Though I stand by everything else said in this video, I would like to walk back my statement on the show being longer than 5 seasons. It turns out, that was intentionally misleading. The show WILL be ending at 5 seasons, which does give me relief. Update: this season was bad.
1:38 literally at first- stormfort was presented as this sjw girlboss (even has the stereotypical haircut of a "w0Ke" girl) only for her to turn out as what she was which was so genius. she was an interesting villain for sure
Very good and nuanced view, i agree generally, though I think the girls get it done was more tongue in cheek, and once they fought and used the slogan for real as it felt earmed, unlike portals opening at the end of a movie so they could cameo "Girl Power". It will be interesting to see where they take it, 3 ending was a bit lack luster.
Homelander was STRESSFUL during the first season anytime he was on screen. You get a feeling of hopelessness and straight fear anytime the boys shared a scene with him. It really drives in the fact these are dangerous ppl with powers and how will the boys defeat them? You don’t think get that feeling in any of the newer seasons after season 1. The Boys was at its peak when it had scenes The Boys trying to take out a supe without using brute strength like translucent.
The problems only became worse with time but were there to begin with. I feel like part of the reason they don't want to use MM aside from being the butt of the joke (a problem hollywood seems to have in general with black actors that aren't put on a pedistal for virtue signaling) is due to part of the reason he is like that in the comics. The showrunners absolutely love gore and extremely disgusting scenes but not to showcase just how horrible it is, favoring "comedic" or capitalizing on the shock of it instead.
Seen the entire first season and the first episode of the second one. I really like she show so far. When I saw the trailer for Season 4, I thought it was gonna be the final one because the trailer showed it to feature world-scale danger and Billy Butcher at the end of his life, which is what I expect from a series finale. I don't know how they might move forward with the escalation of threats after this, but only time will tell.

@@Theybo2understandable. I’m more interested to see how they handle Chance Perdomo’s passing. I get the worries people have about the show, but I think it's hopefully going in the right direction. My biggest problem right now is the progression of the show. Season 3 was good, but it felt more of a set-up for season 4. Hopefully we get more action in the new season.

@Masterbaiter1000 L take 😂 Miyazaki himself said Dark Souls 2 is one of the best Souls games because it dared to be different. Plenty of later Souls Bourne games have loads of stuff from DS2 in as well. I'll take Miyazaki's word over yours 💀
I agree with you that it will get to the point where the show gets boring but that’s true of any long running show. After season five they need to end the show with home lander over taking the white house and being killed. In some sort of way
I dont think the show is pro-woke; I think it’s anti-trump😂. People are mad cause now they see the connection between the alt-right, ethno-nationalism, and Trump
In my opinion, The Boys has a massive problem when it comes to its main villain Homelander. The whole thing about homelander is that he is meant to be so unkillable that all the governments on the planet are terrified of him due to there not being a single weapon on Earth that can harm him. The problem with that is how the writer Erik Kripke wants to humiliate his Trump allegory as much as possible to the point where it doesn’t even make any goddamn sense. The story inconsistencies that have happened because of Erik Kripke’s stupidity and bias are ridiculous. For example, they say that Homelander has not been damaged by any weapon on Earth. This presumably means nukes, but even if it doesn’t just know that Maeve broke her arm stopping a school bus. A school bus weighs around 12 tons, and she broke her arm stopping it. The heaviest bunker buster weighs 15 tons, and was one of the weapons that failed to damage Homelander. Then in season 3 Maeve manages to damage Homelander despite it being established that it would be impossible for her to do so without breaking her arm. There’s also the fact that Homelander can lift something that weighs around 90 tons like an airplane, but too bad there isn’t an airplane that won’t just collapse around his hands if he tries to lift it at a small point. Although there is also the fact that he could have used the landing gear and just flown between them, providing a little bit of lift to each of them, since we know he should be faster than his comic book counterpart who could outpace comicbook Billy Butcher who could dodge comicbook Stormfront’s lightning, and that the writers said that show Homelander is more powerful than his comicbook counterpart. There is also the fact that comicbook Homelander could fly at Mach 70 during the herogasm arc. You see, this is what happens when you have writers who want to make the strongest supe a trump allegory who they hate, but who are also incapable of remembering facts about their own goddamn story. And they think they need more than 70k a year to write worse than a high schooler.
Maeve was a child when she stopped the school bus which is why she fractured her wrist. I assume if she tried it as an adult she would be fine. But I agree. The power scaling in this show is the worst I've ever seen. He gets stabbed by a metal straw in the finale...wtf? Not only that, but apparently it only takes a single dose of temp-v to match Homelander in strength.
Damn wtf I figured this was gonna be over after season 5 and me personally I hope we go more of those “anime fights” which there not bc it’s like there flying in the sky going thru multiple buildings destroying everything. It’s got superhero’s what kinda fights to u expect it to have?
I think anime fights are fine. My issue's not with them being present, my issue is that it no longer implements the strategy element that was so strongly present in the first season. Which is just a preference. I'm down for more anime fights, but I think the point that it's a comic book series doesnt really work, because the entire purpose of this show is to mock, satirize, and spin the comic book formula into something new.
To put it plainly, the issue is that the anime fights arent very good. They're not choreographed well, and it relies on an overabundance of jumpcuts to give it tension. Simply put, this is not a show that I watch for the action. If I wanna watch a superhero action series for the fights, I would watch literally any other comic book series. My gripes come from what this show DOES have going for it that sets it apart from everything else, slowly being lost in translation as each Season runs along.
The boys is enjoyable propaganda. I'm definitely interested in seeing if events play out in real life after being aired on the show. We live in a decisive world, only right this show & gen v are polarizing. I respect people's opinions but the "token" character crack, wasnt accurate. MM needs more development but there are a lot characters and political views in The Boys universe. Interesting video doe.
I can only go off of what's shown here, but idk how Tomer Capone's post is blatant zionism. Pro-Israel and IDF, sure, though I wouldn't conflate those with the belief of having, for lack of a better phrase, their "God-given right" to a Jewish state. Otherwise, I agree with a lot of the sentiment you have about The Boys. Seems like it could very easily end up like The Simpsons in that it's counterculture appeal wanes overtime and the series morphs into everything it was created to mock. That is, if it hasn't already happened. I also would rate S2 significantly lower than it's other seasons, mainly because of Stormfront being such a focus over the most interesting parts of the story.
If you read into his other posts, you'll find he was actually in the IDF and actually has confirmed kills. This isn't just him "supporting" Israel, he actively helped them.
