I have this gorgeous plant bought it this past March I live in the Panhandle here in Fl this plant grows fast and is easy to propagate can’t wait till it blooms. I’m experimenting to see if I can air dry the leaves and if they’ll stay this gorgeous deep red.
Greetings from Orlando. I totally thought you were Caitlin Bennet for a split second 🤣. The cranberry hibiscus and longevity spinach, I love using them as sandwich and burger toppers. It's so much more flavor and vitamins than lettuce
Hey from Orlando! I have know idea who that is...🤣. Thanks for the comment and my plants are recovering well from the hurricane, so will throw some on my next burger!
That variety has been known to lower blood sugar and help in weight loss...put those fresh flower petals in a salad! If you are going to dry the flowers, harvest when open and get to drier asap! They will shrivel up and mold if you leave them too long...let me know how it turns out!
@@GardeningWithHeidi Oh wow, weight loss? I definitely need to add this to my list. Your videos are awesome. This will be my first time growing hibiscus. I purchased Thai red roselle and cranberry hibiscus seeds. I would love to learn how to make herbal infusions. Thanks!
@@TheCherriwyn that is great! Both make great infusions! Thanks for the follow...will do a video on the how's when my plants are ready for harvest...going to take a little time...thanks for the comment!
Hi from Australia, I have this plant and it grows crazy here but the native bees love it and we find little plants pop up everywhere so it is a bit of a pest if not kept under control
This is true. I find my older plants get some pest damage around the flower location, so I end up cutting them way back or even pulling it out...then a new one just pops up and I can start over. They are supper easy to spot and pull up so that is a plus. Thanks for watching and the comment. Have a great day!
I'm growing this in a container in zone 9b (St. Pete) and love it in salads. Considering planting it straight into the ground, are there any specific soil amendments?
It is not the same...with edible plants you can always boil them...those calyx won't give you the same intense flavor as the roselle...those are very tart and fleshy
If only sabdariffa also have dark leaves like that. I wonder if anyone attempted to hybridize them to get leaves like acetolla and fruits like sabdariffa.
Most Hibiscus from the typical garden centers I would not eat. The cranberry Hibiscus is easy to identify dark leaves, and this one came from a trusted grower.
I just planted this variety. So nice to see the multiple uses. Thank you 😊

Lovely videos! Yes I grow this in SE Queensland, Australia & a few others that you grow there.
Thanks! Happy growing!
Leaf and flower delicious
I love the colors of this plant and flowers. Are they fragrant? Could I use them in potpourri?
No, not very fragrant or for potpourri. Best fresh or dried flowers in infusion.
❤love this

Perhaps should have shown how to plant cuttings for further propagation
Good idea...thanks for watching!
Can we use the cranberry roselle calyx for a tea like the roselle calyx ??

How can I tell which hibiscus plant I have?
Most Hibiscus from the typical garden centers I would not eat. The cranberry Hibiscus is easy to identify dark leaves, and this one came from a trusted grower.
I don't think I will ever have the patience Brenda 😢😢
