yea i just set my ps4 pro up changed the video to 1080 got the update, updated and noticed it was displayed on 4k so im not getting this problem i hope sony fixes this issue for everyone else
You can already get a Samsung 40" 4K TV for ~$300 USD from BestBuy (cheaper if you have an American Express credit card) so yeah... don't know how much cheaper you expect/hope it to get than that. They're practically giving the things away given the pixel density.

Scorpio was announced first, there were rumours and leaks about the Pro, but nothing solid. The Scorpio announcement was pretty much confirmation that they would work on a system.
+zombieslayer Incorrect. Information on both was leaked at the beginning of this year prior to E3. Phil Spencer had suggested incremental console upgrades well before that. Scorpio wasn't officially announced until June, while the PS4 Pro wasn't officially announced until September. Now, if you wanted to tell this guy that they had clearly planned on releasing this thing for a while, then yes, that'd make sense. They absolutely did. It wasn't a knee jerk response that they put out after hearing about the competition a few months ago. That's stupid.
My pro worked straight off into my panasonic 4k, no fiddling, then it downloaded a new patch for the pro and still worked. Then the TV downloaded an update and it still worked. Nearly had a double heart attack while it all happened but boy, skyrim special edition looks amazing compared to my old samsung 1080p TV.

I’m glad I waited till just a few months ago to get a PS4 pro. I now have a 4K tv and the new models are quieter. Also I’m enjoying getting a lot of games for 10 to 30 dollars a piece. I got horizon for 12 dollars. The last of us for 10 dollars. Days gone for 20. Resident evil 2 for 20 dollars. I love it.

Not a PS4 Pro issue, it's your 1st gen TV fault, I have a 2015 4k Vizo 50 inch TV, had same issue with my Samsung 4k Blu Ray Player, Xbox One S, and PS4 Pro. Getting proper 4k display fixed issues with all devices.
I literally haven't own a PS4 this *entire* time and I've already known plenty of people who haven't had problems with the pro. I'm definitely going for it. Someone has to take these steps into the industry so I'm fine with Sony fumbling a little. I think the reactions have been overkill although I completely understand this PSA. I've got games I need to play.
I bought one 2 days ago. My only problem is that there's no reasonably priced HDTVs with low input lag, at least 60hz and can output 4k games at 5ms or under. The dream is to play fighting games in 4k, with HDR on at 144hz
I came upon this video / channel while searching for a resolution to this black screen dropout on a 2 WEEK OLD setup of a SONY 65" X900E and Playstation4 Pro!!! Yes even today, over 2 years since you posted this video this is STILL HAPPENING ON SONY'S OWN TVs!!!!!!!!! For clarification, I have had the TV up and running since early October with a Mac Mini and Apple TV as my inputs, neither of which are 4K. I've had the PS4Pro in storage fora month or so due to a remodel. Now that the remodel nightmare is over, I was so stoked to pop this thing out and use it as I have not owned a PS since the first iteration when I was 16ish. Originally I had intended to purchase one of Sony's 4K HDR BluRay DVD-I-don't-know-what players but decided on a PS4P because why-the-hell-not! I haven't played a damn PS game since Final Fantasy Tactics ohhhh so long ago!!!! (God I LOVE that game!) I don't even know what happened to my PS when I left home at 17! I know I left the SNES because my younger sister could not LIVE without "Little Man" aka Legend of Zelda - Link To The Past (which I recently found while helping her with her storage stuff. Box and all in PRISTINE condition. I told her I was very proud and she FINALLY gave it back to me). Back on topic, I wanted something primarily to play my BluRay movies that would do a decent job of upscaling. Bummer it doesn't play the 4k HDR BluDVD things but I let that slide since it also apparently offers all this other stuff. When I first plugged it in and tried it... oh WOW! I'm SO GLAD I didn't buy that Apple TV 4K overpriced CRAP I've had sitting in my Cart for a week or so cause thing blows their UI and bundle of services out of the WATER! I was so enamoured with it all I didn't go to sleep until like 6AM and hadn't even played a damn GAME yet!! (Speaking of, I purchased Horizon Zero Dawn after doing very minimal perusing, so that will be my first game). Everything has been great right, played a couple movies (DVD: Criterion Release of David Cronenberg's Dead Ringers and BluRay: Ridley Scott's Legend), they both looked great, and then one day, while using their PS Vue thing, it just started to black out... no reason at all. Hadn't changed anything, hadn't updated anything, NOTHING! Then it went away for a few days but last night, oh lord he done sent an angle to stop me from smashing the damn thing because it was flickering faster than a strobe light in the front window of a smoke shop!! Seriously now, like what the hell is going on with these tech/electronix companies? I feel perhaps they are rushing too much to get stuff out when it's not quite ready maybe? I've been pulling my hair out with the CRAP Apple has been coming out with! I'm long overdue for an upgrade but am literally scared to buy a new MBP! At this point, Hackintoshes are lookin' mighty fine... Sorry for my ranting, but I was just shocked when I looked at the date of this posting and had to get this out. Cheers mate!

If you had trouble getting it to work, you shouldn't be making videos until you learn a little more! The PS4 Pro offers newer technology than the PS4, meaning if you want to take advantage of all the new technology, you need a newer TV. If you had problems, then you probably weren't using the right HDMI cable, many claims on the internet say this does not matter, this is false! There ARE different HDMI cables.

Max what HDMI Splitter are you using ?? My VR box is working fine with my Splitter and I'm using a regular Radio Shack one. On top of that I have my Elgato HD 60 connected to it also
One Man Parade I work at best buy in the home theater department and clients come in all the time with this issue. They say they're console just gives them a black screen with both ps4 and xbone. It's your cables, the clients that come in have cheap "high speed" cables and as soon as we connect it through a premium hdmi from audioquest it works perfectly. If you go with audioquest specifically then use their forest model or higher but any HDMI 2.0 with silver content in the cable will work.
Just going to throw it out there that the default PS4 PRO HDMI is a high speed cable, which I currently use for a full RGB 4k output. My lg screen worked fine but I did have an issue post patch which I resolved by enabling a full color mode on my monitor. I wasn't suffering from black outputs but I wasn't able to select 4k options (they were grayed out). Perhaps settings on your TV might resolve something?

Your setup with the Framemeister allowing the signal to finally get through unrestricted is just a testament that HDCP, and many many other digital protection systems are just the bane of consumers' existence, and do very little to actually protect anything. Why the industry is keeping up with these features is beyond me considering the actual benefits they may get from them.
Odd to throw the Scorpio under the bus at the end. I don't understand the logic of saying your PC will far overpower it. By that logic why even get a PS4? I mean you can play SF5 on PC. I'm sorry to hear you have problems, I have had none with my PS4 Pro and 42" Panasonic Plasma HD TV or with my PSVR and Samsung LED TV. It was probably rushed to market without testing on every make of TV and the requirement to support DRM seems to be a major issue for some even if you just bought it to play games on and not watch Blu rays. A rush to market would explain why developers have poorly optimised games which in some cases run worse and violate Sony's terms for an enhanced version. No game should dip below a consistent VSync locked 1080p30 although I would accept dynamic horizontal resolution if that is required to maintain the framerate. I would have liked a patch for Battlefield 4 to take it from 900p60 to 1080p60 but DICE have focused solely on Battlefield 1.
The problem is that the PS4 Pro only has a HDMI 1.4 connector (which doesn't support any 4K or 4K up-scaling, as well as the HDCP protocalls used for 4K). For 4K and the HDCP protocols to work, you need HDMI 2.0 connection. Sony's is messing around with the protocols to force there HDMI connector to send a 4K video through a port that has a max of 1080P support. This is all information that game developers and TV manufacturers pointed out before the PS4 pro launch.

Okay Max I wanna tell you my side of the story with this TV because this might interest you. I bought this TV for the reasons you did. I couldn't pass up that response time, which btw people is about 13.5 ms , which is is unheard of with many of these TVs. I noticed something though while playing Overwatch on my Xbone : the upscaler wasn't too good (good call on the framemeister btw because this tv does not play nice with older systems) It looked pretty odd also when I played DOOM on it as well. So when I heard about the Xbox One s & it's 4k upscaler I figured "Holy crap! I could use the upscaler on the one s & rectify this situation!" SO when I get my One s & set the resolution to UHD guess what? "No Signal" the black screen in other words. So after I tried everything from different HDMI cables to shutting off certain settings on the tv with no results I turned to the xbox forums to figure out wtf was going on. Along that time I noticed something really weird. I woke up one morning & turned the TV on & switched the settings right after. IT WORKED!.........for a little while until the signal started cutting in & out until it just completely went out. Out of pure curiosity I tried this again & timed it to see how long it could sustain the signal after the tv had been off overnight. I got roughly 12 minutes before the signal started cutting in & out & you know the rest. I spent a couple of months on the xbox forums staying in touch with an ambassador to see what we could figure out. We tried everything from changing color spaces & gamma settings to just turning everything off. We got no where. After awhile I made the choice of picking up a gaming PC. I bought a rx 480 because the GPU it came with was just crap but the interesting thing was the fact that the GPU & my CPU could handle a 4K signal. Hell Windows 10 even listed it as my recommended resolution because I was using my TV as my monitor, which works great btw, This is where I felt like I got some answers because when I tried playing Dishonored @ 4k fullscreen guess what happened? No signal! I was perplexed. I was scared shitless when I turned Virtual Super Resolution on via Radeon settings out of curiosity & my signal cut completely out. I found out after a system restore that it switched my signal to 4k when I did that. This pushed me to enough to talk to Vizio but before that I looked at Rtings & noticed something interesting : There was some talk about the Chroma /Pixal Formats. It said & I shit you not that the 5th port was 4:2:0 & the other ports were were 4:2:2. When talking to Vizio about this all I could get was "we don't know those specifications". That sounded kind of weird to me that they wouldn't know that. Anyways, I had a hunch to try out one of the other ports that run @4k 30hz on my PC & guess what? It worked like a fucking charm. I mean the refresh rate when testing it on Dishonored was abysmal but the 4k signal remained stable. This brought me to the conclusion that there has to be something up with the pixel format. Then you, Max you talked about getting a PS4 Pro & I remember in your Office tour video you mentioned your TV. It was the exact same as mine. Model & all. So here we are lol. What's interesting though about your setup to me is how much power you have carrying that signal & creating that "handshake" you were talking about. I think your setup is actually supporting it with more power or enough to sustain the signal.
well...this totally kills my hopes...i have standard ps4...wanted to celebrate RE2 Remakes release by getting it with a pro...after seeing all this its really discouraging especially that i literally have the same exact model tv...uhd 4ktv vizio D series...this sucks because i went in buying this tv thinking wow well if i ever decide to upgrade my sony console ill be ready to go...and it looks like its about 3 steps backwards after hearing that they cut in or out...so i guess im sticking with my standard ps4 at this point....dont get me wrong ...fighting games...it looks beautiful....as max stated it does have the least lag....but maybe thats what this ones strong suit is....i guess maybe in 4-5 years ill buy a tv that can handle true 4k and by then itll probably be ps5...its just crazy that...the ps4 now feels like a ps3.5 while the pro that is only compatible with im guessing newer 4ktvs is the true ps4...its like wtf did u come out with this then...and then even if i tried to see if it works and it doesnt...i cant just return it because its already an opened/used item...whatever... i played re2 back in the day with its graphics and loved it to talk about it 20 years later...hopefully like its predecessor...this one will literally "survive" off its story and gameplay another 20 years and not just because it looks prettier...thank you for your feedback and max's...but i think thats the nail in the coffin on my decision...especially with my temper lol..u try and spend money for a treat and then u end up with a fuckin headache.....atleast i do know at 1080p the game will still run at 60fps...

I think it's because that TV does not support HDMI 2.0 (or high color gamut).. The PS VR is HDMI 1.4, which some older/cheaper 4k Tvs use. I just checked your TV on Rtings! No wonder why it doesn't work!! it's rating is 2 out of 10 for supported resolutions. True it has the least input lag out of any Tv, but it's also the worst when it comes to different types of resolutions. I think 4k has 3 types but PS4 only supports 2. The 2 you're Tv doesn't use. My friend has an LG and he had a problem but then he just turned on Deep color and it works. Your TV doesn't have any option like that because it doesn't support high color gamut, which is used for HDR and what the newer 4k Tvs use.
Most of the problem came on 4k resolution, but that is only a ''feature''. Most of their focus are on the PSVR because they actually have make faster money with it then the 4k TV right now why because it actually sell their PS Move which some store are out of stock XD

chrichtonsworld First of all, this issue isn't as widespread as it's made out to be. Through my research it seems to only affect some tv's. Most peoples ps4 pros work fine right out of the box. Second of all, $400 dollars for a console that gets just close enough to 4K to barely tell a difference between checker board and native is a pretty damn good deal. Even if you don't have a 4k tv the performance is pretty good for the cost while also maintaining the convenience of a console.

Sony refuses to acknowledge that the problem is stemming from their firmware update. They are trying to pass blame on the TV manufacturers. I wouldn't trust them to fix anything. Their customer service has always been atrocious.
People that aren't having problems aren't complaining....so if you look at all the complaints, it may seem like the Pro has wide spread issues. That's not true. It's running perfectly on my Bravia since day 1. Just wanted to let people know that this isn't a wide spread plague or it would be on every gaming site 24-7. I had a flashing screen on 4 occasions. However, I was also hearing this random erroneous sounding "beep" coming from the PS4 Pro. Not the regular sounding beep, which tends to come on 1s or 3s. This one was strange. I returned it, yesterday. I want another one, as I can see the downgrade in graphics on my regular PS4. I'll wait for a great deal for Black Friday ...

I'm kind of glad I'm not an early adopter of PS4 Pro.. I guess its to be expected that each new console launch or hardware revision is bound to have issues in its infancy.. I hope about mid 2017 these issues will be sorted, then I'll upgrade.. For now I like my original PS4 just fine.
Plasmas typically have zero frames of lag and are often found at 37" and above. I used to have a 50" Panasonic plasma & it was great for action gaming.
Actually i got black screen on my ps4 pro and went to safe mode just to change the HDCP from auto to 1.4 only and I noticed when I quit the game from the 'HDR' it's a lot faster than HDCP auto...
Don't worry sony has a solution, all these issues will be fixed with the release of the ps4 pro pro

My pro worked straight off into my panasonic 4k, no fiddling, then it downloaded a new patch for the pro and still worked. Then the TV downloaded an update and it still worked. Nearly had a double heart attack while it all happened but boy, skyrim special edition looks amazing compared to my old samsung 1080p TV.

I’m glad I waited till just a few months ago to get a PS4 pro. I now have a 4K tv and the new models are quieter. Also I’m enjoying getting a lot of games for 10 to 30 dollars a piece. I got horizon for 12 dollars. The last of us for 10 dollars. Days gone for 20. Resident evil 2 for 20 dollars. I love it.

Not a PS4 Pro issue, it's your 1st gen TV fault, I have a 2015 4k Vizo 50 inch TV, had same issue with my Samsung 4k Blu Ray Player, Xbox One S, and PS4 Pro. Getting proper 4k display fixed issues with all devices.
I literally haven't own a PS4 this *entire* time and I've already known plenty of people who haven't had problems with the pro. I'm definitely going for it. Someone has to take these steps into the industry so I'm fine with Sony fumbling a little. I think the reactions have been overkill although I completely understand this PSA. I've got games I need to play.

I bought one 2 days ago. My only problem is that there's no reasonably priced HDTVs with low input lag, at least 60hz and can output 4k games at 5ms or under. The dream is to play fighting games in 4k, with HDR on at 144hz

I came upon this video / channel while searching for a resolution to this black screen dropout on a 2 WEEK OLD setup of a SONY 65" X900E and Playstation4 Pro!!! Yes even today, over 2 years since you posted this video this is STILL HAPPENING ON SONY'S OWN TVs!!!!!!!!!
For clarification, I have had the TV up and running since early October with a Mac Mini and Apple TV as my inputs, neither of which are 4K. I've had the PS4Pro in storage fora month or so due to a remodel. Now that the remodel nightmare is over, I was so stoked to pop this thing out and use it as I have not owned a PS since the first iteration when I was 16ish. Originally I had intended to purchase one of Sony's 4K HDR BluRay DVD-I-don't-know-what players but decided on a PS4P because why-the-hell-not! I haven't played a damn PS game since Final Fantasy Tactics ohhhh so long ago!!!! (God I LOVE that game!) I don't even know what happened to my PS when I left home at 17! I know I left the SNES because my younger sister could not LIVE without "Little Man" aka Legend of Zelda - Link To The Past (which I recently found while helping her with her storage stuff. Box and all in PRISTINE condition. I told her I was very proud and she FINALLY gave it back to me).
Back on topic, I wanted something primarily to play my BluRay movies that would do a decent job of upscaling. Bummer it doesn't play the 4k HDR BluDVD things but I let that slide since it also apparently offers all this other stuff. When I first plugged it in and tried it... oh WOW! I'm SO GLAD I didn't buy that Apple TV 4K overpriced CRAP I've had sitting in my Cart for a week or so cause thing blows their UI and bundle of services out of the WATER! I was so enamoured with it all I didn't go to sleep until like 6AM and hadn't even played a damn GAME yet!! (Speaking of, I purchased Horizon Zero Dawn after doing very minimal perusing, so that will be my first game). Everything has been great right, played a couple movies (DVD: Criterion Release of David Cronenberg's Dead Ringers and BluRay: Ridley Scott's Legend), they both looked great, and then one day, while using their PS Vue thing, it just started to black out... no reason at all. Hadn't changed anything, hadn't updated anything, NOTHING! Then it went away for a few days but last night, oh lord he done sent an angle to stop me from smashing the damn thing because it was flickering faster than a strobe light in the front window of a smoke shop!!
Seriously now, like what the hell is going on with these tech/electronix companies? I feel perhaps they are rushing too much to get stuff out when it's not quite ready maybe? I've been pulling my hair out with the CRAP Apple has been coming out with! I'm long overdue for an upgrade but am literally scared to buy a new MBP! If you had trouble getting it to work, you shouldn't be making videos until you learn a little more! The PS4 Pro offers newer technology than the PS4, meaning if you want to take advantage of all the new technology, you need a newer TV. If you had problems, then you probably weren't using the right HDMI cable, many claims on the internet say this does not matter, this is false! There ARE different HDMI cables.
I'm so glad mine is working perfectly graphics perfect, perfect framerate I've been having an overall perfect experience with the pro but then again I don't have a 4k tv just a 1080p magnavox

Max what HDMI Splitter are you using ?? My VR box is working fine with my Splitter and I'm using a regular Radio Shack one. On top of that I have my Elgato HD 60 connected to it also
One Man Parade I work at best buy in the home theater department and clients come in all the time with this issue. They say they're console just gives them a black screen with both ps4 and xbone. It's your cables, the clients that come in have cheap "high speed" cables and as soon as we connect it through a premium hdmi from audioquest it works perfectly. If you go with audioquest specifically then use their forest model or higher but any HDMI 2.0 with silver content in the cable will work.
Just going to throw it out there that the default PS4 PRO HDMI is a high speed cable, which I currently use for a full RGB 4k output. My lg screen worked fine but I did have an issue post patch which I resolved by enabling a full color mode on my monitor. I wasn't suffering from black outputs but I wasn't able to select 4k options (they were grayed out).
Perhaps settings on your TV might resolve something?

Your setup with the Framemeister allowing the signal to finally get through unrestricted is just a testament that HDCP, and many many other digital protection systems are just the bane of consumers' existence, and do very little to actually protect anything. Why the industry is keeping up with these features is beyond me considering the actual benefits they may get from them.

actually, ps4 pro is near a gtx 1060 in terms of performance, and you dont need an i7 for 4k, a good i5 is more than enough for it.
Damn that's pretty bad for 4k gaming for stable 30fps... Only a 1070 can handle that, for those over it it's the 1080 and pascal.

I'm sorry to hear you have problems, I have had none with my PS4 Pro and 42" Panasonic Plasma HD TV or with my PSVR and Samsung LED TV. It was probably rushed to market without testing on every make of TV and the requirement to support DRM seems to be a major issue for some even if you just bought it to play games on and not watch Blu rays. A rush to market would explain why developers have poorly optimised games which in some cases run worse and violate Sony's terms for an enhanced version. No game should dip below a consistent VSync locked 1080p30 although I would accept dynamic horizontal resolution if that is required to maintain the framerate. I would have liked a patch for Battlefield 4 to take it from 900p60 to 1080p60 but DICE have focused solely on Battlefield 1.
The problem is that the PS4 Pro only has a HDMI 1.4 connector (which doesn't support any 4K or 4K up-scaling, as well as the HDCP protocalls used for 4K). For 4K and the HDCP protocols to work, you need HDMI 2.0 connection. Sony's is messing around with the protocols to force there HDMI connector to send a 4K video through a port that has a max of 1080P support. This is all information that game developers and TV manufacturers pointed out before the PS4 pro launch.

Okay Max I wanna tell you my side of the story with this TV because this might interest you. I bought this TV for the reasons you did. I couldn't pass up that response time, which btw people is about 13.5 ms , which is is unheard of with many of these TVs. I noticed something though while playing Overwatch on my Xbone : the upscaler wasn't too good (good call on the framemeister btw because this tv does not play nice with older systems) It looked pretty odd also when I played DOOM on it as well. So when I heard about the Xbox One s & it's 4k upscaler I figured "Holy crap! I could use the upscaler on the one s & rectify this situation!" SO when I get my One s & set the resolution to UHD guess what? "No Signal" the black screen in other words.
So after I tried everything from different HDMI cables to shutting off certain settings on the tv with no results I turned to the xbox forums to figure out wtf was going on. Along that time I noticed something really weird. I woke up one morning & turned the TV on & switched the settings right after. IT WORKED!.........for a little while until the signal started cutting in & out until it just completely went out. Out of pure curiosity I tried this again & timed it to see how long it could sustain the signal after the tv had been off overnight. I got roughly 12 minutes before the signal started cutting in & out & you know the rest. I spent a couple of months on the xbox forums staying in touch with an ambassador to see what we could figure out. We tried everything from changing color spaces & gamma settings to just turning everything off. We got no where.
After awhile I made the choice of picking up a gaming PC. I bought a rx 480 because the GPU it came with was just crap but the interesting thing was the fact that the GPU & my CPU could handle a 4K signal. Hell Windows 10 even listed it as my recommended resolution because I was using my TV as my monitor, which works great btw, This is where I felt like I got some answers because when I tried playing Dishonored @ 4k fullscreen guess what happened? No signal! I was perplexed. I was scared shitless when I turned Virtual Super Resolution on via Radeon settings out of curiosity & my signal cut completely out. I found out after a system restore that it switched my signal to 4k when I did that. This pushed me to enough to talk to Vizio but before that I looked at Rtings & noticed something interesting : There was some talk about the Chroma /Pixal Formats. It said & I shit you not that the 5th port was 4:2:0 & the other ports were were 4:2:2. When talking to Vizio about this all I could get was "we don't know those specifications". That sounded kind of weird to me that they wouldn't know that.
Anyways, I had a hunch to try out one of the other ports that run @4k 30hz on my PC & guess what? It worked like a fucking charm. I mean the refresh rate when testing it on Dishonored was abysmal but the 4k signal remained stable. This brought me to the conclusion that there has to be something up with the pixel format. Then you, Max you talked about getting a PS4 Pro & I remember in your Office tour video you mentioned your TV. It was the exact same as mine. Model & all. So here we are lol. What's interesting though about your setup to me is how much power you have carrying that signal & creating that "handshake" you were talking about. I think your setup is actually supporting it with more power or enough to sustain the signal.
well...this totally kills my hopes...i have standard ps4...wanted to celebrate RE2 Remakes release by getting it with a pro...after seeing all this its really discouraging especially that i literally have the same exact model tv...uhd 4ktv vizio D series...this sucks because i went in buying this tv thinking wow well if i ever decide to upgrade my sony console ill be ready to go...and it looks like its about 3 steps backwards after hearing that they cut in or out...so i guess im sticking with my standard ps4 at this point....dont get me wrong ...fighting games...it looks beautiful....as max stated it does have the least lag....but maybe thats what this ones strong suit is....i guess maybe in 4-5 years ill buy a tv that can handle true 4k and by then itll probably be ps5...its just crazy that...the ps4 now feels like a ps3.5 while the pro that is only compatible with im guessing newer 4ktvs is the true ps4...its like wtf did u come out with this then...and then even if i tried to see if it works and it doesnt...i cant just return it because its already an opened/used item...whatever... i played re2 back in the day with its graphics and loved it to talk about it 20 years later...hopefully like its predecessor...this one will literally "survive" off its story and gameplay another 20 years and not just because it looks prettier...thank you for your feedback and max's...but i think thats the nail in the coffin on my decision...especially with my temper lol..u try and spend money for a treat and then u end up with a fuckin headache.....atleast i do know at 1080p the game will still run at 60fps...

I think it's because that TV does not support HDMI 2.0 (or high color gamut).. The PS VR is HDMI 1.4, which some older/cheaper 4k Tvs use. I just checked your TV on Rtings! No wonder why it doesn't work!! it's rating is 2 out of 10 for supported resolutions. True it has the least input lag out of any Tv, but it's also the worst when it comes to different types of resolutions. I think 4k has 3 types but PS4 only supports 2. The 2 you're Tv doesn't use. My friend has an LG and he had a problem but then he just turned on Deep color and it works. Your TV doesn't have any option like that because it doesn't support high color gamut, which is used for HDR and what the newer 4k Tvs use.

chrichtonsworld First of all, this issue isn't as widespread as it's made out to be. Through my research it seems to only affect some tv's. Most peoples ps4 pros work fine right out of the box. Second of all, $400 dollars for a console that gets just close enough to 4K to barely tell a difference between checker board and native is a pretty damn good deal. Even if you don't have a 4k tv the performance is pretty good for the cost while also maintaining the convenience of a console.

Sony refuses to acknowledge that the problem is stemming from their firmware update. They are trying to pass blame on the TV manufacturers. I wouldn't trust them to fix anything. Their customer service has always been atrocious.

People that aren't having problems aren't complaining....so if you look at all the complaints, it may seem like the Pro has wide spread issues. That's not true. It's running perfectly on my Bravia since day 1. Just wanted to let people know that this isn't a wide spread plague or it would be on every gaming site 24-7. That being said, I do hope the problem is solved for the people that have them!

However, I was also hearing this random erroneous sounding "beep" coming from the PS4 Pro. Not the regular sounding beep, which tends to come on 1s or 3s. This one was strange.
I returned it, yesterday.
I want another one, as I can see the downgrade in graphics on my regular PS4. I'll wait for a great deal for Black Friday ...
I'll just stick with PC and Switch (when it comes out)

PS4 Pro: generally too little, definitely too early.

I'm kind of glad I'm not an early adopter of PS4 Pro.. I guess its to be expected that each new console launch or hardware revision is bound to have issues in its infancy.. I hope about mid 2017 these issues will be sorted, then I'll upgrade.. For now I like my original PS4 just fine.
Plasmas typically have zero frames of lag and are often found at 37" and above. I used to have a 50" Panasonic plasma & it was great for action gaming.
I skipped the PS4 pro because all I heard were bad things about it. I got the slim instead and don't regret it. :)
This is why I like to game on PC's now. I just turn on my PC select a game and start playing with excellent graphics.

Actually i got black screen on my ps4 pro and went to safe mode just to change the HDCP from auto to 1.4 only and I noticed when I quit the game from the 'HDR' it's a lot faster than HDCP auto...
Damn, sorry to hear that Max. I just plugged mines in and all was good. Hope they fix this soon for others.
