Soldier is a bad guy but he is so well written and charming. Hes definitely the most noncartoonish realistic portrayal of a corrupt man in power in the series. He’s broken but he’s got a code of ethics. He’s a killer but by neglect and accident rather by maliciousness. He’s a bully and abusive but he’s open to sharing his trauma and even a pretty competent fighter.

Soldier Boy, kinda reminds me of the comedian from watchmen. Because there’s a series called before watchmen, where they tell of his early years in Vietnam. He was strictly there to be a poster boy, but instead took his own initiative to fight in the war, and he did very horrible things. I like to think that soldier Boy did something like that but did even worse things (and mainly on American soil). He became such a liability to Vaught with all the coverups and propaganda, Causing them to change the face of the company with a new specimen.

This is an example of the live action version being way better than the source material. I don't think Solider Boy would've worked if he was always super cowardly. Instead, he's a more "realistic" exacerbated parody of Captain America that behaves more like a traditional solider. The funny thing is that it still works as a proper deconstruction.

I think the view of his dad was extremely skewed. In one statement he says that his father sent him to boarding school to get rid of him. But, he later says that after he took compound V, his father told him he had cheated. It shows that his father was invested in the moral character that soldier boy was developing, but that he wasn’t receptive to how his father was trying to shape him into a man. It obviously resulted in him becoming an eternal man child.

Boys season 3 was fantastic writing but with stupid flaws. SB is an oaf, a bully and a jerk, but he isnt sadistic like HL. SB can be contained by gas. HL cant. SB was the only one that couldve killed HL. So it pure stupidity to have the final episode focus on stopping SB when its HL that was the greater threat.
