What I want to know is, if it was THAT easy for him to find a job after he took on all the extra responsibility of taking care of every one of his wife's physical needs (which also paid well-enough to do so), why did he spend so much time beforehand as an unemployed loser who listened to podcasts all day?
This is the kind of movie that happens when you get a great idea that doesn't actually make any sense, but you've somehow convinced yourself that you're brilliant for thinking it up.
The thing is, apparently the original script actually did deal with the real world more. Not sure what possessed them to change it to this-- oh, right. Money.
There's also a strong showing of "a political message that overwhelms the actual film". Highlighting gender issues is a laudable goal (particularly because there are a disgusting amount of people who don't understand them), but but when the message overrides the logic of the film it just confuses and defangs the message. Kind of like what happened with District 9 and racism.
I feel like it could've been improved massively by linking the weird events to the real world. Like Ryan said, when the husband excercises her legs she could suddenly cut to going for a run and not know how she got there. They could film all the actresses not blinking and randomly having watery eyes in scenes. They could have the only food in the simulation be whatever they feed coma patients. You know, just generally connecting plot hints to the actual story. Making the woman who is sacrificing her life to be with (simulations of) her kids actually really happy to see them again would also help. Like, have her be unreasonably happy and grateful. I think that would sell it a bit more.

As weird as this sounds, this is a seriously good way of deconstructing movies and learning from them when working on your own projects. Plus it's just fun.
Everyone is talking about the catch phrases "super easy barely an inconvenience" and " (...) is TIGHT", but my all time favorite is when the producer guy says " I guess that makes sense" I am a school teacher in a Danish school. My personal favorite is when the producer points out a plot whole or something nonsensical and the screenwriter replies "Hey shut up, so...." and just continues on. That one always gets me.

The pleading and desperation in producer guy’s voice @ 1:40 seems incredibly genuine, like he’s really, really worried about things not being as they seem.
"It's like the Matrix, only with 10,000 times less kung-fu" "So, a little bit of kung-fu?" That got me to snort out my drink and I wasn't even drinking anything!
The biggest surprise of this film is really that you go in expecting the twist to be one thing, but then it turns out to be exactly that thing you thought it would be and you wonder what the point of it all was. A bold choice by the filmmakers if I’m honest.
The evil plants from The Happening...lol Unexpected plot twist. Stupidity level 100. Sometimes the plot can also twist way too far, and then becomes a mobius strip of stupidity...
I was expecting/hoping the town of Victory would be on the moon or mars, yet no one was allowed to know except the executives at Victory. A story about colonists without having given consent could have made for an interesting story about being shanghaied and left on a wasteland in space.

I would call it more confused if anything. What's the message? If you want a housewife DON'T trap her in a virtual reality that's not technologically possible with our current level of technology in ANY way? If your wife has a job don't kidnap her? Your goals and the results of your efforts to achieve those goals should actually align? That last one's not too bad actually.
This movie was someone’s dream right before they woke up. But quickly forgot all the in-between bits so just stitched all the parts they remembered together and put it in a movie.
It's also a quote one of the lead actors (Harry Styles) said when asked what his favourite part of Don't Worry Darling is. Just gonna post the whole thing 'cause it's pretty funny. With the premise of the movie it seems like it would make more sense to make the simulation like an actual place the characters are like the Truman show with a conditioning element rather than a Virtual Reality where in the real world the husband has to do all the stuff he wants the wife to do in the simulation thus defeating the purpose of what he wanted in the first place.

Wow Wow Wow….wow. This might be favorite Pitch Meeting yet. He mentioned EVERY thought I had during the movie - 90min of weird things happening with no answers and 1,000 questions at the end.
I thought it was odd how the neighbor knew it was a simulation and chose to still be a crappy mom that her fake kids even favored the neighbor over her. And they never explained how the kids died, but I'm sure she either killed them (since she seems kind of unattached) or they died from her negligence (drunk driving or she passed out drunk and burned down the house with a cigarette).
I cant wait for the LOTR Rings of Power finale. Not because I’m heavily invested in the series But because I wanna see you make a Pitch Meeting about it asap!

I'm a massive fan of everything Ryan George does cause watching him is super easy, barely an inconvenience. But this one had me particularly amped. I am a solo Drummer/DJ Artist signed to BMG Records and John Powell the amazing composer of the film called me to play on the soundtrack of the whole movie. So when you are checking out those epic cartoon car chase scenes at the end (sans The Roadrunner), now you know it's DRMAGDN Cyborg Drummer/DJ along with with Bashiri Johnson who toured playing percussion with Michael Jackson & Omar Hakim who played drums on Get Lucky - Daft Punk. So now you at least know where those mysterious earthquakes came from in the movie. 🥁😎🥁

yeah, because Jordan Peterson never talks about both partners needing be competent, and never tells men to stop hating on women. It sounds like the villain is more Andrew Tate.

@Yura Yuryevich Looks like they corrected it. When I clicked on the video it had a thumbnail of the neighbor lady. Then when I exited out of the video and went back to my recommendations it was one of their usual thumbnails.
How would her being in that state be traditional. She won't be able to cook, clean or be intimate with him and he'd have to cook, clean, take care of her body while she's in the simulation and earn money for them. It's almost as if this movie focused more on a message than, you know, internal logic.
I haven't watched anything other than the reviews/reactions, but it would have made sense if they explained that Frank had a service going for that (nurses or maids taking care of comatose people), and the husbands going off to work every day is actually them being in charge of recruiting/radicalizing other young men. You know, like they are the underlings of some terrorist organization. Sort of what happened in The Village, wealthy guy has the means to secure a state park sized perimeter in that movie.

Man the marketing for these type of movies is so Weird and Toxic filled, it's crazy.
The pleading and desperation in producer guy’s voice @ 1:40 seems incredibly genuine, like he’s really, really worried about things not being as they seem.

The biggest surprise of this film is really that you go in expecting the twist to be one thing, but then it turns out to be exactly that thing you thought it would be and you wonder what the point of it all was. A bold choice by the filmmakers if I’m honest.

I was expecting/hoping the town of Victory would be on the moon or mars, yet no one was allowed to know except the executives at Victory. A story about colonists without having given consent could have made for an interesting story about being shanghaied and left on a wasteland in space.
That reminds me of Rings of Power and how the character that everything seems to indicate is Sauron turns out to actually be... Sauron.

The messaging in this movie seems very subtle, Pitch Meeting saving the public's money is tight!
That's the excuse if someone asked to go see the movie with them in theaters is ”Oh sry im tight".
It saved my time, and therefore my money. Trailer had me slightly curious, but the Pitch gave me all I needed to know to skip renting it.

This movie was someone’s dream right before they woke up. But quickly forgot all the in-between bits so just stitched all the parts they remembered together and put it in a movie.
The reason he started with the "it feels like a movie" bit, was because that's the most popular review for the movie on letterboxd!
It's also a quote one of the lead actors (Harry Styles) said when asked what his favourite part of Don't Worry Darling is. Just gonna post the whole thing 'cause it's pretty funny.

The cartoon car chase segment is probably my favorite thing…”no it’s not no there’s no way”.
With the premise of the movie it seems like it would make more sense to make the simulation like an actual place the characters are like the Truman show with a conditioning element rather than a Virtual Reality where in the real world the husband has to do all the stuff he wants the wife to do in the simulation thus defeating the purpose of what he wanted in the first place.
It’s already been done. Stepford Wives. Wilde just made a shittier version.

Yeah, even his "Let me get off of that thing" was less enthusiastic than usual.
Or a serious drama where producer guy is schizophrenic and pitches movies to himself all day. At first he is confined to a mental hospital until hollywood discovers him and so they kidnap him and put him in a room where he pitches movies to himself all day every day, only pausing to eat, sleep, and defecate. There will be several scenes of producer guy defacating, sometimes violently. It's going to take up a good chunk of screen time.
Anyways eventually he's going to realize that escaping his captors is super easy, barely an inconvenience. So he does a back flip, snaps the badguys neck and escapes.

I've never heard of this movie, I have no intention of ever thinking about it again but I'm really glad I watched this Pitch Meeting!
Just watch The Stepford Wives if you haven't yet. That movie has the same vibes, but with an actually digestible plot.
That twist at the end of this video seems far better than the twist in the movie.

I thought it was odd how the neighbor knew it was a simulation and chose to still be a crappy mom that her fake kids even favored the neighbor over her. And they never explained how the kids died, but I'm sure she either killed them (since she seems kind of unattached) or they died from her negligence (drunk driving or she passed out drunk and burned down the house with a cigarette).
The thing is the kids weren’t real, she was just using them as an unhealthy coping mechanism. She probably neglected them because _they weren’t real._

I'm a massive fan of everything Ryan George does cause watching him is super easy, barely an inconvenience. But this one had me particularly amped. I am a solo Drummer/DJ Artist signed to BMG Records and John Powell the amazing composer of the film called me to play on the soundtrack of the whole movie. So when you are checking out those epic cartoon car chase scenes at the end (sans The Roadrunner), now you know it's DRMAGDN Cyborg Drummer/DJ along with with Bashiri Johnson who toured playing percussion with Michael Jackson & Omar Hakim who played drums on Get Lucky - Daft Punk. So now you at least know where those mysterious earthquakes came from in the movie. 🥁😎🥁

my favorite part was when this movie had a cross over with the mcu, with red skull showing up and telling people to clean their rooms. i wasnt clear if that was part of the simulation or real world though.

How would her being in that state be traditional. She won't be able to cook, clean or be intimate with him and he'd have to cook, clean, take care of her body while she's in the simulation and earn money for them. It's almost as if this movie focused more on a message than, you know, internal logic.
I haven't watched anything other than the reviews/reactions, but it would have made sense if they explained that Frank had a service going for that (nurses or maids taking care of comatose people), and the husbands going off to work every day is actually them being in charge of recruiting/radicalizing other young men. You know, like they are the underlings of some terrorist organization. Sort of what happened in The Village, wealthy guy has the means to secure a state park sized perimeter in that movie.
