Great outside the box thinking. Back when I used to build surfboards we used a thing called a spin template. It allowed you to have a 5ft long template to create board outlines that were over 8ft. That may be a good technique for the glow forge! Nice job bud!

I was originally planning to make a skateboard as one of the examples... but it seemed tricky with the contours. I might need to approach it again now that you’ve mentioned a similar method being used on surf boards.

THANK YOU!!! That made my day :) The shop is only clean when I carve out some time to make a video. ha! I love working in the shop when everything is cleaned up. But it's often really messy, especially when working on commissioned projects. I do have a lot of stuff crammed into this one car garage. It's a great shop though... it's everything that I dreamed it could be. I'm really planning to invest a lot more time making videos in the future. They're so much fun to make!
@@JohnKuiphoff Yeah I have a two car garage that's my woodworking shop but it's not insulated and with temperatures in my area being 85F+ 90% of the year, it's impossible to work in there. Currently I have my 3D printers and laser cutter in my office in my house but I'm quickly running out of room (and my wife out of patience) so I foresee myself having to create a workshop like yours. My goal is to eventually install insulation and an AC unit but that all takes time and money which right now I prefer to spend on my hobbies. Maybe if I watch enough of your videos I will eventually be inspired enough to put my hobbies on pause and focus on making my workshop as comfortable to work in as yours seems to be. Keep up the great work. You'll be at 100k subscribers in no time!
@@hugoender Thanks, Hugo! We live in an 800 sq foot house so I didn't have space for a 3D printer or laser either. How's your laser working out? I imagine that it would also rather be in the garage. ha! Our one-car detached garage was also uninsulated and it really did take a full year to renovate it by myself (because I didn't know how to replace windows, doors, framing, insulation, sound-proof sheetrock, etc). But in the end, it didn't cost too much money and now I have a place that I can make anything. I'm really lucky, especially as we are working from home a lot more right now. I still don't have a mini-split installed. That's next... because it does get hot and cold in there.

Thank you! If you need any guidance on lasers, let me know. I now own 7 of them. Ha! The colored stripes were purchased from roarocket (a skateboard company). Marwood is another place you can get them. These strips are dyed all of the way through. It’s difficult to dye it yourself as the dye will likely not penetrate the whole strip (I’ve tried a few different methods with much success). I’m going to release a video about making laserable plywood that takes all of this to next level in about two weeks. Thanks again!
Hi, Terry! Mine is still going strong... it was expensive. With that said, I use my CNC machine way more and probably don't have enough hours on the bit. I also use compression bits often in my CNC - they're great. Although, I think all of my bits get dull each time I make a bad mistake. ha! I tend to burn them up before they get dull.

Hey John, great channel. What epoxy and process did you use to make the backyard branches pour?
Thanks! I use totalboat epoxy (with a dye) with a vacuum chamber. You could also use a heat gun... But the chamber works so much better.

I personally wouldn't recommend using a flush trim template with a hand trim router. you want one of those fatter 2.25 hp routers
