I am amazed by your skills of observation and your ability to articulate so eloquently. Hereʻs a brain teaser...now that we know Iā ʻoe e ka lā - hula (same as kumu Maiki recording) and Kiʻina ʻia aku nā pae moku (from puke Historical Perspectives of Hawaii) are 2 pauku of the same Mele, doesnʻt it make sense that both pauku be done in the same way, paʻi or no paʻi...? You are pololei, some mele are lengthy and that is why weʻll never see them at MM, unless the hoʻopaʻa/kumu hula are able to transform these mele into timely works of art. I truly enjoyed your critique. Mahalo nui!
Mahalo nui. I try to listen to what I can and interpret what I can as well as input what I have been taught. Being able to creatively take moʻolelo/texts and transform them is talent in itself and I for one appreciate it and do it myself lol. E mālama pono...
