    I went and watched the Queen - Under pressure (Live at Wembley) video! The way he was making the crowd sing and the F you he said, to his stage presence! Just wow!!

      He was the ultimate front man and as you no doubt now know having watched that, his voice was just as good live. Now you might find yourself down a Queen rabbit hole :)

    Vanilla Ice used this without Queen's permission and was sued for it. This is a meshing of 2 concerts Queen and Bowie never performed this live only in studio. However David was the unfortunate one to have to follow Queen's legendary Live Aid performance. As David went on stage he said how the f#$#k was he going to follow that. Freddie responded I killed it

    Freddie is an absolute legend. If you want to see something really cool look up Green Day Bohemian Rhapsody, it is a crowd of 50,000+ waiting for Green Day to come on stage in Hyde Park and they sing through the entire song Bohemian Rhapsody.

    Great reaction! The song is about all of the pressure and everyday problems we face as a society. It is a song that always remains relevant, lot of people cover this song. You should check out more from Queen, they have loads of great music. A good choice would be Save Me - Queen live at Montreal 1981

    After Freddie passed away, Bowie would perform this duet in concert with his bassist, Gail Ann Dorsey. She did a great job while laying down that bass line.

  • @chrismeadows4216
    @chrismeadows4216 3 года назад +2

    Both parties actually sued Vanilla Ice. He didn't credit them and claimed to change a single note when he sampled the bassline. He had to settle with May and Taylor and pay for Under Pressure's licensing (he doesn't own it, he's able to sample it) just to get partial royalties. Queen had a demo going into Hot Space that they weren't going to otherwise finish. David lived in Switzerland near where they were recording, and a manager reached out to have him visit them. They jammed some cover songs and he was asked to do backing vocals on a song called Cool Cat. He didn't like his work, so they finished this song, with David and Freddie improvising vocal parts separately. The two clashed over production. This footage is from two shows. One is Queen at Wembley by themselves, and one is from the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert. David didn't perform the song until then, but added it to his setlist afterwards, singing with his bassist Gail Ann Dorsey.
    The song is about pressure in general. It's very chaotic and unfocused. David's style at the time was to string words together artfully without thinking too deeply about things after a decade of really complicated lyricism. Pressure pushes down us in all sorts of ways.
    You've got a sub! Keep up the great work!!! 💙

    Yesyesyes Queen!! They were amazing, and this song really is a gem. Their live stuff is really great. I hope you will react to Who wants to live forever live at Budapest. Also used in the movie Highlander. Much bless to you and keep up the good work!!

    Your realization at around 2:33 that you knew that bass riff from somewhere else is so good.

    I got to see them do this live, sadly without David Bowie, Roger sang Bowie's part, back during the "Hot Space" tour in Madison Square Garden in July 1982.

    Huge thanks to Rudi Dolezal who put this video together so skilfully. What a shame they didn't ever perform this live together. You might like to react to "One Vision" which shows the band in the studio. It's fascinating to watch and a great song too based on Martin Luther King's famous speech.

      In fact, his eyes are the same color. He only kept one pupil dilated for life after a fight when he was a teenager.

    You've absolutely gotta check out the 1973 Hammersmith version of David Bowie's Rock N' Roll Suicide. Bowie had been around for ages by the time Queen released their first album, and Brian May in particular loved him. That show was David's last as a character named Ziggy Stardust. You're going to love it, I have a feeling. ❤

    The BOWIE shots or camera shots are from the TRIBUTE TO FREDDIE MERCURY WITH ANNIE LENNOX, and as far as I know, FRED AND DAVID Never or Didn't Sing That Song Together -- so the EDITING IS nothing short of brililant.

    The video is a fan mish-mash but nonetheless pretty good!! The original music video is very symbolic to the pressures of society pushing down us. Glad you watched Queen’s live version at Wembley. Oh Yes Vanilla STOLE the bass riff without getting permission. He was sued by Queen & David Bowie!! Now can you imagine Vanilla’s horror facing the Gods of Rock? And then trying to explain away that you changed one note? He lost!! 🤣🤣 Great reaction! Please do SOMEBODY TO LOVE live in Montreal 1981.

    Most people born around the turn of the century have no idea that Vanilla Ice "borrowed" the melody from this. I believe Queen and Bowie were not happy about that.
    Love your reactions Ash. Your laugh gets me every time. Thank you for your channel.

    • @mattmid7012
      @mattmid7012 3 года назад +2

      Yeah they threatened copyright infringement and I think it was eventually settled out of court. I believe Vanilla Ice later bought the rights to the song, presumably so he could keep earning from his only hit!

    • @chrismeadows4216
      @chrismeadows4216 3 года назад +2

      Bowie appreciated the idea that a rapper like Vanilla was becoming successful, but disliked it that he wasn't willing to acknowledge his direct influences, especially while taking their music directly. Bowie was always very blatant about who he listened to and whose work inspired his music, so Ice was like a mortal enemy to him. He liked the song, but detested it as well.

    You have a very good channel here, researching and give interesting commentary and still trying to learn as much as possible about the song. You react to some very influential music and films. You deserve a lot more than 3k subscribers.
    May I request reacting to Black Sabbath as I believe it would fit your channel well, a band that is considered by many the first true metal band.

    Unfortunately Freddie and Dawid never performed together. It's a mix of Queen's wembley 86 and FM tribute concert 92. Audio is from studio recording. Watch Queen Under pressure live at Wembley 86 is MUCH BETTER then mix.
