The craftsmanship and the vision this guy has is amazing what a piece of art work
Thank you please see new updates in upcoming video
Thank you
This van is this mans soul and entire life. Big props for keeping the dream alive
Slavic Logic : imagine if he would have dedicated himself to something else.
@@bayview94124 Please, no. His talent is definitely spot-on for a 1971 van. Imagine if he built a house - would you want to live in it?
I've seen such a machine maybe three times in a lifetime!!!!!I want to visit one day USA because of your CAR!!!!!!!!😉👍👍👍👍👍👍
@@bayview94124 well it sat since 1993, so presumptively he’s been doing something else in the meantime.
One of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. Absolutely love that this has been a part of his life since he was 14, you can really feel the history and connection… it’s amazing. This guys children lucked out in the dad lottery - you guys got a good one! The van itself is rolling folk art, with a large helping of memoir. The steering system!? Astounding. So grateful to be able to share in this, thank you OP for posting. I’m off to the “land of what can be”, don’t wait up!
Thank you for the kind statements
Thank you
I have had a bad week. This bought a smile to my face. My late brother in law would have loved this van. He built several himself in the 70’s and early 80’s. Then the van craze faded and he switched to street rods. I spent many a days in my teenage years helping him build them. I know exactly how this man feels.
Sweet ride and justifiable pride. Kudos for keeping the day dream alive all these years ! Makes me feel both old (that seems a lifetime ago) and young again (trippy nostalgia)... I had no idea 70's Vanning was still alive :-) Makes me want to hunt down an old van and go to town on it !
It's Alive and let's do it Keep vanning Alive forever!
I only hope it stays this way forever and it’s appreciated for all the work you’ve done over the years, truly a one of a kind
I am going to keep it original most likely to build another soon
That's one hell of a build. My absolute favorite part are the stained glass markers. Little custom things like that are so cool when you notice them.
The first round were baked bead stained glass kits
Unbelievable you will never see again anything any van of this magnitude beautiful
Thank you
I love this story! He is just a steward of this van. I pray that a family member, friend or stranger acquires this van and 100 yrs from now its still being driven and displayed at car shows.
Impressive!! Every detail is custom, and unique.
Ive driven many of them back in the 70s for various employers, 3 on the tree. no power brakes. Im glad to see one survived to be upgraded
My first car was given to me by my dad. It was a Chevy g20 Winnebago and I've regretted selling it since the day it left my driveway. I would have loved to do something like this to it. Thank you for posting brings a lot of memories back. I may have to get one and build it up after watching it. Awesome Van man so cool 😎
Don't hate, feel fortunate you get to see things like this, most people never create anything.
The word is "clean", not what I like. I can appreciate the heart and effort. She's clean AF.
Thank you
How cool had all these years !!!!!! Big props . Real deal !!!
This van is so cool. And I can appreciate the fact that everything is hand made.
That van is freaking wicked dude! You walked away with the cake with the no steering wheel theme. I really love the originality
I would love to see how its drivin...i bet it looks awesome
Haha I'd have to guess he has dedicated van shoes, pushing the signal buttons with your tootsies kinda feels funny on a bare foot.
This thing is pretty badass, I like em now , maybe not so much back then.
Rose colored glasses.
I will let Leno drive it if he wanted to it's a different ride.
A beautiful job. Awesome van. Loved to go for a ride and watch him drive.
Find me and ask I will be happy to bring you for a ride . A new driving video will be out or soon
Look me up I’ll give you a ride . It will be on a new updated video soon
Awesome video. The story is just as cool as the van. Nice to hear from a guy that actually worked on his car/van and not just payed someone. Good job man!
Thank you for the compliments .
Love the vintage vibe of the van. You just don't see stuff like this anymore.
Even if I dont think shes very pretty I dam sure can appreciate the work and dedication that you put into this ride.
I'd go with fugly, but eye of the beholder. There are plenty of people who love/lust over ugly factory cars. The fact that it exists makes it beautiful. 👍
7:27 Those old Ford vans
had problems with frame rusting out where steering box bolts on .
This man LIVED The Dream.
It is one sweet van😍
Appreciate
Beautiful pain job! I can't wrap my head around the no steering wheel. I would love to see someone drive it. This guy is wayyyyy a head of his time.
Have Jay Leno call me I'll have him drive it it's a trip!
I love it. Absolutely thinking outside the box. I bet you won't see another one like it ever.
You deserve to be thanked !thank you much
I saw this van in person at a couple of shows including the 48th Van Nationals, it is an awesome ride inside and out.
guys the keep the dream alive for a new generation to dream now and for the future thank you sir
I bet cops haven to take a double take when they come to the driver side door especially when they say put your hands on the steering wheel 😂
😂✌✌👏right.
Yeah you would have to rip him out and tase him 😂
Or jus out your hands on the dashboard....but this is DIFFERENT!
My old van had a bumper sticker that said "Don't laugh at my van, your daughter might be in here"...
Ps. It had a waterbed in the back!!! 👍👍👍
Love the he had the van his whole life.....very rare.....cool guy.....true vanner.....
Some people don’t know what it was like in the early days when you wanted to customise your wheels!
No mass produced bolt on accessories or even materials to hand, you made do with what you could get to build your dream machine.
Original and pukka 👍🏻
As I mentioned in the veido,it's amazing how far we came I forgot about filing by hand, cutting with a coping saw Hand screws drivers a electric drill that was big and clumsy, welding in the doors with a coat hanger and torch, having to have someone teach you as you go cause you were almost crazy working on custom Rides! And make almost everything!
Find an old Warshawsky catalog...you'll be surprised at what was available back then. Their store on State St in Chicago was even more impressive than their catalog..I'd spend hours there when I got my first car in '86. Even then, there were plenty of clearance items left over from the 60s and the van craze of the 70s.
Hey Pete Rbuilt.... same with choppers.
Beautiful job on the van. Brings back memories, I owned a 71'....bought it in 1980, junked it in 1999.
Everything wore out on it and it was impossible to find parts. Couldn't fight the rust either.
Is a shame but don't give up find another
that thing is still "over the top"...my Dad woulda loved it , Thanx Stan , Rock onnn
RJ
Made my day thanks
What an amazing attention to detail! His creation is wonderful!
Thanks so much for the remarks
Yes !…the 70’s custom vans ! Great Job !
Thank you
Dear God, I think we may be the same person! We are the same age and do the same stuff! I learned from my dad, who was raised on a farm, how to make things happen with what you have and what can be had. When I had a work van, I had power inverters, power strips, battery chargers, led work and mood lighting and a 12v Boston Acoustics computer speaker system with subwoofer + noise filter all stashed away so the fleet mechanic would not find them. I do RC trucks now and have a '79 Bronco named CIRCA'81, complete with all the performance decals + bumper stickers of the day. My room is equipped with vintage stereo and current equipment- flat screen, DVD, VHS, cassette, equalizer, turntable, etc, 'candle light' made from led candles, 5v phone charger + split rca wiring, (feel free to borrow the idea- I'm also hiding candle leds in my car!) and a 'negative isobar' ventilation system made from an old hepafilter and dryer duct that pulls in cool air from the a/c and under the door and vents into the attic. Later on, brother from a different mother! Lol!
This guy was definitely the top dog back in the 70's
I've always admired these custom vans. I hate working on vans though.
Love the style of the old ford vans from the 60’s and early 70’s.
Even thou this van is 50 years old, it looks futuristic 👍
Thank you I always try to plan ahead
Not my cup of tea but I still love it and happy that someone is so happy with his creation.
Those side doors! That a awesome classic build!
Beautiful work. Love this year Ford Van's
Only thing I don't like is not having the steering wheel
Cragars SS's look good on everything on GM Mopar Ford with letter tires or white walls🤔one of the best wheels👏👏👏USA
my absolute favorite period. i love them on malibu's.
I have a set on my 65 turbo corsa corvair and yes T/A radios.
@@drmachinewerke1 CORVAIR!! I've wanted one since my dad had his 64. They were just cool!
I love seeing a photo of Day Dream in its original state on the dash 👍 the transformation was made with lots of ❤️
That picture is its own story it was in the front yard ewe were in the kitchen and noticed ding materials instead of building materials for I took a picture as a goof
I like that he has such a history with it and it is pretty wild
Wow that is the most unique van I have ever seen. Keep the dream rolling.
im not crazy about it...but i have to give the man respect for doing things with a vision..so in that respect i will say, awesome job !!
" You Gotta Believe "
This Guy's an inspiration to all !
Well done.
Keep up the Positive attitude and spread.the word.
These are a lot of young people's dream cars even today, think about inviting your dream girl into this van. I would very much like to try the crank control, (there is plenty of room for airbags) . I don't want to think about how many hours this man has spent on his artwork, because it is a work of art, without a doubt.
I built a van when I was in high school a 71 Dodge. Shag carpet, bed , icebox and kick ass stereo. Best investment ever
My '90 Dodge B250 Hi-top conversion van is no true custom job, but it's mine, and I have always wanted a big conversion van since I was a kid.
Now, I'm 45, and finally have one. Vanning Is definitely still a thing! I have been seeing a lot more conversions and custom vans around my area lately.
Absolutely the most amazing van I have ever seen. I am needing out on all the tech. Now I know the direction I'm going to go in my interior. Thank you for this video
Thank you for the feedback appriciated
Awesome van and the owner is an awesome person too. Great attitude. Amazing craftsman. Keep truckin buddy.
Had a giggle that the 2 prominent cupboards house the tools and a first aid kit. To be used in that order I dare say. Enjoy your cool ride man.
I had 1974 Club chateau Window van it had the 302 engine we would all go to the rock and roll concerts in it handle like a charm wish I had it today
This made me laugh, My 71 ford van was paneled in LaHonda redwood tounge & groove with a curved bed and a wet bar, Man we were dorks back then! lol Oh I forgot the mirrored ceiling and the Radio Shack light box that flashed to the music from my Craig tape deck. My brother Mark had a quad stereo and tape deck that someone gave him and he converted it to 12v and ran 12" Peavy speakers in his ride, talk about a block rocker! Fun times cruisin' and the drive in.
The true real days .
Pretty sure i was conceived in a van like this. 🤣.
Oxyrisen *nah it would be a rusty white ford transit or Chevy.*
Yes, you were! 😉
I'm pretty sure we all were
Lmao
I know i was
Nice Van inventive engineering at it's finest!👍🏽🏁👍🏽
Thank you
About time someone did a 71 without a steering wheel
Man, I love these old school vans! I want to build me one eventually.
Wow what a piece of rolling history!!!! Outstanding!!!!! :))
Awesome; so great to see that Stan is showing off his van again. We worked together in Suffield many years back and I loved seeing the van when I went to his house; even helped do a little finish sanding one year when he was getting ready for a show. Thanks for sharing.
cool van, great story...thanks for sharing...
I met this guy this past week at the Van Nationals, he’s added a hologram steering wheel since this video was filmed. Him and his son are epic!
Thank you so much for the comments
Definitely next level hologram steering wheel that's nuts lol
Damn that's a cool custom van I love how it's screams 70's with everything in there it cool that he left it all 70's My Uncle had a cool Custom Dodge Van but it was nothing like that van that thing is awesome
Awesome van! I grew up in the 70’s, so bitchin’ customized vans were all over. I think it’s time for them to make a comeback!
definitely does need to come back
Have y'all heard of "#vanlife"?
I dig the vintage DIY vibe. Would be interesting to see him drive it.
Video soon to be out ! Thanks
thank you for sharing it put a smile on my grumpy face
badass dude builds a badass van. hats off to you
Your van is a masterpiece!!! You sir,are an artiste! Salute!👍👍👏👏👏👏👏💪
Thank you my I shake your hand
Now that's cool thanks for building it like I've been told you are very talented sir
Thank you
When I first saw the guy going around the front of the van talking about everything I thought the chrome name tag above the grill said "Dirty Dreams" LOL. I got a good kick out of that.
When I realized the guy actually named his van "Day Dreams" and heard how important that was as a part of the theme for his creation and how often he came back to that as being the heart of his concept I still couldn't shake the funny thought of what I originally thought he named his van and it kinda made me feel bad for still chuckling at the thought of this dude driving around in a shaggin waggon called "Dirty Dreams"!!! LOOOOL
This dude is a serious and dedicated creator and the awesome history of what he has put into this thing is pretty rad.
Just imagine the time it took to do all that wiring for all those switches!
Not even my twisted humor can take that away from him.
And No steering wheel? When it got to that part I thought he was going to say something like...
"Before you can steer it you gotta get very high and imagine the wheel... then use your thoughts to turn it."
But then he pointed to the bus door opener looking lever control and I was like oh it's like a boat keel kinda but backword.
Far out man!
Day Dreams is OK but it will always be remembered by me as the "Dirty Dreams" van because that is soooo much more fitting.
Lots of incorporations. The steering handle immediately made remember the lever for the door on school buses. Paint job looks 👍.
Wow very creative, never seen one like that.👍
This video made me want a van
Fascinating. This is a true labor of love.
Thank you
Ahhh my first van 71 Ford!!
Mine had a killer flame job!!
I love flames most of the time I like to gost them
Definatly a keeper! Very personalized, its cool!
I had a 72 chevy van. We worked on it for a couple yrs. to customize it...Those were the days.
I miss my van ! 76 dodge van conversion ! Went everywhere ! Didn't get a room ! Staied in the van ! Most of my kids were made in that van !
IF THIS VAN IS ROCKING DON'T COME KNOCKING ! JUST BEFORE IT DIED
ONE OF MY SONS THAT WAS MADE IN THAT VAN GOT TO DRIVE IT TO HIGH SCHOOL AND DID A BRODY IN THE PARKING LOT ! AND TOLD ALL HIS FRIENDS THAT HE WAS MADE IN THIS VAN ! THEN IT WAS CALLED THE SHAGWAGON!
😂😀👏👏👏👏hahah nice dodge vans are badass as u can see Ford GM to 😀✌👏👏
True work of art from the wiring , paint to the loss of the steering wheel , lots of people don't know most aircraft are contro by the feet on the ground its hard to thank of a plane landing at 100 MPH plush and stering it down the run way but with skill and time people can amaze you,
This van would have been a hit in lots of the movies of the 70's its pure art and pure hard work from dreams thanks for showing your skill and dreams
To me this would have been a big hit in any of the Cheek & Chong movies
This is nice af. I love vintage model vans
That is one cool Ford. And, I'm a dyed in the wool Bow Tie Guy. Good Job.
Absolutely ever attention to detail paid to!!!
Awesome theme and I’m a big believer in Positive attitude yields positive results!! Great story and cool van glad you brought it back!! Ty

That is baller legendary,, that's so old and so cool for the tech ya put in there at the time love it! Blast from the past!!
Nice van. That's the same year I had, but mine wasn't as tricked out. Keep on truckin'.
Very creative custom work... nice job sir...
Thanks
I had the same tires and wheels on my ‘71 440 Roadrunner (in early ‘80’s) ...they are the best look for a vehicle in my opinion 😉
Good job! Great van and story! Thank you for sharing this!

Yea it's fun to go back into something you built in the past, and realize how much you've learned since then.
Critique your work and look back at the old days.
I'm always like , that was stupid I'd do it different now🤣
The Ultimate Boogie Van..." Don't come a knock'n when the Vans a Rock'n"
Your van your way...groovy baby!
Keep on truckin'👍🏽
I once had a 71 Ford Van...those were my Freedom Days. I drove it all over the country. Your Van is absolutely awesome. Day Dreamz . Luv it!
