Oh wow. What a strange feeling. The first time I began listening to this band I was 15 going through terrible depression and anxiety thinking the world has no place for me. Today I am 29 with 2 beautiful kids, a family a career.... Life still gets difficult but it has amazing silver linings...

But "to belong" have a very nice beat, a song to belong, talking about not belonging, hahaha. "made of stone" it's one of the best closered songs i heard. Anyway, Daughter its a happy sad beat, i think. "all that i wanted" and "A holo in the Eath" from 'music from before the storm', it's so nice too.

Even before listening to it I was in tears. I've been waiting for this moment for many years and I haven't realise how much I needed it. The way you guys make music is something special and unique. Nobody does that the way you do. Unfortunately, I'm afraid I'm not going to see any of you playing on live (I'm from Brazil and it's not that cheap leave here to go to a concert out of the country).
Anyways, we missed you, and above all, we needed you. We missed your voices, your way to play the instruments, and we missed your lyrics. I have no doubts this album is gonna be extraordinary.

It feels especially crazier, since I got over my depression and listening to this song makes me feel so proud of myself, since... well, I am reminded of the hardships.
Life is still not composed of caramels and cookies, but at least I am brave enough now to face it and I don't suffer from such a low self-esteem, currently.
I started listening to them in december of 2018 and the first song that I heard of them was Youth, which is why this is my username.

Funnily enough it was also Youth that got me into them. One day I decided to check my Discover Weekly sometime early 2019 after I had ignored it for a while, found a good song, and after a few weeks or months of coming back to it I got curious and wondered what else they had.
I didn't get sucked in immediately or like every song at first, but I enjoyed what I found. That was until something clicked in me and, I don't know how else to say it, but I finally "understood" what made their style of music feel so unique compared to other artists of similar genre. It was then that I truly fell in love. They helped me feel something in the times I didn't wish to feel at all.
(Also I had a brief moment of existential confusion listening to The End as if this wasn't actually the first time I heard this song. The realization that my first introduction to Daughter was actually because I saw the first episode or two of Altered Carbon over a year prior still sticks with me lol.)

The End was great. It makes me feel as if I were travelling to a black hole, but then I become its king and I use it to reset my life.
Love is also another favourite of mine.
What made me fall in love with them is that their songs are vulnerable and help me process my frustration or as you said, existential crisis.
I wish they'd know how important they are for me. It's feels unfair they've unknowingly done so much for this 20 years old, yet I cannot return to them the favour.

Can we all just take a moment to admire the arrangement in this? It is so beautifully done and gives this song so much more depth and emotion. Elena’s voice and lyrics are without question, perfect. But sometimes the music that they follow up with is just as good if not better. For me, this arrangement wins this outright.
I know Daughter probably won't ever read this but.
This song has helped me cope with a lot of problems in my life. Daughter is the most unique band in the world. The rhythm, the melodies, the sound design, and best of all...the lyrics. Elena has the most down to Earth voice I have ever heard. I have listened to thousands of tracks and no one has managed blow my mind the way Daughter makes music. I hope this band never stops making music or it would be a sad day for us fans.

I’ve played this song on repeat ever since I heard it oh my god it feels like being in love in heaven
Way before the pandemic, I used to live in Edinburgh and had some of my happiest days there. I hadn't been back since 2019, but last month while traveling I was supposed to spend a night in London before my flight back left early in the morning. As I was on the train to my hotel this song came on, and it just... crystalized how badly I wanted to go back to Edinburgh, even if just for a couple days. It was like magic for a moment and as I cried to the train, I decided to move everything, and thanks to a well-timed snowstorm, I extended my trip for just enough to visit Edinburgh again. Damn the consequences. Going back was one of the most emotional trips of my life and I wouldn't change a second of it (and you bet I was blasting Daughter while walking through all my old, empty ruins).
I've loved this band since 2012 so it felt so special to have this song be tied to such a special moment in this new chapter (for me and the band lol). I just wanted to write this down, to have some form of written testament that it happened, and that this, like so many other Daughter songs, now holds a special place in my heart and history. Thanks for everything, Daughter
This couldn't have come at a better time, I have loved Daughter or even just Elena since the beginning. My bestfriend who was more like a sister to me took her own life on the 31st and the first gig we ever went to together was Daughter in Bristol, UK. Elena is the female artist I admire more than anyone, I feel identified from the first very awkward interviews, to her life experiences, her lyrics, she is a such a sweet and talented woman. It's weird how this album is going to be more hopeful than usual because recently, I've been needing it. I've loved them for 3 years and even though it's a little amount of time, I've never loved a band so much. Hopefully they can go on tour! I wish everyone here that connects with daughter's music a lovely new year. Everything will be okay :)
