As an advanced very self aware sigma INFJ, my door slam is a tool in my tool belt and no longer just an instinct. If I delete someone from my life, it’s a well thought out weighed decision. Even proximity is irrelevant now. I can revert fam to acquaintances if need be. It’s like men in black when he says see you later before flashing them, no …… you won’t, and there won’t even be a second thought. Thank you, next, lol.
I am trying to work through a slammed door in a friendship that became really one sided and insensitive but she is willing to try again. Has anyone successfully done this?
You will come back into that person's life as an acquaintance. You might not know it, but they will keep you emotionally walled off. They will not invest in your relationship and will keep their guard up.
@ You are definitely right. Even though I was the one who had put up boundaries and I’d never said I didn’t want to be friends anymore, she was very lukewarm in her efforts to try to repair our relationship. I eventually let go of everything I was holding onto in stressing about that friendship, and as if all the self-help gurus conspired to prove they are right about “making room for new relationships in your life” advice, I no joke had an incredible whirlwind romance less than two weeks later. We will see where it goes, but I’m so happy I let go of a relationship that wasn’t serving me and now I’m exploring a new relationship with someone with real potential who treats me fabulously ☺️
As an advanced INFJ I shut people out very fast. Most people are toxic af.
