  • When the city Sarajevo was under siege during the war in Bosnia, the very idea of open society was under assault. Working together with Bosnians-from artists to engineers-George Soros supported efforts to ensure the survival of the city and its culture. In a time of fear and darkness, the human spirit proved invincible.

    It was genocide.
I worked with a guy from Bosnia when the Genocide began.
    Too much to say here.
But he was very serious about the 2nd Amendment and that an armed population is why this shit doesn't happen in the US

The international community or in clear words the major power countries imposed an embargo of munitions or war material but they knew that Serbian have a lot of material and Bosnians didn't have, indeed they wanted the Serbians take over, but the dirty job must be done quickly for the public opinion but as the Bosnians resisted in a epic struggle the plan falls and they was obliged to intervene and they did it with bad faith, this was evident in the sad episode of Srebrenica whith the dutch army, you can read or hear the french officer Guillaume Ancel one of the stakeholders in that war...

I rooted for all Bosnians (regardless of religion) for their right of independence. One issue does concern me. International aid would have been sooner if the aggressors were Muslim.

The Balkans have an incredible history. Fascinating but complex. Did all kinds of research to learn about the history of it's people. What did I learn you ask? It is more confusing than I ever thought possible.
