      Hey buddy, a new tutorial for grading, upscaling and noise reduction is coming out this week. It does however require purchasing the noise plugin and the Mavic noise profiles. The tutorial doesnt go into the parameter adjustments but rather shows loading an easy to use noise profile. The noise profile is designed for the Mavic, so it does all the work for you already :)

      Keaton Ditchfield Hi Keaton, thank you for watching even though you dont have a Mavic. Do you have a drone of some sort? Or camera gear you film with?

    • @keatonditchfield8437
      @keatonditchfield8437 7 лет назад +1

      ProCinematicFX I don't have a drone but I do have 2 gopros and a DSLR. I'm selling my DSLR to buy a sony camcorder.
      I'm using your tips as we speak on my next RUclips video.
      The channel is called "Its Tipp Topp Fishing"

    • @shawn3d
      @shawn3d  7 лет назад

      Keaton Ditchfield excellent. Which song are you looking at? My suggestion is the Sony A6500 or the Panasonic gh5. They are amazing to film on 😎

    • @keatonditchfield8437
      @keatonditchfield8437 7 лет назад +1

      ProCinematicFX I'm buying the Sony AX53.
      I'm always on the move and outdoors in all kinds of situations.
      I like it's BOSS stabalisation.
      the 4k capability even though I shoot in 2.7k
      The options of high frame rates in 1080 for slow mos
      night shot mode (inferred) for when lights would attract unwanted attention
      the Mic in and out.
      and the Zeis optics
      I know it's not pro grade but it makes up for it on it's other specs.
      I hope it doesn't break because fixing it in SA will be a tough one.

    So. before messing with colors, I should throw RAW files into Neat Video first then Premier?
    you should make another video for noise reduction.

    • @shawn3d
      @shawn3d  7 лет назад +1

      Chris Singshinsuk thanks for your feedback on the tutorial. I will do more to help people such as yourself. As for the noise reduction. You apply the noise reduction in the editing software of your choice and then followed by the grading with the LUTs. So it's all done in one program. So what I meant by raw is I meant the ungraded footage. So add the noise reduction first and then proceed to the next steps of grading. I hope I am making myself clear? 👌😎

      Hi Ian, yes for the most part I would stick with these settings. Only time I suggest going 0 sharpness is when the lighting is good and you filming at iso 100. Another factor to film at 0 sharpness is if you aren't familiar with noise reduction with the optimal lighting and camera settings. Does this make sense?

    • @SimonBraeck

      I've realized that I need to get some ND-filters for my Mavic in order to shoot with a correct shutter speed. I'm really fond of those drone shots of sunsets/sunrises. What's your thoughts on exposing an image directly towards the sun? Anything specific to keep in mind? The last shot in your "Epic Cinematic Footage that rivals Inspire X5..."-film is soooo sweet! Btw, would also like a tutorial on how you reduce noise in post :)

    • @RWinterFox
      @RWinterFox 7 лет назад +1

      Braeckster directly towards the sun isn't ideal as it can damage the sensor, but with filters it can reduce or eliminate that risk so as you've asked I'd say depending on the result you're after go with ND16 minimum but most likely a minimum of ND32 or above.

    • @SimonBraeck
      @SimonBraeck 7 лет назад +1

      Thanks!

    • @shawn3d
      @shawn3d  7 лет назад

      Good points Ryan, Yes ND filters are definitely useful for bright light.
      Im comfortable work with footage without filters as grade is first priority, then filters to help with slowing down the shutter. :)
      Sensor damage is possible. Have you ever seen what sensor damage looks like when filming into the sun? This will be interesting to find out...

    Amazing tutorial, great work. Question though, probs a stupid one - but is there any point in masking around the objects that overlay across the skyline for example the buildings, because the objects move position as the video goes on anyways? I guess you just use tracking for the Mask right?

    • @shawn3d
      @shawn3d  7 лет назад

      Thanks for the feedback and yes you are correct. I didnt include the part where the mask was keyframed to match the movement. I guess people can google "animating masks in premiere" its very simple but you are right and the second person to ask this. It was a mistake to not include it in the tutorial. :)

      Yes, it is very magical period.
      No, It's a lot of light during a day (sun is very high) and night is like a not deep twilight. sun goes out of sight at 10.30 pm and sunrise is about at 3.30 am. So You can see bright sky all the night

      A tutorial for grading, upscaling and noise reduction is coming out this week. It does however require purchasing the noise plugin and the Mavic noise profiles. The tutorial doesnt go into the parameter adjustments but rather shows loading an easy to use noise profile. The noise profile is designed for the Mavic, so it does all the work for you already :)

      That camera is excellent and would highly recommend it. Great value for the quality. It can be used in proper production. Also consider the panasonic gh5. All this editing is great and it's an art.
    BUT
    It would be nice to be able to use this editing software to make the picture look like it originally looked with the human eye..
    Probably no camera on Earth can do that with just taking a picture..
    But wouldn't that be a better goal?

    • @shawn3d
      @shawn3d  6 лет назад +1

      muzikmon2267 yeah there is a natural realistic option available which is actually brilliant. It’s called the pure pack. This question is great and is a subjective thing, however have you seen a movie without a treated look? Every movie has a color style that the directors implement. Even Kodak modifies their film to be more saturated as they believed that it always made films more memorable. As long as it’s tastefully done them you’re good to have a long lasting look to your films :)

    • @muzikmon2267
      @muzikmon2267 6 лет назад +1

      ProCinematicFX
      Very true but sometimes it would be really nice to be able to see what something looked like in a beautiful scenery the way it was intended to look and the hardware be able to capture it..
      Believe me I know nobody wants to see the same old colors of real life... That's why on their televisions they almost always pick the oversaturated Vivid mode that looks nothing like real life they just want to be entertained. And whatever colors entertain them is the right colors.
      ;)

    • @shawn3d
      @shawn3d  6 лет назад

      muzikmon2267 yes for sure. I totally get what you are saying. Part of the experience is the focal length of what the eyes see as well as the colors as you pointed out. Agreed sometimes it’s almost impossible to replicate some scenarios. I’m saying this there are often times where one can. Just take a little work. Naturally it’s always better to experience in person :)

      +GirlTheftAuto thank you. Yes I have done full edits in after effects before and in my opinion unless you're doing motion graphics and vfx type work it's far better to do the edit in premiere. You will get your head around it and will see the workflow is far better for this type of thing

    • @svbliminaldubs
      @svbliminaldubs 7 лет назад +1

      ProCinematicFX Yes actually for the edit part (not vfx etc) I use Sony Vegas but it's not the best, kinda limited, so I always told myself I should go on Premiere Pro, you reminded me that so thanks :D

    • @shawn3d
      @shawn3d  5 лет назад

      Trini Weekes Thanks so much for the feedback. You certainly can do this in Davinci by following these steps. I can’t recall exactly which LUT was used however the first question to ask is which drone are you using? SpectrumGrades has dedicated packs for the Mavic 1 series and a set for the Mavic 2 Pro. I use the Cine Collection packs which has everything you need. There are Cine Collection packs V2 and M2 for the Mavic 1 and 2. Just make sure you get the right pack :)

    • @shawn3d
      @shawn3d  7 лет назад +1

      Jason Harrison yes use 25p as you are probably playing your videos in RUclips and social media. Only if you broadcasting is it necessary. Even if you do film in 25p/pal there are ways to output/conform to ntsc for broadcast. Stick with 25p 👌

      Thanks for following, much appreciated. This is a good question and I totally forgot to track it. So yes it needs to be tracked if its intersecting with anything. If you shoot with a clear horizon, you then dont need to track the mask. Well spotted. Do you know how to track?

    • @tubeselder
      @tubeselder 7 лет назад +1
