I think I speak for most people here in the comments section when I say, please compare your older M3P to this new one. Stereo, 0 to 60, braking, etc. You could even do a several part series.
A heat pump system needs a much higher capacity AC compressor than a simple traditional AC system, due to the much higher capacity they don't need to over clock it for the same amount of cooling you got from the overclocked compressor in the old cars.
That's crazy how much they changed the car without making a significant exterior/interior difference. They just listened to what people were saying! I wish more brands could do that on a regular basis.
They are constantly changing their car. That is why there is no official model year. Someone makes a good suggestion and they implement it. Pisses off previous owners, but I think it's the correct thing to do.

@@JustMeTalking Good point. He’s done that as well on the Model X Plaid lately too. With 4 adults and a big dog, saying it has a softer launch than the Model S Plaid.

Plus when you press both pedals it doesn’t do anything but limit power because it has no brake boosting. Just smash the pedal and that’s how you launch.
I test drove a 2022 Model 3 performance and I was shocked how smooth it was as well, even at low speeds and especially with 20” wheels

I’ve owned my model 3 performance for 3.5 years and 45K flawless miles. Excellent build quality, zero maintenance, and outrageous performance (former M3, Porsche, Mustang owner). I can attest this is the car you will not only love, but you will get greater value with every over the air update over time. I’m also an FSD beta user and there too the car becomes more capable and safer over time.
And you couldn’t find one thing that good be better about your car fanboy?
@@Vonliten yes. I could ask that the FSD continue toward continued excellence and intervention free driving. Other than that honestly I couldn’t ask for anything more. It’s beyond fast enough and handles incredible in all conditions. Perhaps lighter with future battery advances so that we don’t shred tires every 40K. Also more range. One can never have too much range.
Still dealing with phantom braking in auto pilot?
@@drdave3676 Eh, Kyle did took it out on a range test after charging to 100%. At 70mph, with no head winds, with the fan speed at 2 and on auto, it did 280 miles of range after running it all the way down to 0%.
I guess that's alright. It would be nice if it could get up to the high 300s.
My biggest problem with my 2020 is the ride quality. The mountain pass performance comfort coilovers fixed it and made the car better in every way. Glad that they addressed it.

The new 3 is even way better then the one from 2018 or 2020, feels smoother and better balanced as well as better built
It makes me happy to know the ride has improved for 2022. I ordered an M3P and it's due in a few weeks. I have heard of complaints on the ride. So glad Tesla listened and made improvements.
They improved the ride, by not lowering the performance models anymore. Same ride height for all model 3’s now.
how many weeks did it take for delivery? I am seeing a M3P currently shows Jun-Aug....I would love to order one today and get it in a couple weeks in June!
@@LulaPlays I have not received it yet. The OD was 4/24/2022. My original EDD was June 8, but it changed a few days ago to June 14, and still no VIN. It will probably move again. I live in SOCAL, so I think deliveries are different in each state. Some people get the VIN 3 weeks before delivery. In SOCAL, you get the VIN with delivery in a few days. If you order now, you might not get it until Aug, at the latest.

Glad to see Tesla’s build quality is improving! I remember seeing some of the old model S’s and X’s and they were pretty atrocious. All reviews and newer ‘21-22 models I’ve seen have looked great to me! Will be interesting to see how well they maintain their lead in the coming years. But as for now, just glad to see they’re improving

That's what the giga-castings do. Less welding means better panel alignment. Wonder how long people will keep arguing that the build quality is trash. Saw the same thing with the Japanese cars. For a while after the Japanese surpassed the American cars, people still kept calling them junk.
I drove a performance a few years ago and it handled great. Drove a brand new rear wheel drive model 3 a few days ago and its handling was a disappointment. Like y'all are saying it's WAY WAY too soft wtf. I almost crashed from all that body roll going over a high speed "dragons back" section of freeway on a turn that had rolling bump hills.
I have test drove a 22 tesla model 3 performance, Blue with uberturbines, It was amazingly smooth over bumps and quiet even when it was raining as i drove it around on the highway

They took the lowered suspension indicator off the website months ago when showing differences in the Performance. It's probably now the same suspension as in the other Model 3 trims.
My daily is a 2022 Performance but I also drove the 2022 Long Range and Standard. While its not lower the suspension of the Performance is much stiffer. Its not just the wheels, it also leans less in corners and settles more quickly after bumps.
Would love to see you get your hands on a 2022 Model 3 RWD. It would be great to see your take on the trade offs moving to the LFP battery and less powerful motor.

@@TheStopwatchGod it’s all of the Fremont-made base/RWD cars for 2022 (formerly SR+) that have LFP. There were some 2021 Fremont SR+ cars that had LFP battery and the more powerful motor too.
glad to see that they made if soft. For someone that ordered M3P. I test drove the stardard and felt that it was stiff. Stiff as other performance cars. I was really concerned that the Performance would be stiffer than that. For someone that daily drive to work, i dont need the car to be stiff. Its not a track car.
Thanks for the review, I heard you speak of the suspension being “softer” than prior performance. My question is there was a Time in early 2022 that the website dropped the “lowered” claim. Do you think that’s what they made it softer ? I almost want to drive a 2019 just to see. I have a 2021 and it seems low and aggressive. Just curious ..
Because of you I ordered a set of 4 silver MW03 Martian wheels in 18 inch size a couple of months ago. I did not see any affiliate links, so hopefully I did not miss that. I am still waiting for them to arrive as they seem to have a 3 to 4 month wait for the rims. I'll let you know how they work out once they arrive, but I have high hopes they will improve the ride. The other reason I ordered a new tire size is to hopefully be able to have a tire replaced on long road trips if for some reason one suddenly fails. I had to wait 3 days once to get one of the OEM 20-inch tires when a nail sidewall puncture took out one of my nearly new tires (2-months old). There I was stuck for 3 days waiting for a replacement tire. Hopefully that will never happen again now with 18-inch tires.
the older ones felt like go-carts, this is more relaxed as compared to those.

I have a 2022 Model 3 Performance and it was build in Shanghai. Qualitywise it was quite a step compared to my 2021 Model 3 Long Range from Fremont. Better sound insulation, no panel gaps, better weldings and paint finish. The new Gigafactories show what Tesla can deliver compared to the old shack they bought from GM in Fremont. You americans will see this when the cars from Texas Austin will spread, you really dont want to go back to the Fremont cars.
Mine is better in every way like the sound insulation, no noise, and no panel gaps etc. I just checked and it is from fremont. I think Fremont has improved as well.
Fremont had giga castings installed too. So, the build quality got better. Not sure what they did with the paint shop. When Sandy Munroe was interviewing Musk, he mentioned the paint shop was outdated but back then they couldn't do much about it because they couldn't shut down the factory for upgrades.

I wonder when they made it softer? My M3P is March 2021 delivered. I don't think it's really soft, but I'm coming from KWv2's in my last car, LOL. In spirited driving, I think more downforce would help more than firmer suspension.
I'm also with you on the wheels and tires; Not a big fan of the stretched. I'm at 13k miles and will need new tires soon. Deciding what to do:
1. OEM Tires
2. Switch from 235 to 245mm tires, all else the same, to reduce stretch
3. Get 19" Wheels and 255mm tires for more performance, sidewall, and lower cost tires.

I'm planning to upsize the stock 235/35r20 Pirellis to a 255/35r20 Michelin PS4S for a little more sidewall white retaining the OEM wheels. With a 1/2-inch increase on tire diameter and width, I'm expecting a 50km (30-mile) range loss. Do you think it would be more?
I picked up MPP Comfort Coilvers. What are some of the other products they have that you think I should get? I just want a solid platform and want to do all the upgrades at once, but not sure what I need. Thanks!

I have a 2022 Model 3 Performance but mine was one of the first ones made. Mine was produced on 11/02/2021 so it doesn’t have the new 12v battery. However, I still have the lowered and stiffer suspension. Tesla only rates the 2022 Model 3 Performance as having 430 HP instead of the old 480 HP. However, it still gets the 0-60 mph in 3.1 seconds and 11.50 1/4 mile. Not sure what has changed there but they definitely changed the rating.
same here dec 4 delivery for me, there model 3 has ryzen, LR suspension and heated wipers. i thought the rear window was now double panned too
Very interesting - my 22 Model 3 P just arrived 2 weeks ago, and I thought it looked like it has more wheel gap then I remembered (drove a 2019 P) and I remember the ride being a little rough in the 19 too! Also interesting on the power ratings
Where did you see the HP numbers? I see 450 for the last 3 years including the 22 model. Can’t find 430 anywhere
@@andrewrae50 a video will come out in the next few days that explains it all. Remember power figures for electric cars are typically posted in KW not HP but you can convert the figures easily.

I have a late 2021 model y performance and I sold my pirelli tires and replaced them with michelin all season pilot 4's with 295/35/21 in the back and 275/35/21 in the front and I love the ride quality and durability a lot more
I put 18 inch wheels with 4s tires. For me it transforms the car into the most comfortable best daily. It is seriously good comparing to the best from Germany as a daily

I would also want to know what wheels you have installed?
There are lots of options! I chose Apex VS-5RS in brushed clear. Its a fully forged 18*9.5 wheel. It’s expensive but there are lots of way more cost efficient options. 18*9 direct fit flow formed wheel can be had for $200 a wheel and 245 or 255 square tire setup is great on this car. I went 265/40/18 and I absolutely love it! Hope this helps!

is there a big difference in the sound system compared to your 18 M3P?
I actually prefer the softer suspension, I bought my M3P and replaced two ICE performance cars with it (Golf R and Camaro SS 1LE). Both of those cars had adaptive suspension (which would’ve been nice to see on the M3P)but in lieu of that I’d prefer a softer suspension setup over a more aggressive setup, especially since I typically had my adaptive suspension cars in comfort mode 90% of the time.
How is the M3P vs the R and SS 1LE from a driving dynamics, steering and handling feel. Which one did you enjoy the most hucking around bends. I'm considering all 3 but the Camaros visibility bothers me.

Maybe that's not just double pane windows that improve noise isolation.
My December 2020 Model 3 wasn't that much different from my Feb 2019 Model 3 without double windows.
In my opinion, in my Model 3s, most noise was coming from wheels, wheel arches.
Heat pumps are very inefficient on very cold days for heat, I was wondering how much this affects range in the winter.
I went with a 21 model 3 performance last June. I too noticed the difference in ride quality compared to my 2018 mid range model 3. Night and day. I was going to hold out for a 21 LR model 3 until I test drove the performance and I was sold. The double paned glass makes a huge difference. The only complaint I have about the car is the same one I had on my previous model 3. Tesla needs an option to have a head up display or some instrument cluster in front of the steering wheel. The single screen has gotten boring to me.
Well other complaints would include build quality, lack of customization, an iPad stuck to some wood for the interior.
I agree, a heads-up display is about the only thing I would add. The guy below talking about an iPad stuck to some wood is a fossil.
@@quentyns not a fossil. The MME and R1T are actually styled with a screen in front of the driver. The Y and 3 are merely screened stuck on the dashboard.
There are rumors that it might get a Model S/X style instrument panel. Hope it's true. My wife likes the Model Y but won't get it without it.

Drew chose to buy another M3P rather than a MS. And Kyle thought the MS was too long. I take it that both of you think the M3P is a better car than the MS overall. True? I ask because I'm trying to decide which one to get next.
Think of the MS as the electric equivalent of a muscle car. Superfast in a straight line, a bit clunky on the curves. The M3P is equivalent to a track car, not quite as fast in a straight line, but it handles like a dream in the curves...think BMW M3 or a Porsche Cayman. I own a 2022 M3P and a Porsche Panamera. You put coilovers on an M3P (I am installing UP coilovers this week, swaybars, control arms, etc, and you have a legitimately fast track car that can compete with the best of them. The only other think you need to add is bigger brakes.
@@quentyns I don't want to do the track. I don't think I'd like driving a car that's too big. I'd probably regret not having bought another M3P.

urgh, I've just ordered another M3P over the MYP as the ride in the Y was unacceptable. Does this mean newer Ys have improved (better damped) suspension? I can understand why Tesla are quiet abut these changes but wish they'd come clean

Compressor overclock is now always on during track mode. You can hear it starting right away!
I personally love the cheaper quality steering wheel. They don’t get shiny as they age!

I’m confused what were mentioning and comparing here. My 2021 sr+ has pretty much all these features. Same with the windows same with the interior same with the headlights. You say it like it’s only for the 2022 performance model
If people really want a softer Tesla, should use adaptive suspension for performance model. Soft suspension is fine for long range non performance.
Any recommendations or is MPP the only way to go?

Somebody had done a review of the 3rd party suspension kits and said it didn't change things much.
Yep agree, worth swapping out front and rear motors for higher performance models, seats and interior cabin parts can be exchanged for alternative including HUD, manual switches, led lighting. Would also recommend a full body panel swap out. Have heard Audi panels will fit with minor alteration and some welding. An argument could be made for new wiring loom, HVAC, carpets, wipers and glass. Battery's pretty good and worth keeping
Some RUclipsrs have tried the third party suspensions and said that they did not give much benefit. What I've found that works is to get 18" custom wheels for a Model 3P, or 19" custom wheels for a Model YP, and put high profile tires on them. Tires should be low rolling resistance.
Sounds like you’d like a BMW like adaptive suspension.

Are the motors the same?
I have a new m3 lr. It has terrible wind noise coming front the driver window along with other issues. The wind noise is the worst because I brought it in twice and they haven't properly fixed it. All the issues have taken away from the enjoyment of owning a tesla.

Is Tesla still limiting the performance over 60 miles with a lot state of charge? Bjørn Nyland made a view some time ago where he troubleshooted this problem. Apparently the Long Range has more performance under these circumstances.

On my 2021 Model 3 Performance, Brake Boosting makes it launch slower. Best launch IMHO is to just let it hold itself, no feet on petals, then just hammer it. But yeah, you were at 38%, also.

Why do you want to alter a perfectly good car? I can also understand putting on a film to protect the paint, but it’s completely covered obscuring the paint.

What is the real mileage of M3P driving at 65-70 mph? any estimate
About 280-290Kwh per mile at 70-75mph about 300-310kwh per mile.
At 30-40mph about 250kwh per mile - all on my 2021 model.
Divide these numbers in a 82kwh battery
A simpler answer to your question:
I have the 2022 model (2weeks old)
Charged to 85%, 2 people in the car, AC on level 3, 75-80mph at 210miles
With rubber bands on the wheels and as soft as it is; what will it be like with some sidewall? Should the have active dampers at that price?
I hate to nit-pick but you REALLY need to buy some mics because the audio is really bad.
More than once you have stated you think the M3 And MY steering ratio is too fast for most drivers. That is absolutely not true. The quick steering has saved me multiple times from a serious accident.
I'm very curious about the cost of this wrap? Something tells me that a better wheel/tire combination would greatly reduce/eliminate much of that "road" noise? Maybe its just yet, the noise seems to be the external sounds I'm hearing here? It's my opinion that, based upon this car/model the folks @ Tesla did make a effort to produce a proper body to panel fitment. I also hope this is just how they are paying attention to those details from now on! Otherwise, the competition will!

The new wheels look much better than the old ones. Not sure what you are seeing. The new wheels are actually so good-looking that people would actually purchase them aftermarket, not something you can say about most stock wheels.
I didn’t like them one bit when they first came out, but I really like them a lot now. I guess they were such a departure from the old wheels which I really liked that they kind of shocked me at first.
Can you get wheel/tire insurance?
