But what if after the Resonance Cascade Freeman finds out that there's not a single living creature left in Black Mesa? And he's completely alone in this ginormous facility. Or is he?
I didn't think half-life could get more unsettling. That looks like an excellent horror mod, trying to complete the game alone while feeling like you're being stalked.
Something secret steers us both, we shall not name it.
Plot Twist: It's Sunday. Gordon just came to work a bit early.
This really encapsulates all my fears in Half-Life; Some off-seen body falling, boxes moving on their own, doors closing and locking behind me.
Actually I didn't plan to put it all in the video, BUT at one point while testing one of the empty maps I heard someone smashing a crate, over and over! Turned out a freshly modified func_train just noclipped through the map and got stuck in a crate, slowly damaging it!

this concept would work amazingly well in a puzzle game or something you wouldn't expect to have a scary side, a game like antichamber or even a walking sim like the stanley parable
I get the creepy walking sounds and things breaking out of nowhere, but the fact the only weapon you can get until lambda core is the crowbar really creeps me out. No dead soldier to get an SMG off, no guard to get a revolver from....
I do believe you can still get the shotgun in office complex
I love how Gordon comes back to only see that the entire building was evacuated, and has to roam around wondering where they went. But he’s not the only one who’s here.

Even interesting if Gordon did manage to activate the xen portal ( 7:53 ) by himself and found out so many scientists, guards, assassins and the military being trapped in xen
This is some Afraid of Monsters-level isolation in the way you wake up after the cascade and not a soul is around.
Y'know, I have fears of being alone as a kid, and I still kinda do (?), but this, is gonna be a challenge if this ever were a mod...Schizo, hearing noises everywhere, things moving and whatnot...it really triggers my Fight/Flight response, I love it.

When Freeman came to a set of two open airlocks, he entered the one on the left.
This was not the correct way to the Lambda Complex, and Freeman knew it perfectly well. Perhaps he wanted to stop by the locker room first, just to admire it.
The locker room was sublime, a work of art. What was it that called so deeply and so personally to Freeman? The health pack in the corner? The slot from which he acquired his suit? No. Freeman knew... it was something deeper. Something... darker.
Everyone expect Gordon teleported to the Xen. What a lucky guy.
He will see so many trapped scientists, guards, the assassins and the military there.
Damn, this is like an old classic star trek episode, but its half-life. All the empty places with unexplainable noises just around some corners, there are some episodes like that I think. I also remember one of the secretcity maps for sven coop did this very well, where the player hears the sounds of people talking from within a cafeteria hall, only to open the door and to an empty cafeteria with the talking sounds immediately gone. Very well made video, brings out that horror of loneliness.

Джи-Мен тут всем уже почти как родной, так что не думаю, что стало бы страшнее, а вот неизвестное нечто, следующее по пятам, оно всегда работает.
И нет, я юзал BSPedit, в нем есть свой примитивный редактор с поиском, а про Lazyripent как-то и не знал даже.

Huh, sounds like there all hiding if you think of it and listen closely
like how portal and portal 2 works. this one can also give you the feeling of fear of being all alone in a place where it got abandoned after the resonance cascade. the only difference is that, it's goldsource instead of source. and with those sounds and machines that move by themselves and stuff, it can give you the perfect feeling of someone is stalking you, and they're trying to scare you by doing stuff and making noises (almost like how gmod works, except that gmod doesn't have an actual stalker, only in videos that are meant to be "ARGs")

Did you convert all those maps and edit them in editor? If so, how much time did it take?
he didnt, he used ripent
Most of the maps I didn't recompile. I just loaded the entities' text info into BSPedit from the original maps, then I deleted all the monsters, blood decals, changed the triggers' targets and added █████ following Freeman. The only map recompiled is the one where the ambush supposed to be (added the corridor and the little room from Blue Shift).

I thought about it. But I still don't know what to do with the HECU presence. Should I change the maps geometry like no military ever arrived or just left everything as is?
@@GoldSrcFreeman that would make much more sense. Make the mod something about Gordon tripping in the test chamber and having a nightmare waking up to see Barney Eli and Kleiner about to get a beer because the experiment went right
