- The issue of Islamism in Britain is back to the top of the agenda. It was central to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s speech on March 1st; George Galloway declared “This is for Gaza” on winning the Rochdale by-election; since October 7th Hamas-sympathetic groups have taken the streets of London every week and now even Parliamentary protocol has been overturned to protect MPs from Islamist threats.
So how have we got here?
Who better to to enlighten us than Ayaan Hirsi Ali. Ayaan is the epitome of courage. An apostate twice over, first laving Islam and then after becoming a prominent New Atheist, she has now converted to Christianity.
She explains how Islamism came to Britain in the first place. We discuss the problematic term “Islamophobia” which has been adopted by the Labour Party. The problem of grooming gangs, the failure of interrogation and much else.
Where is there common ground between Christians and Muslims? Who better to ask than a woman has been both. We talk about her conversion to Christianity and the response of New Atheists like Richard Dawkins.
Ayaan is one of my heroes. I first read her book ‘Infidel’ ten years ago. To sit with her was an honour. I only wish it hadn’t been to discuss such a dire situation.

I am a former muslim and now Christian. I was in madrasa for quite long time, 12 years. Not a single day my teachers said 'it's okay to be friend with jews and christian'. They always told me 'if they are nice to you, don't trust them. They are enemies. Even if they said 'assalamualaikum' (peace be with you), you only can reply 'alaikum' (be with you) because it's sin to pray back to non muslim'.
Even in the most peaceful community where people just live normally, in mosque is different. I first discovered Ayaan Hirsi Ali back in 2006 while i was a teacher to unaccompanied minors who'd arrived in the UK in various ways. Most of them were Muslims and I learned a lot about their religion and what the immans taught them in the mosques here. It was very revealing. I used to cite Ayaan in classes as a tool for teaching English to stimulate debate. Most of the students wouldn't engage simply telling me that they'd been warned about teachers criticising Islam and not to join in any discussions about it. That's the reality and tells us why Islam is completely incompatible with democracy, freedom to criticise and free speech. In short, its a dangerous political ideology and threatens Western values in ways that most people seem totally unaware of.

When I was a kid I remember watching question time when they were debating about whether or not Salam Rushdie should get an OBE. I didn't realise until much later the reasons these cowards were even debating this was because this man an ex Muslim british citizen had had to go into hiding for writing a book and being an ex Muslim critical of Islam. He should have been given an OBE for that matter alone. After the islamist attack in the Charlie Hebdo cartoons every single newspaper in the world should have filled every single page with those cartoons, instead of us putting the French flag on public buildings every single building should have proudly shown those cartoons, instead of us putting french flags in our profile photos every single person should have out the cartoons. It would have been a mark of actual solidarity for free speech and that this type of ideology is not tolerate. Western government should have said enough of enough. Got rid of faith schools and said to any first generation migrants who supports any anti Western radical doctrine bye your deported. Thanks to cowards of the older generation my generation and working class people who never wanted this have to love with it.
I am 74 and have been speaking up for decades. People who think they know me now see me as an eccentric old man. When I speak I get admonishing looks from my son, which saddens me deeply.

A start would be to withdraw from all international refugee conventions, since most refugees into the UK are Moslem. Then, the UK can have an immigration policy it decides for itself and compatible with social, political and environmental stability goals. That could include a certain humanitarian intake - which could include some Muslims selected for their individual compatibility and/or educational qualifications. As an aside, Muslim countries like Indonesia and Malaysia have never signed the UN Refugee Convention. And countries like Japan are not called ‘racist’ because they limit foreign immigration and choose to maintain their own cultural integrity.
