Sold the Hero 7 for almost what we got the 10s for too lol. Definitely a good upgrade. Wait for Black Friday again and maybe Costco will have the same deal on the 10s that are still out there
I'm sure either camera will show off your car well. The 10 definitely has better color and quality. As an automotive RUclipsr these are the cameras I use to film car reviews, and I've been enjoying the new Hero 10 for all the cars we film for our channel
I was thinking of getting a 7 but going off how good the image stabiliser is on the 10 it will be better for my videos so think I'll look out for a 10.
Thanks for the terrific review. It is extremely helpful. The 10 has improved dynamic range, voice recording, stabilization, and newer/better features. But the 7 has a better white balance. I’ve watched countless videos comparing versions 7, 8, 9, and 10, and the white balance on 7 is the best by far. With a proper, custom white balance, you should be able to adjust it later. But right out of the camera, the 10 has a noticeable yellow tint. Coming from someone who has never used a GoPro before but does a lot of photography, the GoPro 10 is worth the extra money.
I just ordered me the GoPro 11. I’ve been out of the action camera game for a while now. My last one I had was the 5 so I’m super stoked about what the 11 is about!

I have the GoPro Hero Black 7. What firmware version are you running? HERO7 Black update v1.90. I do not have 1080. I have 4K, 2.7K, 1440, and 960 for video. 1440 has image stabilization and low light but 4K does not. Choice of high resolution or stabile video in low light situations. I do not have SuperView in photo or video. Video I only have Wide as option. Photo I have Linear or Wide as options.
I use a Hero 7 Black as a dash cam since virtually every purpose built dash cam uses the same extremely dated image processor. The Gopro image quality is far superior in every aspect. The only thing they're lacking is the dash cam specific software features like the ability to continuously overwrite video files as the card capacity is reached or any of the auto record features triggered by motion or vehicle disturbance. The Gopro definitely appears to have battery longevity issues as well and after 6-8 months they don't want to charge anymore. It's probably related to the way I'm using them. I have a 1hr commute to and from work so the batteries are constantly getting cycled. Anyway, I just got an offer to get the Hero 10 for $279 and was curious what's changed since the 7. I don't know if it's necessary for my type of usage.

7 is a great camera for sure! Just depends on how much you use them. For us, they are our job. So makes sense to get a new one every few years lol

Not sure what firmware it had. But I would film in 1440 and adjust the crop when saving to 1080. Still have the Hero 10 now and they are pretty solid!

I wouldnt know on the 9 and 11. But the 10 seems similar to the 7
