Great job boys. One thing that nobody else talks about racing is the fact that when you're new, you're absolutely craping yourself on the podium. Everything is terrifying and can be overwhelming to a new starter. So nice to see clubs out there that are welcoming and supportive, especially as so many clubs take it way too seriously and it can take the shine off it.
Cheers Bob hopefully we are making it easier for people to get into racing
@@PopalongRC Absolutely. Maybe a little less daunting for some to try racing and also letting everyone know that we were all beginners once. The nicest take away from this is seeing just how much enjoyment can be had from a good quality RTR car. We all love the high end kit but it absolutely ups the stress levels at the track as there is just so much to think about. There's alot to be said for just fitting the control tyre at your club, turning up and having a drive around. Thanks again for sharing :)
Cheers Bob.
I know there is more in the car as well so hope I will do better next time with the RB10
Fully agree
This is so real! I got really into nitro 1/8 buggy when I was in my late teens. I quit because it was too cut throat and I wasn't having fun because of it. Now, in my 30's, my dad and I are getting back into RC because we found a local club that was incredibly welcoming. Allowed us to run our mod motors, turned down, in novice class until we got our 21.5's. We're having a blast doing it together and enjoy exposing my son to the track. He's only 2 and is out there marshaling for papa and dad on practice days.
The track does a lot for STEM camps and stuff, has a great novice class and rental program, everyone has been inviting and helpful... it's just SOOOOO different than my solo experience in 1/8 scale nitro at 18 years old.
Came here to find out about the RB10 but instead found out how amazing that club is.
Looking forward to going back this winter
I'll say this - you should try putting these two cars on an actual dirt track, as they are, and see what happens. I bet you the RB10 will actually be slightly faster. Reason being that the box setup for the RB10 is a bit less focused specifically for the high-traction carpet, turf and sealed clay surfaces typically favored for 1/10th scale racing and a bit more focused on being able to run on a wide variety of surfaces, including rough, blown-out dirt tracks, whereas a carpet-tuned B6.4 is going to get bounced and tossed around on anything not perfectly smooth.
This needs to happen
…carrying it like a beginner in the original box… made me laugh cause its 110% true… lol
Great job on that b6 body
Cheers Cole
Whaaw racing with Lee Martin!
Not in the same race but in the same event … still pretty cool
Thanks guys. I've been looking at both kits so this is perfect. Just like to see them on clay!
No clay over here due to probability of rain
5:52 that was amazing.
Cheers dirt rider
Great seeing some offroad buggy racing. Cars looking good. But always room for improvement. Can't wait for the next
Cheers Wagon … move action coming soon
Damn, that looked like so much fun!! I'm so tempted....
We had a blast
Just the beginning of the journey
Stay tuned
I really want to go racing now. Just need a competitive car 1st.
I can recommend the b6.4 but also the Schumacher LD3 is hot of the press
Can't wait to see what comes next, be interesting to see how the RB10 does with a pinion change!
I am looking into it for the next outing
Cracking vid, I had my first off road race at the weekend with my b6.4 haven’t raced in 30 years had no run time at all, was setting my trims in the first heat, managed 4th in the B final, was very pleased with how it ran.
It is a great car
Awesome journey
turn your shocks upside down
It might surprise you
Thank you for your hardwork. And video's
Cheers Paul
Think JQ has debunked that one
Need to put a shorty pack all the way forward in the RB10 for carpet for sure. Some weight in the front would probably help too.
great vid. 👍 to the club. The fast/sponsored guys here are switching to full slick rears for indoor carpet. Rotates the car quicker in turns w/throttle. Like Racing Karts when young. Everyone has their own setup though.....nice to see a mutual vid again. Serious cojones bringing a rtr box to a meet!
I heard of drivers switching to slicks might have to look into it
Love the video! I hope I get a chance to see both cars with the same ESC and motor. For a real comparison.
Don’t know about identical esc and motor but I definitely think a quicker set up in the RB10 would be interesting
Advice. One tip I do . Make labels for batterey sides. One saying "CHARGED" one "EMPTY" place the batterey in your case with side sticking up that shows status...
Yeah it was a numpty moment
My first race this weekend with RB10 hoping not to come last, but you have to start somewhere 👌
Slow is fast … try and keep it clean
Great video boys 👍
Nice it a bit longer.
Thanks 👌
Cheers Philip
I'm getting the red one!
Red makes you go faster
Very nice video. Great job. Looks like loads of fun. Very nice facility.
Cheers Blue
It was a great place to race .
Great content, thank you!
Cheers wild
Thanks for watching
Loved this vid! The vlog style racing vids are my fav and being able to see it from a beginner’s perspective is gold! That’s me! Liked for this vid after catching your race with Kev and the others. Interested in the RTR concept but honestly, I’d just do an older used b6 model pro kit build car. Those RTR’s, while great for what they are… just not the race bred beasts like the pro kit cars. This helped me to make that decision. Great stuff mates!!! So glad I found yas!!! 😊
Glad you like the Vlog style we have loads of it on the channel .. especially our iconic and revival content
I'm going to say this - if you think RTRs can't be competitive racers out of the box, look at the ones made by Serpent.
@VestedUTuber fair point
Loving it.✌️
Cheers Johnny
I got the rb10 as first timer. I love it. Im not a good driver. It can take a beating. Wow can it take a beating! I changed the gearing and it flys!!
What gearing did you run with stock motor.
@@PopalongRC 28 pinion 75 spur. Motor only got hot in the hot sun. Other days was fine.
Great video! Really enjoying these - awesome content!! 👍👍
Cheers Paul … thanks for watching
I would love to go there with my tamiya BHM Wild One! Iol it would win the coolest looking buggy hands down!
Great vid and interesting to see how you both did with two different class buggies! C final winner is a great result as a rookie mate!
But will say l prefer the good old days of racing! Way too serious for me! I raced back in the day with my Boomerang and its Demon motor and Parma shell and it was way more relaxing and cheaper then those expensive crazy fast rockets!
I did ok too l won some trophies😉
But then nothing beats the golden era of RC!
Great stuff guys!
Cheers Mad Bee
Happy with both cars
RB10 did amazing considering just how much slower the motor combination was.
As for the B6.4 what a machine. Such a pleasure to drive, not bad for its first outing so looking forward to this journey we have a lot to do
@@PopalongRC 😉👍
This was really inspiring to watch! I want to start driving on a track also at some point, so there was a lot of useful info in there for me, thanks for sharing your experience!
Thanks for feedback … plenty more to see from this project
Another great video fellas. Keep up the good work.
Cheers Fool
Thanks for watching
That looked a lot of fun. For another cost effective buggy have you guys checked out stuff from LC Racing. Good quality parts, and the parts are cheap. They're popular for Racing in Asia. DMS Racing for UK stock or Ali express. Wltoys copy some of their cars but with lower grade materials.
Good to know
We will see what is about
Hi, thanks for the enjoyable video. Can you or anybody else out there tell me why most wings on racing buggies are not painted?
Oooooow great question
Additional weigh maybe
Love the little bit of rock music there guys! 🤟Buggies do look great fun and the running commentary is great. Good luck dialing those new rigs in. Couple of questions about the track? Why do they have carboard on one corner? Also, I have some old hose pipe myself, what do those guys fill their hose pipes with (Fnar Fnar)? Gravel? Sherbert? Unicorn Tears?
Pipes full of sand
MDF on floor is slippy to drive on so it changes how you drive that section
How about the tamiya TT02BR vs B74.2?
I like your thinking
Perhaps Carl gets the pro buggy this time and Mark runs the budget car..
For a class that is so big I can't believe there are no mid motor budget options available anymore, there used to be Durango, Absima and Team C 🤷🎁
True
I’m sure someone is thinking about it … RB10 did ok considering
@@PopalongRC from speaking to one of the main UK suppliers the lack of non race kits is down to QC in China. That's why we have rollers being produced as they know the car is at least complete and not missing any parts. My take would be to manufacture somewhere else like Taiwan as Hobao, Traxxas and Awesomatix do, cost is a little more but then so is the quality and the QC. Tamiya has most there manufacturing done in the Phillipines
Great video i cant wait to see more. im building a RB10 right now out of all my DR10 parts. But ive wondered if id be better off just buying a B6.4 team kit.
Depends what you want to get out of your racing and where you plan to run it ..
@@PopalongRC it will be a high bite indoor track. im in the same boat as you guys ive never ran indoor carpet. and i haven't raced in about 15 years. looking to have fun and not be last. for me the reason to start the rb10 is the amount of parts i have already because of the dr10 that can be swapped back and forth. also im not running stock electronics its a 17.5 class that races.
I think if you get it geared equivalent to other cars and all running 17.5 you should be ok.. from what I am hearing it out performs mid motor cars on low grip tracks but struggles more on the high grip stuff.
Are you going to race or going to win.
If you strictly race it, yes, b6. For race/parking lot/ bashing, go for the rb10. I have a feeling parts support is gonna be around for many years to come like the b4 did.
My son and I and trying to get into the sport we are lucky to have access to a private car park. But can we use our out door cars for indoor racing club. Sorry for the silly question trying to learn
Depends what your outdoor cars are
General rules is determined by what class you are running.
If running on carpet the car needs to clean and fit for purpose as you don’t want to be responsible for damaging the carpets.
@@PopalongRC thank you trying to build my confidence to go to the local club. As we aren’t great at driving but we both enjoy playing with the cars
I would love to see a Traxxas bandit vs rb10. Stock vs stock
Interesting combo 🤔
@PopalongRC right. I know which one would win but alot of entry level kids/adults don't know even what team associated is or they may think they are strictly a racing company. If you like rc then you know who Traxxas is.
How good did Lee Martin look driving his new Schumacher? Did he give any advise on setup to you? Also, have you checked out SHRCCC (Farnborough), they do an open practice on Tuesday evenings?
We will take a look.
Had a chat with him but did not talk setups .
Car looked good
23 pinion 87 spur. Fast!
I’m thinking about getting the rb10 for dirt track would same gears work for dirt track?
Ya that’s what I’m running on. Outdoor loose dirt track. Watered down of course.
Best investment though will be Proline Blockade Tires in rear and proljne ribbed fronts.
@@jm4472 thanks what spur gears comes with the Rb10?
@@kevincohen1082 87 is the stock spur. 18 is the stock pinion but it just doesn’t cut it.
@@jm4472 cool I’m going to be racing in the 2wd buggy class probably won’t be able to hang with the kits but still should be fun
Will the rb10 only take a shorty battery ? Or will a standard size lipo fit in there ?
Running standard LiPo sticks …
Why such a big motor in the buggy? Most people run 17.5...
so the rb10 has the equivalent of a 13.5 motor in it and the kit buggy as at 6.5 motor thats a bit of a discrepancy
Really pleased with the progress I have made with the RB10
Still almost stock and only a couple of laps off the fast cars
I would beat you all with my FTX Comet….😂😂😂😂
That can be arranged
@@PopalongRC 😂😂😂
Great video guys . loving the content. Next step (when the weather is better) 1/8 Nitro...........Lee martin is not bad at that either. check out the new Nemo car.
I'll expect to see some 1/8 nitro racing action guys !!
Maybe we can get Lee Martin to show us how it’s done…
Hey Guys.....Did i hear it right you got a mention by Lee Martin and an invite from Jon to go to Nemo ?
Youre gonna wet ur pants when you see the N1 !!
Yeah we put a video on our face book page … looking forward to it. Although it is still a bit cold out and days are short so will wait until a little later in the year
fb.watch/ijJZOO1pHi/
Will probably do a video to include this at a later date …
