thankful to keep my job but when I got back to work things weren’t the same. He was threatening and nasty and when I approached the situation, he laughed in my face so I left.
Life is all about learning and understanding who you really are. Tears you shed are ways that heal you, sleepless nights are nights when God is closer to you, so don't stress about any choice you make. It's not easy living in the big world and everyone is gonna be expose to the things it has to offer. Finding the right work place that fits with your big vision is important for your heart to beat steady. You shouldn't dread your career. Have a vision, think big, ignore the nay sayers, work your ass off, and give back to your community🌟.
I also spent months bashing my former employer after I quit. I had to keep reminding myself, literally no one cares about how much your former company sucks! Find something else to talk about! Lol. (But really they were pretty bad.)
Thank you so much for this video !! You are truly sooo encouraging through your videos 😊🙏🏻 I hope it's not to "intrusive" but I'm finishing my last year of university and I would love to ask you a question regarding work so I asked you on LinkedIn. If it bothers you I can understand. But I would truly appreciate being able to have your input if it is possible.
This phenomenon is the unfortunate negative toll that unfettered capitalism has on the workers. The capitalist class/elites have made a concerted effort to systematically exploit the working class. They effectively got rid of the majority of worker unions, socialist leaning policies, any parties left of the democratic party (alot of people don't realize that the democratic party is ideologically center right on the political spectrum), and pushed pro-capitalist/anti-socialist propaganda. All of this collectively amounted to the working class being corporate slaves which resulted in the deterioration of the mental health in the working class. These problems can be fixed but our political system is unfortunately garbage and is working against the interest of the majority of us due to politicians that are bought by corporate lobbyists. I think that millennials are collectively beginning to understand the economical and political shitstorm that we inherited from the same older generation that ironically calls us lazy for not achieving the same level of success. They ignorantly say this while ignoring the fact that they drastically benefited from government support, a cheaper market, and better wages when compared to the standard of living.
I can relate! I quit my public accounting offer to stay with a company that aligns with my value. Even though I am making a lot less.... I am so much happier right now :)
that's awesome! money is basically worthless if you're miserable
How you doing now, update?
