What is the relationship between nodules and progression of non cancerous thyroid disease? What is the longitudinal outcome of nodules, the frequency in which thyroid nodules become cancerous in time. When should hypo echoic nodules with calcification be biopsied and how often? Should age be a determining factor in referring for biopsy? Since this is on you tube it would be helpful to simplify some of the recommendations, for health consumers. What patient symptoms are typically associated with thyroid cancer?

Very interesting, especially the last half. I always pictured thyroid nodules as bubble-like with fluid in hem, not flat, and covered with a substance or open with ridges, uniform or irregular, irregular outer ridges being more suspect especially with growth. I was told my nodules are on the right side of my neck, soft (good) and to check them every 6 months to a year,, but I forgot about them. It's been 3 years? Now, because I have a stiff and painful right side of my neck, no lumps, no thyroid blood work issues (all normal) I still feel anxious that I should rush to get an ultrasound, especially since you say ultrasounds are not invasive. Besides having a stiff, sore neck, I get head rushes when my neck goes out of place. I'm in physical therapy, but I must stay on the exercises all the time or the stiff, out of place, neck goes out again. I feel like I have whiplash and need a chiropractor, but my insurance would rather I use 16 visits in PT every year than use a few with a chiropractor. I don't know what it is but it affects the circulation in my hands as well. I'm also a few year, type 1 diabetic, contracted it after generic Lipitor in 2006. I'm missing c-peptide and very much insulin resistant. Because I took generic Lipitor the atty's said I couldn't sue. I will get my ultrasound, but please, no radioactive iodine! I'm working on being raw vegan in lieu of vegan. (Since 1980)

Sarah Love have you physically noticed a difference? I'm so curious about the results, could you please keep me posted?

HayaQ Sure. I use to have spells where I couldn’t breathe while lying down. That is gone now. I think they must be smaller now. I get the scan on Monday. Results when I see my thyroid doc on July 13th.
