I’ve flown multiple CTLS’s, one on floats. My take is that they need the 914 or even a 915 once the new rules are put in place. Yes, the 912’s are dependable and sip fuel making for great range, but I feel they are underpowered. I’ve yet had one reach 120kts in level flight except one day that was 24 degrees at altitude with the pitot freezing up. Good thing the I-Pad was still working.
I agree the new rules will change everything if approved, even as written. Hopefully the changes will get tweaked a bit more in a positive way. It will be interesting to see any opposing comments or rationale. I do enjoy the economy of the 912 in my CTLS and I have seen 118-120 knots CAS at altitude. However, if the new rules go through, I will likely be looking to upgrade for speed and more room & baggage. We should see a manufacturing boom from this and an opportunity to replace a very old and aging group of training aircraft.
Enjoyed the video immeasurably. It was only a month ago that I took my daughter for her 1st flight in our new 2014 CTLSi. It had only 213 hours on it and I still can't believe it's mine. It's at just under 300 hours now.

I test flew the new f2 and I am sold. Just waiting to see what happens with mosaic before I get serious about buying
I am curious to see what happens with mosaic as well. Haven't heard anything since last year on the subject. I keep hearing August 2023, but not counting on anything just yet.
@@ctcrosswindadventures5165 the next big MOSAIC meeting of ASTM is next month. I'd bet on August happening.

It is clamped to the protruding edge of the glare shield. You can see the clamp in another video. It's the one about Southern Illinois for Lunch. There is a good view of the clamp during the run-up.
