My face is very asymmetrical and I can't notice it when I look in the mirror but when I look at pictures people take of me I can't help to look over and notice it. I really wish my face was symmetrical because it's makes me so self conscious. Anybody know how to fix it without surgery?

Catherine Cranford try doing things gradually more with your other side if you tend to smile with one side leading make your opposite side lead the smile again gradually it can shape up but not forcing smiles with one side its a process this an assumption as well chew with the other side more often

this is my problem too. I never notice until it's a picture that someone else took of me. My jaw is crooked because my face is long and it makes one side of my face look puffier than the other. I really wish I could fix this too, but I'm scared something will go wrong, so I want to find a solution that is non-surgical as well :/

@@pravallika1439 Everyone is different but I'm still dealing with minor swelling at 10 weeks post-op. It peaks dramatically on day 3-4 and stays there for 2 weeks before you start to look somewhat normal again.

I've been tongue pressing for about 2 years now and have noticed a difference in my jaw asymmetry and my muscles around my lower jaw. It also gets more comfortable over time it's quite odd. I do still sit sometimes with my tongue hanging stupidly forward and have to correct it.
Did more jawline become more symmetrical?

@@purveshkasbe9561 since my update the only noticable difference is now my tongues fits against that pallet of my mouth without having to squeeze it in which is something. It's more comfortable and my face posture is better. I also rarely bite my cheek now which I used to do over and over again. This is 5 years in. Only subtle difference in appearance but it's there if compared. Side profile noticably more attractive.

We tend to notice more asymmetry with our appearance in pictures because pictures are not laterally inverted. But your mirror image is! A photo is how others see you and a mirror image is how you see yourself. We notice stark differences because we aren't really used to seeing ourselves like that.

@@cone442 we feel that we look ugly in photos because we are not used to seeing ourselves like that. Little assymetries feel amplified. Try horizontally flipping your photos, that is how you are used to seeing youself in a mirror.
For other people, that is how they normally see you and they are used to it.

That’s not entirely true.
Photos can show a distorted image of how you really look based on the type of lens used to take the photo, mirrors can also show a distorted image of how you look if the mirror is bent or too old.
Please do some research on how camera lens and different mirrors can distort the way you look, if you don’t believe me.

@@aleksev2300 if you have asymmetry, that means the maxilla is unbalanced. So yes, you do have asymmetrical cheekbones as they are connected to the maxilla.

Oh this is all so complicated. I know the main basis is that I should be keeping my tongue planted at the roof of my mouth but being a 30 year old indigenous Alaskan female with facial asymmetry AND an underbite, it's hard to keep my tongue up there. I am constantly re-pressing it up there whenever I remember. I don't even know if I am doing it correctly half the time. I wish I had an orthotropist to help me out here... it's so hard though I live in a rural Alaskan village where everything is expensive and it's hard to get by at times. My family could never afford braces. Now as an adult with a job and health insurance I wanted to get braces but I thought these videos were the great Hail Mary miracle that would help me treat myself but... it's so complicated. Me being so old isnt making things any easier either. This is my 5th week of working on my tongue posture and I have VERY little to show for my efforts. I can rest my top teeth on top of my lower teeth easily now but when i chew my food or sleep, my jaw moves forward again and I have to re-position my jaw and tongue again...

I had braces for a very long time 7 years ago , that is where they told me I have an asymmetrical face , I was offered a surgery that costed 20,000 which my mom did not have ! So the other option they gave me before putting braces on me would be to remove lots of teeth & try to get a normal bite but not perfect since my jaw is asymmetrical, I still dream of getting this surgery but it is a lot of money

When i was atleast 12 my face was all even until i got into a habit of grinding my teeth and bending my jaw side ways,also i always rest my face on my fist and sleep side ways. Now im suffering tmj and i have a huge face plus the right side of my face is bigger than the left side

+Ténzy jangchup yes. actually the problem is with the bone. The braces will just straighten and push back the teeh but you still need surgery.

hello I have a question, how do you get rid of dominant side of the tongue. I can get up my right side easily but not the left side, how can I prevent this so I don’t mew uneven?
My facial assymetry is visible in the mirror, i think it's due to the fact that I broke my leg when I was a child, because of this i have a leg 1.5 cm longer, giving me uneven posture, and overtime facial asymmetry, I'm 22 and i don't really know if there is any solution

I recommend chewing a lot on the side that looks smaller. Chew meat and chew anything that really makes your jaw work

I had a lower right 3rd to the last molar removed when I was around 12 years old.
Growing up I really thought my body is just growing assymetrical and that's just how I'm built.
It became more noticeable during college that the right side of my face is becoming more like sagging,
like "bulldog" or having a candy on that side of the cheek as my peers mentioned before.
Now I'm 31, same thing, face has matured and I look older on the right side.
And I realized only just now, 19 years later, that my molars have sunken forward to the space of the extraction,
and that my right jaw corner has moved forward as well unlike the left side which looks ok.
It's obvious the extraction has deformed my face.
Is there still a solution for this? Like orthodontics to push the molars back and then an implant?

In theory they could expand things out to make room for a tooth implant. They have appliances that do that called expanders. You'd probably also need braces to position the teeth after the expansion. A lot of time and money but it is possible.
Start calling dentists and ask if they do expanders to widen the arches and make space between teeth

Hmm.. I don’t think anyone can help me. One side of my face (left side) has more forward growth or atleast the jaw is more defined, out and my nose appears smaller there. My other side though (right side) is the opposite but it’s not a dramatic difference. Then I thought I’d just mew harder on the right side you know.. But! My teeth.. On the left side (top row) they are lower down and then the right side teeth (top row) are higher up which makes it.. make no sense. If my left side has more forward growth then my teeth should be higher up! Since my face is grown upwards! And my right side should be lower! Everything seems to be leaning to my left, as well as my nose. My teeth. And.. I don’t know If I should be mewing more on left or right? I’m wasting time and I’m only 15 years old so I think I can still do it but I need help! If someone has an answer it’s much apprecieated!

@@youjustcalledmewhat I believe at the time I was having similar issues but a dentist said it was due to an impacted wisdom tooth. I don't think mine are impacted and wanted to see if some else had a similar situation.

My whole life I've been chewing on one side cause of my dental problems.I never notice it earlier but now I can see that one side of my face is shorter/wider than the other.Is there any way I can fix this without surgery?
I can't link to anywhere, it was a while ago, but I did see a study that concluded chewing on one side of the face does cause the face to become shorter and squished on the side that is chewed with and longer on the side that is not.
If I remember correctly, switching the side you chew on may have a reverse effect.

@@olcapone3039 I've done a lot of research and realized that I've developed OCD. Or have always had it. We over analyze ourselves. It then affects us negatively everyday. Body dysmorphia could be a subset of OCD. I'd recommend you see someone to see if you have OCD.

I have slightly angled jae it's because I had a serious accident that just lay down with a lower was hit on the ground and also through upper jaw both collapsed..as a result I had lot Manny teeth's..now teeth grown by god grade.but my jawa Angled ..it's like not perfect ..how u treat that? I feel like these guys are con artists. They say they’ve completely fixed her asymmetry, well maybe show us a before and after? They just ramble on in every video talking about very technical things but show no actual evidence of their results. And to top it off they charge £400 for a consultation. Sorry but I don’t buy any of it without some evidence.

Neither of them have the ‘correct jaw position’ or face shape either.
I don't know but their advice (available free on these channels) has made my face so much better than before. It has rectified my speech patterns, cured by TMJ pain, made my voice relaxed and deep, corrected my breathing, sharpen my jawline, made my neck stronger, corrected my head posture- and made me a much more confident person. And I haven't paid a penny. Thanks to these guys and a wonderful platform called RUclips.

I need help for my tmj problem... Is this type of illness curable?
