    Gotta explore Japanese pants/trousers. My pants are undoubtedly the most distinguishing part of my personal style. I'm always wearing high waisted pleated trousers, whether I'm going to the store, at a business meeting, or hitting up my local skatepark.

    tbh, as far as essential hoodies go, brands aside and a clear bias here, since I'm portuguese myself, if you see the hoodie is made in Portugal, especially heavyweight hoodies, they're more than likely the best quality materials and craftmanship in the market in the west. If I'm not mistaken, Keezy made a video mentioning Rue Porter blanks, which is pretty much the standard for quality.
    If you can't afford japanese ones since it's out of your price range, take a look on brands who work with portuguese factories or just try to research how to buy them wholesale and make your own custom hoodies, if you want to go down that route.

    • @120nsb
      @120nsb 7 месяцев назад

      @@KidCracken Yeah, I know Turkey makes some good shit too, that's why I said it was a biased comment. I will say tho, for example, if you compare the shit Allsaints used to make, which was made in Turkey, with the quality now made in Portugal, it's like night and day tbh.

      @@120nsb yeah the best quality I have is also made in Portugal. But for the price.. My 032c is almost the same quality as my Vetements, but only cost 25% of what the Vetements cost.

    I have never heard of "cardboard knit"--interesting. In the video it looks kinda neoprene-esque. One point to consider is that many Japanese people hang their clothes to dry--they don't put them in the dryer. That "cardboard knit" looks like it would dry very quickly on the hanger as well as keep its shape when wet.

    Cardboard knit looks like a blank Huni, SLP and Balenciaga (and probably other) have made waffle knit hoodies and god damn near every brand that wishes to be hype have made reverse stitched.
    I haven't had a ton of jp hoodies in hand, but stuff like wtaps and cav empt is the same quality as tons of western high end brands..
    Don't get me wrong, I love tons of jp stuff, I just can't agree that jp hoodies are "better".. Some are just different.

    • @THECASUALco
      @THECASUALco  7 месяцев назад +2

      I think you misunderstand. These things are standardized in Japan.
      For years I’ve been trying to explain that BRANDS are the culprit of not being able to discover new stuff.
      Ships, Urban Research, Journal Standard, Nano Universe, Public Tokyo, Ato, United Tokyo, Seveskig, Iroquois, Ouret, Glamb, Trove, I could go on BUT
      These labels aren’t ones to be hyped or anything like that. It’s simply there. It’s not a special release. It’s part of the general lineup. The S’yte hoodies are every damn year and I can’t give you the number of cardboard knit regular hoodies from brands. Hell Uniqlo even makes one.
      Waffle kit is not part of some limited collection. It’s just another option for many brands. And this is the biggest difference between East and west.
      For instance the Huni hoodie is over designed for someone who wants a normal hoodie and (as mentioned in the video) Japan may not be the best but Japan does have a way of maintaining the integrity of a piece without resorting to trying to be “unique”.
      In the west quite often the change up of a fabric is supposed to be a unique spin on something. Here in Japan it’s not. It’s just another standard.
      I don’t pretend to know everything but I feel that a lot of westerners look at Japanese brands the same way they view western brands. In that each brand is advertising it’s brand heavily. Logo here, vastly different design there.
      They simply don’t operate the same. And when you approach Japanese fashion on a brand by brand basis you miss out on a ton. For instance you mention Cav and WTAPS.
      These brands are legacy street brands that focus primarily on graphic and/or stylized pieces. What if you don’t want that? And that is what Japan does exceptionally well. You DON’T need those brands and to be quite honest you don’t see those brands on the street heavy like that.
      It’s what honestly holds a ton of western fashion/style back. The over focus on brands and branding. Something that’s a breath of fresh air in Japan. Where there is largely little focus on that.
      So I don’t mean the “best in world” based on unique design but rather the standardization of what would be deemed “unique” in other places.

    • @THECASUALco
      @THECASUALco  7 месяцев назад +2

      You know what after thinking about the last comment it came off a bit arrogant. I didn’t mean to imply you don’t know much. You made valid points and as I mentioned saying they are the best in the world is a bit of a stretch.

    • @KidCracken
      @KidCracken 7 месяцев назад

      @@THECASUALco well overall your response was very sensible 👍
      Tbh I don't think it's that much of a difference with Japanese brands, I think it's a difference with western customers.
      We're probably way more "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". I like some more special or weird hoodies, but 9 times out of 10 I will grab a regular cotton kangaroo pocket hoodie.
      I don't know for a fact, but I'm guessing bigger western brands use smaller runs of special materials or cuts, not just to make it limited, but to see what sells. And in the end, regular hoodies probable just sell better.
      Oh and I don't really focus that much on brands, but it's what we have to distinguish them from each other.
      Fx I've had a H&M cardboard knit sweatshirt that was absolutely horrible after 1 wash, but just talking trash about cardboard knit because of that one experience would be very dishonest without mentioning that I only know it first hand from one fast fashion brand.
      Same thing when I mention cav empt and wtaps.. It's just being honest. I only judge the quality of jp hoodies based on those 2 brands because it's the only 2 I remember for sure I've had in hand. 🙃

    • @KidCracken
      @KidCracken 7 месяцев назад

      @@THECASUALco oh and I agree with the Huni hoodie being overdesigned.. For my taste.
      But it's also a good example that a ton of small western brands do special stuff.
      This is their hoodie. It's not a limited one-off. It's how they make it. And most colorways seem to sell out, so at least some people like it 🙃

      @THECASUALco  7 месяцев назад

      It’s just a different feel. I know what you may be thinking when it comes to polys. I feel the same way. Cardboard knit is in a different league though. You have to try it. It’s not scratchy, or abrasive at all. Its quite literally the one of the softest materials you might feel on the skin.
