How 'Bridgerton' Costume Were Made | Behind the Seam | InStyle - Развлечения
I love how self aware they are with the costumes. They’re not trying to recreate the period, they’re being inspired by it. Using Bernadette Banner’s term: “It’s a Style Choice” and it’s beautiful!!!
I was thinking of Bernadette banner's costume reviews the entire time I was watching this!
@CG-lf8st I literally love her! Lol
That’s what I don’t like. But my preference is historical accuracy.
@lsusanna3 I thought I would feel that way also, I finally have it try last month and it’s really well done! Modern day elements are incorporated throughout the show, the music played at the balls are modern pop songs, the makeup is wildly modern, the women have very modern outlooks on life, and so on….I find it interesting and entertaining
That’s fine except the part that they wear corsets, ridiculous. The historically accurate silhouette would look better and actually sexier
I want a Bridgeton costume museum after this show is over. The work and creativity amazes me. I’m serious when I say 50% of why I watch this show is because I love the clothes!
Excellent idea!!! I couldn’t agree more! It would be glorious- 7,500 costumes to choose from
Me toooooooo!!!!!!
They should definitely do one of those tours like Downton Abbey did where they take the clothes and some of the props around to different cities.
Anch'io lo guardo anche per questo.
Avranno creato dall'inizio centinaia di costumi.
I love that idea!!!
the costumes are definitely a factor in the success of the show. They're one of the first things that captivates the viewers. The artistry and beauty of each person gives the show a premium quality.
Kudos to all the artists involved.
colin's clothes were STUNNING
For all the gorgeousness of the dresses-It's the men's clothes that really get me. They are so much closer to historical than the historically inspired womens clothing which makes them feel even more genius. I am in love with waistcoats and watch fobs!
(BTW hands down best outfit for the first 4 was Colin's hero balloon scene blue shirt and vest)
@@pmclaughlin4111 I feel like the men's clothes being a bit more historically accurate works great at grounding the costumes a bit in history, so that they can then have a bit more fun with the women's costuming.
I think it’s also the fact that men dressing this way in today’s time would be so cool, like girls still wear dresses but men haven’t worn these kind of clothes in song, bring this fashion back!
All dresses are breathtaking but that dark green dress that Penelope wears? It's iconic. One of the most beautiful movie dresses that I've ever seen. 👏👏
Honestly? It reminded me so much of Rose's jumping dress from Titanic. I was in awe.
Totally agree, that reveal is going to be in my top 10 reveal moments now! The reluctant reveal.
Absolutely. When a show is going to ham it up with the “wallflower gets a makeover” trope, it has to DELIVER with that new look being breathtaking. And they absolutely did. Nicola is beautiful, and all the departments in charge of making that shine through did their absolute finest work.
It’s my least favorite dress 😂 but I do love her pastel blue one with the dark appliqué
Sissi avec romy Schneider. Autant en emporte le vent et j en passe
Everyone in the costume department deserves a raise!
Yep they do instead they cut the pay for the third season
I love how they added the modern touches to the regency era costumes. They are just breathtaking. Male and female.
cressida's dresses were so different and eye catching. they didn't look the most flattering but i enjoyed that she really wanted to express herself like that
The shoulders just kept expanding!!!
And her hair! I enjoy that it is very elaborate everytime
There is some explanations !!
People are saying that it is to show her distance with the others and you can see in the scene in the park when she only talks with Eloise that she doesn't have the big shoulders cause she opens herself to her
It his also to symbolise a bird cage, she is trapped in it in the same way she is trapped in her house with her abusive parents
Some historian also say that it was a la mode a decade after and it show the way she is in advance on her time
I love the exaggeration of her clothes!! Entertaining...indeed.
I would pay so much money for a giant book on the costumes and even more for a costume department excursion, I'm in awe of what they're doing, every season it gets better and better. The lace, ombre organza/tulles, sparkling and painted fabrics this season? Gorgeous, I can't stop oogling every single person in the frame. And I'm so glad these clearly creative people are given the resources and the space to create all of these, especially as the show evolves and we see more cultural elements on a more diverse cast (there was a particularly beautiful eastern-looking floral fabric on an asian debutant in ep 2 that I've started noticing).
Yes!!! I want to see all the beautiful costumes in a book. Seriously, these are works of art! And with commentary on what how they created th looks.
Costumes are fascinating!! Or an exhibition of the costumes.
Me too ❤
Yep, take my money, now! I hope the gowns and men's costumes are made into an art show or museum!
I agree
Kate's dress in the first episode of S3 is EPIC. The Bridgerton Blue with the brown and copper was jaw dropping. It really set her up as the Vicountess.
in s3 costumes are on another level especially dresses
"Except for God, fear nothing." I SCREAMED that is SO Danbury
I like how this team is not limited by historical accuracy making it clear that everything in this story is about fantasy and they gave us more fashion in the clothes and hairstyles and Dougie excelled making the men look so good, masculine but without submitting to boring or very serious tones 😎🔥
Someone should do a show on how the hairstyles were done
Penelope’s new look reveal was DIVINE. Her hair, the dress color. She looked like fire burning in the middle of the deepest ocean. ❤
Lady Danbury is such a badass. I hadn't noticed the West-African inspired jewelry, but I'll be paying more attention in the next rewatch.
Loved every one of Eloise's outfits in season three so far!
Eloise is stunning this season. The coat she wore was so beautiful, I want one for myself. ❤❤❤
@@happydaze7976 Oh lord yes that coat is amazing. Almost deco in feel.
And they had to improvise for her cast I think it's so fun
As a Ghanaian, seeing Adinkra symbols woven into Lady Danbury's outfits made me swell with pride!!
I could watch an hour of these artists discussing their work. The costumes this season were on another level and contributed so much to the story!!
That dark green dress is effing gorgeous
Loved every single dress of Penelope so far in her new glow up.
1000% agree - I seriously can’t pick a favorite, they’re all STUNNING
I would LOVE to see a Bridgeton costume exhibition so I could get up close and really study all the intricate detail
I’m pretty sure they do have one, I’ve seen influencers go to them
I could easily watch a 4h documentary on this. Stunning!
This is the best of artistry. Learn all the rules and then decide which ones can be broken to create the desired effect.
They are always outdoing themselves with the costumes. The details and artistry is amazing. But the way they plant Easter eggs and reflect where the characters are in the story and how they are relating to others through colour and texture is phenomenal
Really and truly this is why it takes 2 years
For real. A bunch of those crazy delicate fabrics (not to mention the 3D printed stuff) probably can't be machine sewn, they most likely have to be hand sewn which takes so much time!
I’d consider the 2 years well worth it. I’m glad they didn’t rush and made costumes worth revisiting for forever. Truly stunningb
These departments are doing an excellent job. I am in awe in every single episode an scene of how much work and creativity had gone into this. It's not just the romantic Stories, but the art that mesmerizes me. It brings me so much joy.
Green dress is beautiful and she look stunning , but for me the dress she wore at the library is so her so sweet , kind and innocent and her hair and hair band so so pretty.
I loved that ensemble, too. I felt it was very “Cinderella”!
I love the evolution of the costumes. It really elevates the show and the characters. It fits with the setting of AU regency London which allows the costumes to be not 100% historically accurate.
Penelope's / Nicola's looks are PHENOMENAL this season!
I couldn't stop admiring lady danbury's outfit in the 4th episode during the ball. she was stunning!!
Also I've only noticed Colin's horse vest on a second watch and ITS SO PRETTY
I need a whole docu-series on everything going into the costuming process
I am OBSESSED that they are incorporating 3D printing in their costuming. I've been waiting to see this used!!!
For me the costumes often stole the show in season 3!! So many stunning details and fabrics, I absolutely love it. The amount of craftsmanship that goes into this show is really a delight
I'm usually all for historical accuracy in period drama costume BUT Brigerton's costume are just a work of art on their own. I envy those people that get to work on them and make them so much. I would love to create such gowns
Regency clothes are quite easy to sew together, but the details take time! Ribbons, maybe embroidery (not a must), appliqués... There are societies all over Europe and the USA that teach dances and organize balls in the style. I have been to several countries and met people who like Regency while dancing in beautiful mansions. It has become a fun and really nice hobby. I recommend it.
An absolute WORK OF ART!!! I am a sewer myself, therefore I understand the commitment and intricate work that goes into each and every costume. I sincerely hope and would love to see this group win an ACADEMY AWARD for Best Costume Design! That would be the cherry on top for me.
Emmy at best….unless the make a Bridgerton film!!!!!
They deserve everything as wardrobe. Everyone that plays a part in how these people look are PHENOMENAL
We need a spinoff with all the details about how bridgerton is made... everything is so smart and well done, its a shame we didn't know more about it. I just love it
Huh! When I first saw Penelope's new hair I thought Rita Hayworth and Veronica Lake
The costumes are real works of art and absolutely stunning in every episode. What an amazing team of designers!
11:23 oh😍🙌🏻 the way West African people’s culture is similar to ours ❤️🔥. The the symbol on her ring is also similar to “Qusqanat Oyu”, Kazakh’s common significant symbol which also related to bird. And the quote that she said, “except God fear nothing” it is also our people’s life concept❤ So, big hug for all African people from Kazakh girl🇰🇿💗.
I love that this show has empowered the creative staff to flaunt their technical skills and encouraged the various departments to work collaboratively, the final products are simply stunning. I found myself just as amazed by Cressida’s wigs and gowns as I was with the Queen’s. And it’s wonderful seeing all of the different ethnic inspired gowns, not only Kate’s Regency inspired sari but I also saw hanboks and kimonos flitting through the crowds. Top notch work😁
All the costumes this season were breathtaking! The soft pastels, Pen’s costumes, etc just so perfect!
Absolutely mind-blowing. These pieces deserve to be in a museum. This is what happens when creators and artists are given freedom. It's breathtaking.
I seriously drool over the costuming. I want to learn to sew on that level. I wish I had gone to school for costuming the way I wanted to in high school. It’s fantastic.
And there’s just soooo many dresses and outfits. Each one stuns.
The costumes have always been a favorite of mine. Not being restrained by historical accuracy has allowed so many beautiful pieces of art. I cannot wait to see how far they push the envelope. The play in color and fabric types are wonderful!
costumes this season is on another level, thank you
Can we please stick with the 1810 ‘s silhouette for next season like we did in S1 and S2? There’s literally 1950’s silhouettes and it starting to look like Reign. I can’t understand for Portia and Cressida that you’ll want to do something outrageous but now every costume seems to be inspired from different periods.
The fabrics, the detail..each and every piece custom made. The costumes are just as big of stars as the actors wearing them.. the wardrobes for Luke and Nicola this year are exquisite!!!
He is dressed sooo indecent in the balloon scene!
more balloon!!!!
What a dream job...the fabrics...how beautiful...to visualize these gowns is a master designer
How exciting to hear each costume explanation. You can tell they had so much fun creating each one.
Best combo: Red heads and the color green
The costume department did an amazing job for this show and the 3rd season is just the cherry on top. Gorgeous !!!
You should do this an entire mini documental for Netflix or something like that cause its amazing, interesting and sooo important for the success of the show and the characters personality and also evolution through the 3 seasons!!!
some reticules are pretty sick actually🔥. love the layering of 2 "ugly" fabrics to make a nice piece. very Prada to challenge one's self
I love violet's wardrobe glow
Fantastic dresses. I’d love to see a video on Queen Charlottes wigs!
The enthusiasm and dedication of the costume designers in this interview is itself delightful to see!
The costumes, the sets, the hair and makeup are all meticulous! Seriously outstanding and beautiful work!!!! ✨👏😍
Amazing how much work goes into wardrobe. Beautiful dresses and the men wardrobe as well
This season has more stunning dresses that I can’t take my eyes off from looking the beautiful details and colors. Exquisite ❤
I personally prefer the period silhouette with the twist of fashion and art inspiration to make the pieces more lively and interesting to look at!
back then this content would be organized at special features in the series dvd... kinda wish netflix would post in their catalogue so we wouldn't miss out
Absolutely phenomenal artistry in the costume design. So thoughtfully and intentionally crafted. Brava! ❤️❤️❤️
I love how season 3 they're finally wearing spencers!
Just thank you, dear Bridgerton team, for this amazing and beautiful experience! The costumes make 50% of the success!
i love how they know who they are catering for, making the guys look hotter, making a dress that can be easily taken off, they know how to please the fans
I loved Eloise's dresses in S3
I absolutely love the emerald dress. It’s very fitting that Penelope chooses it for her “Alicent moment”.
What an amazing creative team!
Fascinating. I was holding my breath, I didn't want to miss any nuances...most watch again and again. Thank you for making this documentary
Oh I’d really love a longer episode talking each season, fashion, and the clothing and stylistic choices - for the overall seasons, but also each character and their arc as well as interactions with each other.
The costuming is half the reason why I love this series and why I watch it. I am a lover of textiles and to see what the costumers have created with each series is so spectacular to me. Thanks for making this video. It was like eye candy.
I was so happy to see Penelope finally drop the yellows and pinks. I also noticed how much more glitter there is in Season 3.
Bridgerton’s fashion is what I’ve always looked forward to. It’s so refreshing to watch, so inspiring. 💖💖💖👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I wish there’s a full hour episode/bts on costume.
all of the designers and tailors and costume department did such a wonderful job
One of the main reasons I watch and enjoy the show is for the costumes. They are amazing!
Astonished by this level pf art and production..
god everything is so stunningly beautiful 🥺 the hard work that goes in is amazing 🤍
LOVED THIS
Loved getting to see a glimpse of their thought process and how they go about creating the costumes. Excellent.
More videos like this please
Absolutely gobsmacking! Fabulous fabrics and embellishments and amazing skilful artistes bringing them to life. Hallelujah!! Well done to all 💐💕❤️👏💫
I loveeee watching segments like this! The costumes really keep getting better and the attention to detail is immaculate. I wish they had spent some time speaking about Kate's gown at Lady Danbury's ball because it is an absolute work of art!
love Love LOVE how they pick colors that transition under warmer light to make the scenes even more intimate and sexy!!!
i could watch a 3 hour long video on these costumes. thank you for giving them an opportunity to share some behind the scenes of their artistry🩷
2:23 is why I love most Betsy Johnson bag. The structure is timeless but the fabric and colors are everywhere ❤️
Not gonna lie. Whatched this show just for the costumes.
its so fun to see history come into an extreme collision with modern fashion and pop culture. i screamed when the featheringtons were referred to as the versace family. I made that connection in s2 and saw them and a combo of that and the Kardashians. New money, "modern" and campy. and to see them with the classic kennedy, Chanel family is so cool to see within fashion. I also see Cressida resembling like coach or gucci, in the way she dresses young.
I could listen to like hours of this!! Love hearing about all the work gone into this show
I kept noticing Colin’s big huge garnet ring on his hand in all the scenes and was so glad to see it here in this clip. It must mean something to him as he is always wearing it. Or so it seems.
Regency modern! What a great way to capture the show in one phrase
“Regency fantasy” and I have loved that about this show from the beginning!!❤ They show the fantasy aspects in other areas of the show as well, such as in gadgets at the balls or electricity that wouldn’t have existed yet, but they use it in a more magical way, maybe it isn’t even meant to be traditional electricity.
I am now a fan and willing to view the program from the start💖🇬🇧 I appreciate this detailed video! And ❤The Designing Team & Fashions!
6:54 Omg, I did not even notice the colour shifting! That is STUNNING! I am blown away by every detail I can take in. And every rewatch I notice something new.
The fabrics are gorgeous!
Did they win any awards yet? The yumminess of Bridgerton are the exceptional beautiful gorgeous costumes!!
Overall amazing costuming! Thank you for the hard work! And thank you for the insight into it
Season 2 dresses were sooooo good!!!!
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. they truly made art.
