I've said it before, I'll say it again! This guy has cracked the code... He can make Casio videos for the rest of his life and his channel will still be flying! We're entertained
My mom bought me this watch as a gift when I was in high school. I used it in my first car because it didn't have a clock and I needed a sturdy watch with a good light. This has one of the best backlights of any Casio ever. I replaced the velcro strap with a olive drab green nato strap and it's a great looking watch.
I fell in love with this, it's a great every day watch, I like the colour and the strap. I actually stopped the video and bought one, then came back. Can't wait for it to arrive!! And your misses liked it.
This is a perfect summer watch for me. I own a large chunk of land and am constantly mowing, cutting wood, etc. Afterwards I sometimes like to jump in the pool before going in the house. Just added to my Amazon Xmas list.
Lol Im here after watching Urban Gentry's Breguet purchase video. I love the juxtaposition. And I kind of get why someone would like this Casio. The more I look at it, the more I'm intrigued by it!
I took it's digital brother to Basic Training in the US Army. Never broke, never died, but God did that strap smell like shit after 5 months of total job training. 😂
Try that old trick to fix "fragrant" NATO straps. Clean with dish-soap then get a (spare!) toothbrush and scrub with a paste of baking soda & water ...Voilà stink gone 👍
@@knutjunker2019I used to keep one in my toiletries bag for travel. It was good in that respect as an alarm clock, but I never wore it. I took the strap off it too.
I have one of these and particularly like the domed resin glass and the strap is pretty cool, The light is unusal but I like quirky watches like this one
I initially hated it, but by the end of the video it had grown on me. It's exactly the sort of watch that would look right at home covered in mud on a trek through a field. I'd like to see them take this style and run with it - a G-Shock model, a stainless steel or titanium model... Lots of possibilities.
I have two of these. The green and black and the one shown here. One of my favorite and a model every Casio enthusiast should consider getting. This watch actually has 2 batteries: one for the watch itself and another for the light.
Yes. It’s important for someone who owns it to be aware that if the watch stops running but the light is working that it is NOT broken. It just means that the movement battery has died but the light battery hasn’t. I almost threw mine away thinking that since the light was working but watch wasn’t it couldn’t be just a dead battery but that’s exactly all that it was.
Honestly this one is pretty good! I bought olive color one a few years ago for my gf as a lil gift. She is not into watches like I do especially with “toy-like” Casios, but she loves it. This watch even looks cooler on your wrist!
I have the green version. Had it for 5 years now, it's my go to watch on my beach holidays. It's small, I think it's the the smallest watch I own, but it's also very light on my wrist. Probably best watch I have for outdoor activities.
It looks like it took a great deal of inspiration from the Timex Camper. Same price too. The strap design is the same. The Camper also has 100m WR, a resin case, 36mm dial and of course the Indiglo night light. The Camper has a smaller cleaner look due to lack of bezel and more of an 'easy reader' font for the numerals. I love my Camper, it's the perfect field watch. Reliable, tough enough, comfortable, supremely utilitarian and cheap so you don't have to worry about bashing your watch while you are out hiking. It's my back up with a Suunto Core if I am out in the hills though I am looking at a Bertucci to add to my hiking kit as well.
That light is strong enough to dimly illuminate a few feet around you. Perfect for a tent at night in a pinch, or searching in a pack to find your main flashlight… err… torch. 😁
Bought this while on tour with a play. It matched my costume but doesn't really go with what i wear day to day..... but i wear it often anyway, it's just very pleasant to have on your wrist and it looks better in person. The back light is very pleasing
I’m a massive field watch fan so I’ve always been a bit curious about the Forester. So much to appreciate about this bargain analog beauty! I don’t think I could get on with the Velcro strap though but otherwise this would be right up my street! Awesome show MWC!
"Doing the job" ist one of Casio's key competences. Everything else a matter of personal preferences. This is why I like Casio. They offer watches for every taste and budget. Many owners of luxury watches own at least one G-Shock which can easily take some abuse but still have style and history.
I bought one of these when I was in 11B OSUT. It was a fantastic watch that I unfortunately lost in a field op. They're super popular with forest rangers from what I heard from a forest ranger acquaintance.
I have the older FT-600W. Ani-digi… I love it! So light I don’t even know I’m wearing it! Easy to read analog display with digital day/date. Can I own two?!? 🤣
Before I retired I needed a watch. Always liked Casio. I wore out a Casio electronic watch. I now have a Casio Forester. I wear all the time forget it's there.
I like it for what it is and brings. I would like: - the bezel above the face to protect the dial, - a step machined on the inner half of the crown to allow easier extraction, - a mat, single colour exterior, and band in light, medium, dark tan, and black. This provides low visibility for any skin colour. Nice job.
Dope!! The analogue Casio I’ve been looking for maybe. Love the big light button, the 4 o’clock dial and it looks rugged enough for everyday wear at work and in the gym.The green version looks better in my opinion. Hopefully the strap is removable/replaceable. Thanks for bringing this to my attention 👍🏻👍🏻
I have an old quartz Timex that this reminded me of, from when I was a kid. Has an alarm function, indiglo, and rotating bezel to use on the compass rehaut. Super cool watch I like to dig out every now and then. It’s bashed to all hell. I’ll have to tag you on Instagram with it next time I get it out.
I dug out my ana-digi AW80V-5BV today while watching this video. Same color, strap, 10 yr batt, only 50m WR though. It doesn't say Forester, however, it does have the tree logo on the strap and has a metal loop instead of plastic. I was surprised it was still running as I've had it for over a decade now. 😅
Remember when Illuminator actually meant EL Backlight? Older references of the Forester had a backlit dial a la timex indiglo, instead of an LED. And honestly I don't understand this kind of retrograding on the part of Casio, they had that incredible blue Backlight since the 90s, that was strong and perfectly even all across the dials, and now they're replacing it with with either little orange or white lamps on one corner of the dial, or that white "Backlight" on the newer gshock references, where the light source is still obviously an LED light on one corner, just better distributed across a digital screen. Makes a 90s technology look and feel more advanced than what they come up with in 2024. It's obviously more cost effective for them this way, but it has an effect on the watches too, they look cheaper. Sorry for the rant. 😅
The casio forester line should be brought back. I have 5, each a different model from the late 90s and early 2000s. I really like the variety of field watchs casio use to have.
I would LOVE to see a light like this on more analogue Casios. This brown or green one is not for me but the light is awesome and totally agree a stainless steel version would be very cool.
Greetings from Oz....& I discovered the Forester just over a year ago. Initially in the brown, but I really liked the green & black....so I purchased both 🤣 If I had a criticism, it'd be the rather small face, (to me but maybe not to you), & the spread of light from the led, could be slightly better, (as I can't always make out the date in a hurry in the dark),....but mind you, I am in my 60's now, (goodness where did the time go ?? 😳)....& youngling's or younger-ling's would probably have no issue. All in all a great everyday watch. I have a number of nice affordable analog face watches, but these Forester's are terrific value 😉 Get one....or 2 🤣👍
Love the Forester (not just the Subaru 😉), I've been wearing it at work occasionally for years now, even got complimented on it. Feels like Camel Trophy on your arm 😄! Just had to change the strap (brown perlon), 6-inch wrist 🤷♂.
As you say-Casio bred with the Timex Expedition! Hopefully it doesn't have the same loud tick! It looks very good for the price-one niggle for me is that I would prefer the blue light illuminator like on our beloved W-86. But I appreciate what you say about the brightness and reserve judgement on that until mine arrives soon!
Blimey! Ye broke yer thumb-nail on that crown, chipped it right to pieces! The FT500 has been on me shopping list a while, but if it's that dangerous, I'll have ta skippit!
I have a Casio AW80V-5BV AnaDigi display Forester, which is very similar, bought for $19 US in a Sears clearance sale a few years back. A great watch excepting you have to adjust the time digitally. It also is an Illuminator but with LEDs at 3 and 9 o'clock.
I bought a Casio Forester ana/digital watch three or four years ago. A very nice field watch. I need to change the two batteries on it but will get around to it eventually. The colours of the watch are similar to this one. My Casio has an illuminator feature on it but only on the digital screen which is quite small so is disappointing because of that. A accurate watch though. The other downside is that it only has 50M water resistance. I will look out for this one you have got. Great review Russell and thanks for your review.
That light is interesting. I have this watch (bought it a year or two ago) and the whole face lights up like a Timex Indiglo as opposed to the light at the bottom. 🤔
I used to own one a few years ago, but I sold it. The "cheap Casio"-slot in my collection has been filled with an AW-80, an ana-digi watch I got for a little more than $20 not too long ago. You should take a look at that one.
My Casio Geotrail FT-111H from early 2000's has he same tree logo, just thought I'd throw that in!. If that was stainless steel, you would sacrifice the brown and that just wouldn't do 😃
yo lo tengo en verde con beige, es muy buen reloj, le puse una correa nato porque la de velcro se rompe y desgasta después de los dos años. El cristal se raya fácil pero nada que dentífrico no arregle

I bought this watch for my sister who is a park ranger last year. She loves it!
It seems like a great match for a Ranger's uniform.
I have made respect for our Rangers and the service they provide.
Please tell her thanks for us.
It does look like it was custom made for park rangers, super cool watch
Just gave one of these to my grandson. He loves it! Perfect watch for a young man.
Hopefully he'll love watches over time and avoid the Apple watch desire.
The way the light fades out kinda reminds me of a campfire slowly burning out!

@karlost23 lol bro, it's been long long gone, that was in june 98.
Just bought one after watching your video. The backlight is so bright it's come in handy as a little torch a few times already
