I love this video because of the extent of detail you manage to go into about each hoodie, most other hoodie "ranking" videos are just focused on what the brand has to offer rather than the material usage and pattern making each one is unique for.
I'm not your target demo, like at all, but I love watching your videos because I always feel like I learn something new and you give me something to think about. I wish I could find the equivalent to this for women's fashion but for now, thanks for another quality video.
Thanks so much! I wish I had a better knowledge of women's fashion myself. Would definitely recommend Understitch though, they cover lots of womenswear brands and have great knowledge
Ironically my favorite hoodie (excluding sentimental value ones) is a black 2XL flea market hoodie my mom bought me that shrank into the perfect oversized fit for me. Have it for many years now and still goes strong. Maybe costed 10$ . No bells and whistles just cozy
I have a ton of hoodies that range from $40-$450 and the black amuletware carpenter hoodie I have is by and far my favorite. The $120 range seems to be the sweet spot for me. I just ordered their adjuster and their cropped zip hoodie and I’m excited! That being said, as goofy as I feel for spending the money on it, the Sacai x carhartt hoodie I have is amazing. It feels very premium, but there’s only so much you can add to add value.
The mesh on the cuffs and bottom of the Acronym hoodie looks like Powermesh, which is pretty frequently used in athletic wear and dance clothing. Typically sells for about $10-20 a yard in fashion district fabric stores, especially if you're looking at a special metallic finish (doesn't look like that's the case here though)
S26-PR with its 2 different sized internal pockets underneath the kangaroo flap make it my go to hoodie 🖤 Thanks for showing the J117-HL-EX in more detail 🙏
I just discovered your channel and have been binging the videos. This video is my favorite so far, id lvoe to see more where you compare "premium" features, cheap features, or build quality for comfort/feel. Thanks for making these videos. They're great!
I find it very cool how you turned a genre of video that is typically associated with content slop into something super educational in a highly edited, entertaining package.
Just swooped through the timeline and love the fact that you were able to get a small interview with Mr. E! Always so interesting to hear his reasoning and thought process behind all the stuff.
As someone who sews I would never go for a hood with a wavey seam like that. That to me just screams manufacturing error where they didn't care enough to manage the fabric properly as they were sewing it. Also from the sewing perspective- to make something look expensive, apparently just put the zipper in on a bias lol. A bit of a technical challenge yes, but not too difficult. I'm just starting to realize how much of this I could do. Even sourcing materials doesn't seem too difficult, especially anything soft.
Appreciate your perspective! I guess with a lot of stuff like this, even when it's expensive, it's still being made quickly en masse and there's pressure to get them out quickly.
UNIQLO WHITE MOUNTAIN FLEECE HOODIE! £40 equally is good a fleece as my Patagonia and a Comfy Outdoor Garment one.. I know that Uniqlo is not an amazing cheat code but the White Mountaineering stuff is nice and slept on.
I can definitely speak to the j117 front zip being super nice to block out your surroundings for a peaceful nap. I recently took an overnight trip, and this hoodie was so great putting me in my own space so I could sleep comfortably. It was super cozy but really breathable.
What a brilliant guide to hoodies! Hoodies (and crews) make up a significant proportion of my wardrobe, and mine are all different to one another, but I've never realised (or given it much thought, admittedly) the hows and whys. Thank you 😘
My favourite hoody I’ve ever worn is the John Elliott Villian hoodie. Riri zippers, Pocket inside the hoodie once the zips are open. Great fitting hood and premium materials. In also a fan of a hoodie without a waist band to give a more elongated and bunched up look. Stone Island and FOG essentials have great options
Hoodie-adjacent (I own a bunch of hoodies, but wanted something to wear under a shell without a hood getting in the way); I picked up a teal/blue Patagonia fleece from a vintage shop yesterday (out of my all-black Goth Comfort Zone), the colour suited me well, a perfect XL fit on me, still in really good condition, and all for £45. Today I got a mailer for a new Vollebak fleece - much higher tech materials, probably more hardwearing, I know the XL with fit me nicely - but that is literally over ten times what I paid for the Patagonia. I'm on the fence right now, getting such a good pickup for not a lot has put me off doing the bigger spend 😅
Vintage is a great way to shop - the Vollebak one is probably not going to be 10 times as good! Maybe in future someone will sell theirs though and you can grab a steal 👀
Im dropping a lined full zip and a quarter zip for $80 USD that wear more like a jacket. Im picky on my hoodies so I want other people to have the same feel as I do. So far theyre only in black with my logo embroidered bht more options are coming.
I paid $300 for my enfin leve ehitu hoodie. Premium material, unique stitching allowing for ease of movement, and overall a unique silhouette made it well worth it
The pink on that acne hoodie really suits you! I’m probably not your target demographic but I like tuning into your videos for your practical, no nonsense perspective when it comes to fashion. This video is also motivating me to get up and get dressed, so thanks for that as well haha
I like that you reviewed alot of hoodies style wise, but I would have liked some hoodie review technical & performance wise. You mentioned Houdini, Mission workshop, and MAAP very briefly and there are alot of Polartec's portfolio. The acronym hoodie was nominated for Polartec's Apex Awards and it displayed a ton of uses under Polartec's umbrella. As I am hiking more frequently, I'm looking into more "gorp" brands than fashion-oriented brands. Polartec is seen alot in hiking brands in the sub $300 range, so there is a huge price discrepancy between €832 acronym hoodie and Patagonia's $170 R2 jacket (for instance). Maybe a video idea would be a technical overview of how Polartec/fleece is used, functions of each garment, and how they are compared at different price points?
Thanks for this! Would be a great alternative approach for a topic like this, looking more at what sorts of performance and features hoodies can bring over and above a typical cotton/poly option. There's no doubt with Acronym you're paying a big premium for getting the material in a fashion-forward product and for most people that's probably not 'worth it'
Haven make the best hoodies Ive come across. Especially their strata hoodie with Infinium. Nice fit, super well made, thumb holes, waist adjust, and so on. Even compared to my Acronym hoodies. Like not even a comparison.
Which two out of these (not including the acronym one) would you regard as your personal favorites? Also, have you heard of 'blousing your trousers'? It's the technique used in the military (in the US, anyway) to roll up and fix in place pant legs when wearing boots and gets that sort of distinctive military look. I learned it while briefly in a voluntary military school as a teen, since we had to wear BDUs on the first day of each week, and although I still use it and some boot bands while wearing my Bates boots and even my hightop sneakers I've never actually met a civilian that knew wtf 'blousing your trousers' was. Figured I'd mention it here since it does grant a unique look and because it's sort of obscure military lore that might be of some interest to you if you didn't know about it, given that techwear incorporates many elements that are either originally military or actual surplus/milspec gear. Cargos, boots, MA-1 jackets, etc.
The lack of mention of the new Enfin Levé gurutze textured cotton hoodie is rather surprising, the sleekest and most modern hoodie to come out in recent times.
My favourite hoodie at the moment is the Named Collective: Tectonic Zip Hoodie. The design of it with the different colours paneling, dual zip front, and the overall silhouette just make it so cool. I got mine in blue.
Some of my favourite hoodies so far that I own are from C2H4 and Heliot Emil. Wonder if I should look into getting an Amuletware one since the style is pretty similar, yet the production might have a bit of an edge over the ones I have.
My favorite hoodies are from North Hill. You can get em under 100 bucks on sales, and it’s 100% made in Paris with fabric bought through local stores. Plus, you have a lifetime free reparations, and can get 40 bucks back if you don’t wan’t it after a while (even if it’s used) - made in a Paris atelier - local fabric suppliers - under 100 bucks - lifetime reparations Couldn’t find any better quality/ ethical value for the price so far. (They also sale 1:1 prototype that didn’t make the collection for crazy cheap, and it’s a unique piece)
You could have gotten a polartec high loft wool hoodie from marmot this week for $60. Beringie and Marmot are the only ones carrying the high loft wool currently.
I've actually been looking to get new hoodies with the cold weather coming around, as simple as they may be as a fashion item. Thanks for dropping this video
Those folds on the hood are 100% intended. If you compare it for example to the Balenciaga Tape Hoodie, that also has the exact same folds in there , and that although it's using the different sewing pattern where the stitching only goes up 50% of the hood in the neck to give it stability. If they didn't do that on purpose, then the front of the hood would look all wonky too but they do it to nicely drape the hood when it's down (which it'll be basically always if we're honest). So since that's such a common pattern that we see everywhere I'd be suprised if QC at Acne didn't catch that at a) that price point and b) given how they find the sewing defects on the inside, under the arms etc; cause there you will see that the stitching is absolutely on point, and even more aequidistant as on a lot of other mid-tier sweaters like the Carhartt. Edit: Well now I watched a couple minutes more and realized you came to the same conclusion. Yay!
I would love a problem solving video. Like, you get hot and then cold on hikes - here’s a jacket from final home that unrolls into a house, or something.
I’ve had a few different The North Face hoodies over the years and loved them all, they are comfy, well constructed, and look good if you’re into the branding all at $60-$100. Would recommend!
Is that new Errolson interview footage? Does that mean you will have a new interview with him up soon??? Nice video too guy 😊 My two favourite hoodies are a Guerilla Group Black Programme Alien signal hoodie. Wild patterning with reversed fabric and exposed distressed seems, is reverible and has the best hood in the game. The other is Acronymn S31-px which is not the kind of thing you can wear around the house as its got 150mg of Coreloft gold insulation but is a great repmacement for jacet in Autumn or as a very warm mid layer.
I have never bought a hoodie in my life, I just constantly get given them for christmas and birthday, they are nearly all just printed with something I like that's nerdy, so I recommend that; be nerdy :D
Honestly, I just want to go for something simple. Neutral, not expensive (like, 130 euros for 1 piece is generally the max for me right now). Comfortable materials and an oversized fit (preferably with an oversized hood, but not necessary).
Any fabric recommendations for people that live in places where the only weather is ultra dry/moist heat? I tried the adidas aeroready shorts and holy cow does it make a huge difference. It's paper thin and is honestly cooler than being naked since it wicks up sweat and makes it dry up faster. Kinda want more athleisure/gym clothes like it. Even better if it looks techweary.
The best hoodie I ever owned cost me 50$. It has perfect fit for me. Also the hood itself isn't huge like many hoods nowadays. I have that hoodie for 8 years. Still black color & isn't destroyed.
Cool video! Would have loved to see something loop wheeled in here, say something from Iron Heart or Merz B Schwanen. They're expensive because they're made stupidly with ancient, inefficient machines. But that's what's cool about them!
i got Cole Buxton the same u show in the video and honestly the quality isnt there, i will say Represent has better hoodies, you could also talk a little bout vetements hoodies, as for me id say the weight of them is something remarkable
@@ThisIsAntwon you didn’t talk about sizing, I’m 174cm 68kg, can I get away with buying size M? I own J29-WS, P10-DS, SP29K-M, P30A-DSKR-BKS, P39-PR, all in size M
I usually like buying expensive hoodies bc I wear them all the time and enjoy the higher quality materials but I had when it’s super cropped and can’t lift my arms up without my stomach being out lol
honestly nothing can beat my 65$ champion hoodie. Yeah I have nicer quality ones but they were 120 and 150. the bang for your buck goes to champion for me
Honestly considering their relatively small production runs and the cost of doing stuff like garment dyeing I think they're quite well priced, but totally understand regardless of what it offers it's a lot of money for a single item of clothing
omg I have one, most expensive hoodie I own, bought it out of impulse but god damn it's just perfect. I even wore it snowboarding, it was so warm and cozy didn't need a jacket, just some thermals underneath
Yeah good call, picked up the Therma-FIT 'Tuff Fleece' early autumn for a good discount and it's really heavy duty and snug - getting more wear as the winter rolls around.
good breakdown of the differences. would love to see this done for other stuff like pants, lightshell / heavy jackets, etc.
Great idea
I love how this bloke takes great care dressing, gesturing, articulating but styles his hair as if he's just fallen off his scooter into a hedgerow.
LMAO
Noo you can't do Aldridge like that 😭😭😭
LMFAO

I usually like buying expensive hoodies bc I wear them all the time and enjoy the higher quality materials but I had when it’s super cropped and can’t lift my arms up without my stomach being out lol
That is the downside - no reaching for things on high shelves
would love for you to look into a brand called eyn vas and do a review.
yo ant will you be picking up acw converse geo forma boots?
Amulet hoodies are so good who don't want more pockets man
More pockets = more snacc
Even after all this time you keep improving on your videos, big up!
Outlier Warmform hoodie for the comfy cozy win
big fan of my Acne hoodie, great cut
Agreed!
Good analysis, makes a lot of sense.
honestly nothing can beat my 65$ champion hoodie. Yeah I have nicer quality ones but they were 120 and 150. the bang for your buck goes to champion for me
Champion is always a winner, good choice
I don't wear hoodies often, but I love my friit of the loom hoodie.
A classic for a reason!
Was the video chat with Errolson done just for this video or will it be posted in full later?
There'll be more of it in a future video that I'm still working on!
What's your opinion on the brand Brain Dead?
Gap makes very good basic hoodies
Great Review, best hoodie old style heavyweight "Triple Aught Design" Ranger hoodie.
Thanks! Good suggestion
I really love amulet ware and their unique design. I just wish their stuff was just a bit cheaper.
Honestly considering their relatively small production runs and the cost of doing stuff like garment dyeing I think they're quite well priced, but totally understand regardless of what it offers it's a lot of money for a single item of clothing
It also doesn't help that I'm a broke college student lol. Whenever I have some money to spend I'll definitely pick something up from them.
Always happy to see a new Accretiondisk video in my sub feed. Can't wait for MrBeast to jump on the 1$ Cargo Pants vs 1000$ Cargo pants trend.
Apex x acronym when
Omg it's mokey. Love your movement guides!
Whoever wears the cargo pants the longest wins a Tesla 😤😤😤
My favorite hoodie is asylum hoodie grom small Polish brand Over Dyed
Thanks for the rec!
Really shocked the Nike ACG hoodie did not make it on this list
omg I have one, most expensive hoodie I own, bought it out of impulse but god damn it's just perfect. I even wore it snowboarding, it was so warm and cozy didn't need a jacket, just some thermals underneath
@@xerxes931 yeah man agreed, it’s by far the best hoodie I’ve ever owned!
Yeah good call, picked up the Therma-FIT 'Tuff Fleece' early autumn for a good discount and it's really heavy duty and snug - getting more wear as the winter rolls around.
@@NMN nice !
I actually don't own one but they're super nice - good recommendation
