Add to that a High-torque digital metal gear servo, and a water-resistant enclosed receiver box. All of this packaged together in an outstanding factory-finished off-road buggy body with wing.
What I have learned with my limited racing experience is its all about consistency... I honestly think considering the price differences I'd call how you got on as a win ..... Giant killing mate keep it up.....
Consistently is key. I'm new to the hobby also. But 90% is faster than 100%
It’s all about the consistency…
Cheers pennine
Loved this video, i don't have bundles of cash to throw around, so this sort of thing is right up there for me, getting the most out of a cheaper car is key for someone like me. 👍🏻 consistency is key, and making it easier to be consistent are both very important. Great video, looking forward to watching the rest of this series. 😊👍🏻
Looking forward to following you in your journey with this TA rtr buggy!
Cheers Paul 3outing this weekend coming so interesting to see if the changes make a difference
I have an original RC10 from the mid 80's which has served Me well. I'd love to bring it back to life, but I think it's more cost effective to buy an RB10 like this. Great video. I'd have to use a 3s LiPo as 30+ mph is awesome! It's also nice that it can be upgraded. Great value per dollar.
They actually race vintage stuff sometimes… if you get a “modern” buggy, you could most likely use ALL that stuff, and a weaker motor, 21.5t or so, and it would be very simmilar to the stock stuff from back then(full charged, HOT) but will run for 30 mins instead of 7… haha… i like to watch the vintage stuff… never got to wheel any of them…
You were at a serious disadvantage, Kevin admitted he had set up help, plus he's run this track before. I don't know about Tomley. but you definitely went in colder than anyone. Carpet is a whole new level of grip. Keep diggin'! Plus I think a race should be held in neutral territory where you're all on the same level.
Watch this space there is more to come to level the playing field for
@@PopalongRC Great! 🚘
i have watched a team driver take an out of the box rb10 with carpet tires kick the crap out of drives in 21.5 class buggys. its a great car just glue side walls change the shocks and you should be good
@@unorec1983 I believe that totally it doesn’t matter how fast you are, it’s all about consistency
Still running stock shocks which are not the best but making progress. With the buggy
Will be good to see the improvements, definitely more to come from the car I think
Let’s hope so …
@@PopalongRC you could also reduce the rear toe-in if you have the option to do so. Not sure if it has a geared diff or not, if it has you could go thinner to make the car rotate off power more
Just goes to show when it comes to team associated, even their out of box rtr is quite capable.
It’s a pretty good car
Throttle control and breaking is key, getting in and out of the corners the fastest is key to winning races!!! Practice practice practice then practice some more 😁 I'd love to see ya whoop these guys with a RTR hehe!!!
Cheers from the USA 👍🏻✌🏻
Cheers EJ
I tried my best but got pipped to the post .. thought I was going to do it at one stage .
I think this video will help a lot of racers running rtr cars.
We hope it is of use to people
@@PopalongRC our local track won't let us run this rb10rtr unless we change motor/esc to a justock system. I just can't see spending more then a 1/8 E buggy to run at our local indoor track that isn't even that nice. So I skipped the indoor carpet this year, wrenched on my outdoor stuff instead. Did you add the brass front bulkhead yet?
Not added it as yet
Just added some balance weights for now..
it’s a shame they are not a little more flexible to help get beginners into the hobby ..
The RB10 was a super star and definitely won man of the match! in my opinion! The dude doing the driving was not bad too haha!
Cheers Mad Bee
@@PopalongRC 👍
A faster servo Carl and that RTR would have been so much faster per lap, but stock it was still very good overall👍 £1200😮 RTR for me 🤣🤣
Tempted by a quicker servo as I have a few in other cars I could switch over
@@PopalongRC considering it's stock I was very surprised 👍
It did alright
It did well
Just stick some weight in the front & a brushless 6-8 turn motor. Then work on the set up.
I’ve seen much older cars consistently getting into the B final and ranking well. But you’ve got to be a good driver!
Forgot to mention we have added weight in the front … currently working on set up and maybe look at motors in future…
I’ve never claimed to be a good driver but I’ll keep trying .
Does the backmounted transmission from the RB10 fit the B6.1D?
We run a classic dirt track locally, but all the new cars are made for fancy astro turf or clay these days.
No idea
Just picked this up! Want to learn dirt control in 2wd and move up to 1/6 buggy. Building the 1/6 slowly but want the rtr to get laps in at the local track
Sounds like a plan
The RB10 is very similar to the g force Genova, which is the same thing as the jegs stinger. We’ve got the stinger and I can tell you this platform is great
We are enjoying the car and if there was a class of RB10’s running together it could make a great beginner class.
Why does Tomley dwarf Kevin? Is he 5ft5 😄
Tomley is 7ft
@@PopalongRC haha, wow
I race a rb10 with b6 shocks and a ceramic bearing kit, love the car
I think a shock upgrade would be a good option … did you upgrade servo and motor or keep them stock
Great video. I have an RB10 as well, but not even run it yet. Top tips there, purchased all kinds of Schumacher tyres for it. If you can advise on any good events I can attend that would be good, I'm based in Herts. Going to the RC Kicks event on 23rd April as well.
Stotfold is a good option for the summer if outdoors is your thing . DMS is in Watford not been there as yet … another outdoor track in Hemel
A new car has alot of bind. It takes a couple batteries to help it all bed in. The springs also will get Softer or sit lower after a couple more packs. Remove front drop to stop weight transfer
Thanks for the advice
I like your rc car! 👍😎
I'm sure you will do much better next time out.
Cheers Stephen
That's rollcenter adjustment on the inner ballstud . Also the rear hub spacer place the rear hub rearward and that will free the car up
Cheers James
You doing the RHR Classic rear motor race? This car would qualify for post '99. Booking in opens this Friday. Rear motor rocks 🤘
We will take a look
Hi do you know what voltage these esc cut s out please
Will see you guys at MKGP then!
Be sure to Popalong and say hi
Good setup tips for the rb10
Cheers Bryan
Mate did you charge at 8amp for racing you need charge at high current s and peak at 9amp just before
What's the lowest turn motor you could upgrade to with the stock speed control?
3900kv on 2s
3300kv on 3s
www.competitionx.com/recent-posts/brushless-motor-chart-turns-vs-kv-rating/
@@PopalongRC isn't 3900 slower than what it comes with?

Hi does gyro cause problems if so can it be turned off an how please
Hi what pinion size did u use
Think I’m currently running 24
So who was Kevin’s “ secret” pitman? Anyone know? Was it mick?
It’s a secret
I still can’t find that 70’s big kid channel
Hahahaha
Be great if you could do a video on set up and what affect different things have like cambelt toe in toe out etc 😊 as a no novice be great help
I will see what we can do.
It will get around the track for sure but will struggling to stay with the fast guys when the driver improves. Then your pouring money into a buggy that will never be competitive. Now if everyone was running the same car it would be a different story. Its like buying a traxxas slash truck and trying to race against a SC6.2. I seen guys pour tons of money into a slash and the end of the day its still a turd
What’s a better option?
@@chrislang7460 I bought a team associated ready to run Pro 4. Seems pretty good for the money, the controller's wonky. I just use Spektrum transmitters. I couldn't compete anyway RTRs are good enough for me
Not a bad car to be fair
Well that's just because Traxxas makes crap. The slash is a turd period.
@@chrislang7460 Depends on your budget new or used. But If you intend to race get a race buggy, truck ect.
Check you inner Ballstuds it should have at least one or two washer for every 1mm it has the more grip on dirt so take all the washers or spacers under the ballstuds on the rear and add 1mm on the inner ballstud up front to gain front end grip also you can add antisquat to keep the rear flatter under power or take rear toe in out it should be 3 degrees rear toe in stock 1mm antisquat stock the setup sheet will tell you if you need more info let me know I run buggy on dirt so you need about the opposite of what we try to do to gain more grip
Great advice James
Thanks for the tops
@@PopalongRC no problem good content I'm in America I watch all your videos keep it up
Cheers James
I would upgrade the suspension
It would have been easy …. But don’t want to throw money at the car just yet.
I've spent 20k nzd in a year learning the hobby as fast as I can
That is some serious investment…
Dude it was built by someone in a factory, with efficiency, not by you with care.
Rtr is sad, rtr is for pesants.
😄 cheers!
There are some great RTR cars out there for people on a budget and they will need some TLC and maintenance..
Nothing like building a kit from scratch though
glue the side walls
Cheers Nick
You can smoke them next time just race dirty. Rubbing is racing brother
Just kidding 😂
Going to the track and experiencing what it is like, I believe it all has to do with the ability to control the car and how you set it up. I think you could take a WLtoys 104002 and maybe not a sponsored Associated driver with years of experience, but you could beat most novice drivers that have the most expensive cars at the track. Just my two cents.
