Hi Team would this be compatible with a 2008 Toyota Harrier. I have been told I would have to piggy back the system as I have Factory touch screen heating controls.

Here are the Cons of this unit: With a non stop DJ mix CD I had a Jenson model I exchanged out that would pause about a half second in between tracks, this one goes into the next track too fast with a slight noticeable beat advanced.. The seeking options during playback with CD or USB file only advances a few seconds ahead at a time when holding the arrow buttons when it should start off slow and then faster the longer you hold those seeking buttons down.. Or at least you should be able to move the progress bar into a different position.. If you have a DJ mix set mp3 file that's over an hour long it's impossible to get into the middle or end of it without holding the seek button down for a long time.. I don't care for the safety tip screen that pops up every time you start the car and have to hit OK.. Other than that this unit is good.. Sony needs to address these things I mentioned.. Perhaps a software update?
Good day. I have just installed my Sony XAV-AX200. But I seem to be stuck. How do I change the screen from orange to a darker color, such as dark grey, black, etc. Orange is too bright for night driving. Is there a way to do so? Thanks.
JC Installs Hey, JC. Thanks a lot. I am going to do it now. I installed it in my Australian model 1999 Nissan Pathfinder and switched it on for the first time last night after 4 days of careful installation, including the modification of the existing brackets, as the top brackets flanges needed to be bent forward a little so the top part of the XAV-AX200 can be inserted a little further inside because the console cover touches the XAV-AX200 trim, and also the original brackets fitted to the headunit aren't perfectly aligned, resulting in the headunit being slightly angled to the right. I had to re-drill and file the screw slots on the bracket flanges as well to align the unit vertically and in the center. Now that the installation is finished it looks really nice and professionally done. Thanks for your suggestion on screen background color change. Mick
Hi there, if you have music saved on Spotify from a Premium membership it won't use any data, and if you have a map of your local city saved you won't use data in navigation either, however it is recommended to keep it on to receive all your Facebook Messenger notifications and otherwise right from the display! I just got this head unit put in my car today and it only required the data to set up the route, once it had done it I was able to turn off data but still had the GPS on and google maps told me where to go still
Hi there. Yesterday and today, I have stripped half my car to fit the reverse camera video cable under the carpet alongside the doors, then along the side trims and up the top part of the tailgate, into the tailgate and above the licence plate, just under the part that has the vehicle name ,Pathfinder, that has the hidden licence lights. I wanted to have a professional installation as I believe the camera placed there would give a higher and wider view. By tomorrow I should finished the work and all the inner trims, including the tailgate will be carefully. I would like to know how do I stop the Warning appearing each time I start the car. It keeps reminding me that I shouldn't drive and look at the screen. I have to touch the Okay button every time the car is started, I find it more of a nuisance than a benefit because it stays on all the times if I don't touch the Okay button. It's a bit nervy.
JC Installs It's okay now, JC. I had to find out the hard way anyway. Earlier, I had contacted the Sony support and all they could do is redirect me to a page with the latest update for this unit, which is v 1.01.00. After the update was downloaded on a USB flash stick I then inserted the stick in the unit's USB and it automatically updated as soon as the unit was switched on. This done, the warning screen, after the Sony logo, disappeared after 3 seconds. So, this part was fixed, but the reversing camera video appeared on screen only when the 'Camera' button on the right of the screen was touched/pressed and the gear shift was on reverse. This resulted in delay in triggering the the camera to switch it on instantly. And, as somebody said in a Sony review that, by the time the rear camera turns on he had already reversed and gone because of the Sony logo and the warning screen that appeared afterwards, overtaking the camera priority. So, like I said, and I had thought at the same time, these two are the problem. But then, I wondered why there is this stupid Sony logo appearing on screen at boot-time when there is already a Sony name in front of the unit? So, back to the store where I purchased the XAV-AX200 to ask more questions. They couldn't tell me why there was no camera video when selecting reverse gear despite having hooked a wire from the reverse lights at the back of the car and the other end plugged at the back of the unit. The video only showed up if I gave it some time for the unit to boot and the stupid Sony logo and warning screen disappeared, by which time I was losing time. And the store person went and got a radio installer working there who came in the store and after explaining my dilemma he asked me if I had ever installed a radio before. I told him that a have 43 years of mechanic/engineering/auto electrical and basic electronic experience under my belt, of course I've installed and repaired radios in all my time involved with cars. So, no further questions. He then thought just what I had thought when he took me to the car radio section, opened the door-like panel where the radios are displayed for selling purpose and picked this wire at the back of a XAV-AX100 and asked me if I had connected a wire labelled (labeled) 'REVERSE TRIGGER'. I told him no. The wire was there but I had no idea what it meant by 'reverse trigger', as there is no instructions that says what is the wire for, or where it is supposed to be connected. He insisted the wiring instructions for that particular wire are there. I said they're not in the book and told him to wait a minute I would go to the car and get the book. On return, I presented him the stupid instruction book and said to show me where does it say anything about that wire. I called it a stupid book because of the 'microscopic prints and small diagrams that are hard to see and follow. I wore my reading glasses during the installation to make sure I don't fail on the job. Everything was okay except when reading and following the pathetic printed instruction book where the text are so tiny, as if it's a Contract, you know, with the fine prints that require a strong magnifying glass to read, or better still a low magnification microscope used for gems. So, I knew all along that there was another wire missing. But that didn't stop from asking further questions on where do I connect this 'REVERSE TRIGGER' wire to. He told me to connect it to the wire that is connected the reverse switch under the gear selector shifter. I told him that it's a 1999 Pathfinder, and he said that I have to remove the entire center console to find the reverse switch, saying it's there somewhere near the reverse click indent. I returned home and began to remove the center console and with a torch, a testing probe (a tester with a wire and an alligator clip on one end and a pointed pin-type tip to pierce into the plastic sheath of a wire to reach the live wire inside). First, I couldn't find any switch. So, I decided to (again) remove the footwell kick trim and try to find the yellow wire from there, as all the bundles wires run to the rear of the car from there. Still, I couldn't trace or locate the yellow wire. All this time I had left the ignition on without starting the engine and the gearshift in reverse and the reverse lights were also on, in an attempt to trace the live cable going to the the lights, it started to flatten the car battery. Frustrated at having listened at the bullshit artist about this supposed switch under the floor shift mechanism, I no longer had any other choices but to strip the interior of the car of its trims and plastic panels which was quite a job. Then I decided to use a roll of yellow automotive wire and got to work. I connected the new yellow wire at the back of the reverse lights wire (also yellow) with a small wire joiners and then worked my way towards the rear of the unit, passing the wire under the edge of the carpet alongside the plastic door trims, up the foot well, behind and above the rear of the glovebox and finally ending behind the unit, to be connected with a plastic covered wire connector to the 'REVERSE TRIGGER' wire of the unit. This of course meant a pain in the neck because I also had to remove the dash console trim and then unscrew and pull the unit out to reach the short wire and do the connection. But before I put everything back in place I had to re-test the unit (car battery had been charged overnight). So, in the first test, when I turned the ignition on without starting the engine, I switched the radio/unit on and waited for the Sony logo and the warning screen to come on and disappear. All was ok. Now, the second test, I left the radio on but turned the ignition off, then in a few seconds, back to on without starting the engine and, as soon as the Sony logo appeared at boot time I immediately shifted the gearshift into reverse and, to my amazement, the reverse camera video appeared at boot time, overtaking (as priority) the logo and the warning screen. I did additional tests to make sure it is working as expected, and it did. I then tied the yellow wire alongside the main bundle of wires with straps and then replaced all the rear wall panel and trims (being carefully with the clip-on pins, making sure they all point on their holes before pressing them in), replace door and tailgate seals, then re-fitted the AV-AX200 unit back, the dashboard trim, the foot well trim, the glove box and its door. Took the car to a car park with bays and trimmed the reverse lines. And now that it works as expected, I am as happy as a fiddler. To think that I enquired online with Sony support, asked questions at the store and chatted with the company who sells the wire harnesses for these units, and the instruction book had little helped because of the fine prints that require the eyes of a Hawk to read, you'd wonder how hard it is these days when buying a product then you will find out that only qualified installers are able to do the installations, only just. Having had years of experience, even I got caught into difficulties. I can only imagine how many others are caught into the same trap, all because of Sony's mentality of introducing instruction books with fine prints, as if we are 10 year olds with eyes as sharp as those of an eagle. Can you imagine that?
JC Installs Thanks JC. Just one last question I'd like to know. I've seen many of these car units with a reverse camera that have horizontal bars or lines and two side angles vertical lines that connects with the horizontal lines. But the XAV-AX200 only has 3 horizontal lines of different color. I don't know why only 3 lines and why different colors. They can only be adjusted independently up and down, expand (widen) and shrink, and that's about it. Is there a way I can have a box-type lines similar to other units on the market which have vertically angled lines instead of only 3 horizontal lines that have the same thickness and blocking some of the video that appears on screen? How do I add side lines? And, does the different colored lines mean anything that I don't know of? Thanks mate.
Is this has wireless CarPlay????

does that mean it is using my data from phone plan when I listen to music from my phone or an app on my phone and when Im navigating on maps?
