I just installed it on my 2016 Veloster, was a nightmare but I keep learning about this stuff...anyways, had to mount a kit for the car and etc...excellent unit, looks super clean
I plan on getting this for my 2016 Veloster too, since its smaller on the back. Does it work with the dash kit or did you have to modify the dash kit to fit the smaller back?
@@ASVPEDWIN works excellent with the dash kit and the part above the dash you can easy get it off and be more comfortable to work

Is there any way to mount the screen in the inverse way? With the din at the bottom and the screen going up? On some of their other similar L shaped models, it looks like the bottom of the screen has mounting holes.

I have this radio but I can't figure out how to add a custom wallpaper. It does not appear to have the import option in the settings like the previous unit did

How is it holding up 6 months later? I read reviews people saying it worked for a week or 2 weeks and it started having problems.
@@Bay_Area_john solid. No complaints other than the occasional hard reset. Freezes sometimes using CarPlay. But no issues other than that.

Just installed my first system in 24 years. Made the mistake of purchasing subs, amps, mids, and tweeters from Skar. It sounds horrible! Don’t make the same mistake I did.
Does this mount with a standard double din bracket? And also does this plug in with standard wire harness? I have an 07 Honda Accord and having to put in after market double din mount where the storage compartment is.

Just bought this radio for my 05 Jeep Grand Cherokee and I can’t get the radio to turn on with ignition. But when applied the constant 12V it turn on but won’t turn back off when key isn’t in I’ve tried everything and can’t seem myself to figure it out if anyone knows of this problem or issue please help.

@@superlouie1500 I absolutely love it but it does have a few problems connecting with CarPlay but other than that, it COMPLETELY changed how my Bose speakers sound.
I have a 2015 Altima. Telling you that so you can get a grasp on what I went from head unit wise.
I've had this unit for a couple of weeks now. The Android Auto keeps crashing and having multiple issues. There are several reports online of Sony head units having these types of problems. I have tried every solution posted, cables, software etc. Still won't stay connected, randomly drops and sometimes won't connect at all. Very disappointed!
How is the screen on this? Is it like an iPad? Looking to install in my convertible.. do you foresee any issue with screen quality?
Any thoughts as to the "water resistance"? I know the XAV-AX100 was not "officially" water proof, but there are videos showing it under water spray (rain). I amp planning to use it in a Polaris Slingshot so it might get hit by water.
No mention of water proofing. But get the Xav-ax7000. That one is.
Also maybe another video idea spin off from your best Amp under $250 video. How would a compact powered 8" ported sub like the Rockford Fosgate p300-8p compare to a combo that you put together yourself like the alpine type r in prefab ported box along with the alpine Amp from your video. Would cost much more. Do you have an opinion on powered subs are there major compromises on quality or are they considered great bang for buck options? There's a Kenwood powered ported sub with less power, slightly smaller box for more money so the Rockford comes off good there and JL makes some as well, but alot more money. I imagine the ported powered subs have much more output over the sealed types that look like they are designed to go under a seat.

Nice review, In your experience was HU has the fastest bootup? I got the Kenwood DNX997XR and it takes it quiet a while to bootup I noticed.

Might find an answer some where else but just struck me...Are there any reverse L-shapes? Like the screen goes up from the stereo instead of dropping down?
Well the Alpine iLX-207 has the reverse L shape but when either that radio or the Sony is installed you can’t tell because it’s behind the dash. Are you looking for a radio where the screen sticks out of the dash…?

100% on streaming SXM vs tuner. I actually had it for a while and would plug my phone in over signal.

I bought this on pre-order but yet to recieve, besides that can you do a vid on best 6x9 component speakers, or even 6x9 coaxial speakers, there's just not a lot of vids on 6x9 speakers in general.
6x9 component are a growing category. That’s a good idea thanks. We will eventually get to that video
Off topic, maybe a worthy video idea. How do 2way and 3way 6x9s compare, I'd love to see a graph of the same speaker both versions to see how they compare along with a real world assessment of any differences. Are they crossed at different frequencies, is it actually a 3way cross over or is the driver just a slightly different design?

Great idea. Normally with an brand does a 3 way version they add a little mid range speaker to it. With a cap to crossover it over. The mid bass cone and tweeter is normally the same as the two way. Hope the helps. Thanks for the suggestion and comment.

Great unboxing / review. Mine just arrived and am excited to put in my 13' non touchscreen Civic. My car is all stock with no future plans for subs or anything, so this should be perfect over the stock radio.

What’s the difference between this one and the 3250
I just bought the DMX970S, a RFRB. Can you give me any hints on how to test it at home and upgrade the firmware? What I'm looking for, really, is what do I need to actually plug it into the wall, to work. I have located update instructions.
Make sure the thumb drive you use is between 2gb and 8gb when upgrading the firmware. We ran into the same issuer yesterday.
@@BreakersStereo thanks for that tip, I'll note that as well. What I was hoping to find out though is how if possible I can plug one of these head units into a wall socket to test, what I would need, considering I did buy a refurb. I'd want to update the firmware as well, but I imagine I could update it through the USB 3.0 attachment that I'm going to have installed as well, and make sure all of the necessary ports work correctly.

I just bought this unit and haven't installed it yet. The box says it's a bluetooth radio. My question is will a android phone pair with it or do I need to use the android auto to pair the phone to it. Thanks for any help you can give me.
Bluetooth should be able to connect to both apple and android with out any apps

I just installed this unit in the 2008 f250 and for some reason only my front left speaker works. I also put a new kicker speakers all around put in my old boss double din and all the speakers work. Check the wiring harness. All the connections seem solid but the Sony back in and same thing only one speaker. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?
I do have the scosche FD 213 SD wiring harness that has like three different plugs on it and I only use one. It says it's for my model and your truck but I wonder if it's the issue

Volts out to the amps are not as high so if you add amps so the signal is not as clean … but if your not adding amps no problem.
@@BreakersStereo does that mean you don't have to add an amp? Could one direct connect an 8" stock subwoofer to the sub-out on this unit? My factory system harness is shredded
if you add an amp you'll have to increase your gain with your headunit much higher than if the preout voltage was higher which increases the noise floor

What you need to do it put this up alongside the cheaper Chinese counterparts. Rank each part as you go along. It seems that the 4x55w output is the only major difference. Most Chinese stuff claims to be 4x40w. The Chinese stuff seems to have way more options to plug into it though....rear view cameras is but one.
We’ve been thinks about doing that… it’s a good idea. Have any reference on what Chinese radio brand we should compare?

I need a company to make a barebones Apple CarPlay/AA headunit. Single Din w/ touchscreen. 2 channel full range 4-5V preouts. No FM/AM/AUX. No time alignment, special settings, EQ's ETC. Really only a good thing for people that have a full setup though. DSP/Amps/etc. Not a good money maker for them

Very similar to the DDX9707S. We did a review on that. Only difference is 5 volt vs 4volt and 2 year warranty vs 1 year warranty.

I bought an line driver and it was a huge difference in sound quality it was like $25 so pre outs didn't matter

Yeah carplay and android auto are wired. Wireless is a more expensive feature… but some people don’t mind because they can get a charge when they are in their car. But it is cool to be able to have wireless on those features especially if you forget your cable
You won't find those features at this budget range so just get the dongle for wireless ACP/AA.
